Sovol SV08
Added 2024-08-24 15:53:29 +0000 UTCSovol recently went on Twitter/X and publicly tried to shame me for not releasing a video on their SV08. I’m lucky enough to get printers to test. They sent me an SV08 back in March and I’ve been testing it. I’m not sponsored by them in any way other than the free printer.
It’s a big (350x350) and fast printer but the quality I’m getting is average to poor. My K1’s and Bambulab machines print just as fast and much better. They keep pushing me to release a video but I’m trying to make sure it’s not me screwing up.
I tried to print the Hot Wheels track in my latest video and the pictures above show the results. The K1 Max results were much better. The SV08 versions are just not useable.
So it could be I got a bad machine. I’ve tried various profiles. But I can’t get it to work reliably for me.
And the issues are not something I can ask them to fix. It looks like it’s working as expected.
I’ll have to release the video soon and it won’t be pretty.

my only complaint with the ender 2 pro was the funky mainboard cpu they used, it didn't work well with octoprint. I wound up having to buy a v4.2.7 mainboard and the adapter cables so I could use the stock wiring harness for the motors and then I created custom firmware for it that matched up for the stock firmware for the original motherboard configuration but was capable of working with octoprint without stuttering and messing up prints. The ender 2 pro is super easy to level out and with only having the one upright you never have to worry about the gantry going out of alignment.

2024-11-25 15:42:35 +0000 UTCSo the way I see it... You have done a few 3d prints. If you have to fight to be sure "it is not you" that is causing the problem, then it is not you. Give them the review. Let the world know it is trash. Think about the people who bought one between the time you got this and now. Had you released your review, you might have saved them money! Save the children Chuck! LOL! Seriously though, there is no reason not to release a bad review at this point.

2024-08-24 18:59:05 +0000 UTCIt's really SAD that SOVOL would use ANY Social Platform to SHAME a Youtube Content Creator (especially CHEP) because you haven't released a Video Review. I hope their company will see the PATREON Link or enough people will shy away from their products that they realize they can't sell poorly designed products. I learned a lot with the Ender-3, but got rid of it for the Bambulab A1.., but still find the Ender-2 Pro is a fun machine to print on or show people at the Engineering Office what FDM Printers can do!

2024-08-24 17:00:03 +0000 UTCIt’s important for manufacturers to know, when they send testers their products, that honest and unbiased reviews need to be made. This is a risk for both the manufacturer and the tester. I would also like to see the manufacturers make sure that the mainstream slicers have the optimized operational settings for their printer. Take the time. We’re not all using just PrusaSlicer or just BambuSlicer or just Cura. Perhaps this industry needs to standardize on open function terminology and settings.

2024-08-24 16:16:46 +0000 UTCI had big print quality issues with my SV06 plus. It turned out to be the Cura profile. I switched to a Ender3 profile and made the necessary changes to for build size, etc. After that my print quality was great.
