Angel Raduriel - Process commentary

Content summary | 內容清單:

So he now has a name, 'Raduriel'. Thanks to Fury for the suggestion and FesterSilence for the feedback!
感謝Fury和FesterSilence,他現在有個聽起來很炫砲的名字了:Raduriel(拉杜里爾)

Keep in mind that this method is only meant to make shape design more controllable by mimicking the look of pencil-shading, and ignored many light/rendering effects if compared to 3D engines or realism.

So now I can finally proceed to work on the next illustration! I have great confidence it won't be accomplished before 4/1 ;D; I'll update the progress before the end of March and see if the next billing cycle should be paused.
然後終於可以朝下一張圖邁進!這張真的磨太久啦!感覺在月底前畫完一張圖是不太可能的事,屆時會再視情況看是不是得暫停四月的結帳週期,會在三月底前上來發個進度公告~

Thanks :D This method is probably more common in traditional drawings, like pencil or charcoal drawings. It's more like basic rules really, and what I did is just trying to stick with it as best as I can. I got the shape group ideas from a youtube tutorial video and finally find my workflow for it.

Your rendered illustrations are always so gorgeous. I didn't realize you were this analytical/precise about lighting. It really pays off in the end. The shadow grouping and overall shape design is so stunning.

Aw thank you! I can only scratch the surface of it. Art is hard!

So beautiful! Shape language and transitions are new things to me that I'm only just now starting to learn about, so seeing your process was really amazing! Thank you for sharing!

I was totally not expecting to progress this far at the beginning xD. Feeling like I was blindly finding the path and luckily didn't hit a dead end this time.

Seeing your progress pleases me to no end (❤ω❤)

Thanks <3 I found I was almost mimicking the feel and look of using pencils to shade, like what I did 10+ years ago on papers. Maybe that's why I feel more comfortable working this way.

I'm gaining another level of enduring working on the same piece every day. XD

Finally I can give my post a better title XD

I can tell how hard you've worked on this. He's beautiful.

Woot! You're welcome!! :D

I always prefer stylized lighting that is realistically accurate. I think it pushes the definition of shapes and forms more. Looking forward to your next piece and just take your time with it^_^ Oh and you are very welcome!
