New Heavy Machines

I’ve received a few heavy machines to try out. The Creality K2 multi color printer and the Carvera Air CNC which I plan to test its PCB board milling capability.

These are both like a box of bricks to move when in the box. Hopefully they are a bit lighter one I get them out of the box.

I also have my Prusa XL setup awaiting its first print. It’s also large and heavy. I had some issues getting it put together. A defective tool head mechanism was one that is being corrected by Prusa support. Also had an LCD ribbon cable connected backward but I was able to fix that myself. Prusa support is looking into that as well.

So I’ll be busy this month. If you have questions about these let me know in comments to this post.

As you test and review the K2 Plus I would be interested in your perspective on the RS-485 cable connecting the CFS to the K2. Your thoughts on purchasing an RS-485 cable on Amazon (or an affiliate link) to acquire cables of different lengths to allow for more flexible placement of the CFS unit. I would like to use 2 CFS Units to replace my current color 3D setup (Ender 3 Pro with Mosaic Palette 3 Pro). The big question is if a third party RS-485 cable would be compatible (properly wired-configured).

Me too. It's great that there are so many core XY machines these days that also have multi-material systems. Sure beats my old Ender 3s.

Hey Chuck! Will be VERY interested to hear what you think about the K2 with CFS. Hopefully they sent you the combo so you can try the multi-color print features. It would be great of you have a review while the “Black Friday” pricing of $1,499 is on.
