Recently I continued on adjusting my approach of drawing/sketching/inking, and suddenly got a workflow that I really want to test. So I drew my old OC again and the result seems better than what I did last month.
Turns out if I force myself only to get used to certain programs or devices, I will never find the ideal workflow. Instead, I literally need to try all the possible combinations and find the one that 'feels right'. It really sounds like a desperate solution but...it works better than I could ever expect.
So now I can get a sketch that only needs to be further detailed and after some brightness/contrast adjustment, the result will be as good as a fully-inked work. Not only this will save tons of time, but I can also get a better composition and dynamic overall. This method should work on most character/creature drawings. (Not include background though) I'm still figuring out the final step (detailing) but just want to make a quick post here.
