Kars WIP & 2 sketches

WIP:

2 rough sketches:

I also like the first idea but it seems too challenging, I might come back to finish it in the future.

Feathers and muscles are always my kinks. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I guess that's why I enjoy drawing Kars and Angelo Credo so much. I was a die-hard dinosaur fan(and a nerd) as a kid who always thought that birds are basically dinos, and the habit of drawing dinos affects my preference to draw all creature.

I'm still working for the first half of February and here are the works so far. I learned the lesson from previous work (Flow) and decided to improve the precision of sketches. Those sketches were done in Paintstorm, but the next step (shading, rendering) will be done in Photoshop.

I still purchase dinosaurs games/sims on steam when I see one haha! And Dinotopia are my all time favorite books! Actually I'm kinda dropping behind the knowledge of animal/dinos and I wish to have the opportunity for catching up again. Personally I think learning animal anatomy can also improve human drawing. Yeah I change his palm gesture and thank you for noticing it. Most of this drawing is soft and relaxing and by creating slight tension to his gesture seems more balancing and reserving to his nature.

Amazing work! I was fascinated with dinosaurs when I was a kid as well, and still am. I really admire the lifelike gestures you can put into your winged works, it’s not an easy thing to do. Feathers are gorgeous and require quite a bit of detail, so it’s always a matter of patience but the end result is stunning. I liked that you changed the hand in one from opened to closed. The closed palm seems flow a lot better. Interesting how changes like that can change the mood of a painting.
