Development Update #41

Resume:

Hello there my lovely Patrons. Today I'm here to start the month talking a lot about a lot of stuff, but you already know what I'm gonna talk about here, the principal topics are up there.

First of all, January started full of ideas, I had to make Wagner's fourth day and I know from now on, things will be way bigger, which means, I'll have to write the double of what I have up until now. However, all the writing, deleting text, redoing stuff because I don't think it's good enough I also wanted to do more things. So I also started to work on two new features for the game: Filters and Sound Effects.

Both those features need to be added to the JSON Editor first as an option, then I need to slowly work on making the code to actually add that information on the JSON file, then, go inside the game and make the code to make the sound callings to work and the filter to work too. So, it's a four-step for each one of them, right?

  1. Add the options on the editor.
  2. Code the information that has to be saved on the JSON file.
  3. Code the game to work with the new information.
  4. Have the Filters and Sound Effect Files ready to be used by the game.

But you can be sure that I do split those four tasks into smaller ones because it's not as simple as you think it is.

So, I've spent January writing and coding, and what do I have done in one month you ask?

I was able to make the JSON Editor have the options for the Filters and the Sound Effects. And that's it actually, it was a pain to add them, and I should have added them when I was creating the JSON Editor because I already forgot how the editor works internally enough for me to mess the code and spend hours fixing silly mistakes.

And of course, the text, I was able to write about Act Zero, the three first Encounters with Wagner, the two out of four parts of ACT1 (Yes, it's so big that now it needs to be divided ever since Day 3 actually), and the four questions of the First Part of Act 1. I'm now working on the three extra routes for the A and S type of answers, and with it, Part 1 of Act 1 with all the previous routes will be ready to go through the correction of the draft before I can shove it inside the game.

So, that was the work for January.

And how I'll be working this month, to answer that, let's go to the Pool Result.

The Winning Option on the Last Pool for Tier 3+ Patrons is the first option: Release constant alphas every two or three weeks with any new content as possible.

So, how I'll be working from now on:

This will ensure you all receive at least ONE alpha a month, and the alphas will change the second number less often since I only want to change the second number after an entire day with one of the characters is done.

So, since this is how I'm starting to work this month onward, I'll be choosing what to do the next weeks before the next alpha, Lemme sees if I can at least finish the 1st Act for Wagner's fourth day for you guys, this should ensure at least a good chunk of text since the Acts have more text than any other route in the game.

So you guys can be sure that the next alpha will be released this month and, I also have a lot of names to add to the credits, the alphas will now have the same credits sequence as the Demo, which is cool but also adds a little work fixing some positions in the game.

Anyway, that's it for this Development Update, and please be aware that probably this month we'll have a new Cutscene done for the game, which I'll be adding here for the Tier 3 Patrons AND inside the alpha that I'll be releasing by the end of the third week of this month, unless something really weird happens here, like a power outage or something like that, if that happens the fourth week will also be the one I'll be putting the alpha for you guys. But I will ensure that, unless those events that I have no power over happens, I'll be releasing the alphas by the end of the third week.

I hope you all have a nice week and thank you all for choosing to stay with me this month! Thank you, guys.
