This month has sucked.
Added 2024-09-29 13:59:57 +0000 UTCHey everyone. I have an unfortunate life update that I didn't want to make. I'm copy/pasting this from facebook, which I don't like. I usually write something unique for Patreon patrons, but that post was pretty informative and I need to conserve power.
I never know when my cell reception is going to crap out, too. This is being written on my laptop, with my phone working as a wireless hotspot.
Just fyi, my area was one of those that got hit by a hurricane all at once and ended up losing power.
I've been very lucky to have (rationed) water until now, but I have been without power for a few days, and it's looking like I will probably be out of power for another couple days at least.
I feel very lucky. There was no damage to my house. Other people in my area have not been as lucky. I even went out at 9pm last night on a mission and managed to get a full tank of gas and a generator. My mom chipped in on the generator, which ended up being a very useful early Christmas present. lol
The generator means that I can save some of the food in my 'fridge. Local grocery stores have been closed for days, so most folks around where I live have been kind of existing on the stuff in the back of the pantry that they don't usually eat.
But being the apocalypse-minded person I am, we have like...120 lbs of rice on hand. So I'm not gonna starve. It just might not be real...gourmet, if I were without power for a couple weeks.
But hopefully it won't come to that!
Anyway, I'm sharing this here so you understand why Patreon was super light this month, and so you will all also be gentle with me if I screw up my promos for Past Life Hero (which comes out in 2 days on the 1st).
There will be lots of chapters as soon as I get my life back, I promise!
I got sick after DragonCon for a long time, and right as I was almost completely healthy, like 3 or 4 states lost power, and I was in one of them.
This month has not been awesome for me. lol
But life goes on, and I'm trying my best to keep working. Dictation has been helpful. It's just going to take a while after I get power to go through all this stuff and make sense of my insane ramblings.
Stay safe. Hopefully I'll be back normally in a few days.

2024-09-29 19:49:54 +0000 UTCHang in there it will get better. Also, just put hot sauce on the mystery food and pretend you ordered something in a foreign country in a language you can’t read.

2024-09-29 18:43:48 +0000 UTCI have 8 months of survival food and a Generaic whole house power unit. I have learned over the years to prep for hurricanes I live in Houston.

2024-09-29 17:45:17 +0000 UTCYeah, I got a bit of Prepper bug even though I live in the "big city." A chest freezer instead of a front open means I can open it and not dump the cold. I have a good sized battery bank that can keep my refrigerator running for a few days. Decent stock of canned soups and the like - a propane mini-stove and a whole case of propane for it. Lots of smaller portable battery banks, lights and devices that I keep charged. The goal isn't to last a month -- but a few days if needed. Have a few FSRs too. My next home is going to have a bunch of solar that can plug into that battery bank, not an option I have where I am now. Probably upgrade the bank to one big enough to run the whole house. I had a friend in Tampa on a big video interview when he lost power, he ended up calling directly and they finished it up from his phone. If he gets the job (and probably will) then he is leaving the state. :) They were impressed he considered their interview more important when a Hurricane was landing...

2024-09-29 16:17:34 +0000 UTCLife happens, we are just glad you are safe and we hope you continue to be safe. We will be here ready for when the chapters start to roll again. I've been here this long and a couple slow weeks aren't going to change that. 👌

2024-09-29 15:01:51 +0000 UTCStay Safe! I assume from some of your writings you are in the NC mountains... crazy stuff out that way. I'm in central nc myself and I know the mountains are nuts.
