Ko-Fi
Added 2019-01-17 23:53:25 +0000 UTCHello!
I've been looking into Ko-Fi, which is a creator-friendly patreon alternative. If I sign up for "gold" (a flat $6/month fee) there are no transaction fees or cuts they take -- which ensures most of the support goes directly to the creator (ie, myself). Patreon takes a rather big chunk from your pledges unfortunately but I understand if you enjoy the interface/services they offer through this platform.
I thought I might gauge what the interest is here first, since I assume this is most of my interested audience. I honestly don't know what running a Ko-Fi page is like, but if anyone has experience supporting creators through Ko-Fi, I'd love to hear about it!
Cheers!

Should you decide to make a Ko-Fi account, I’d look into supporting you on there. Just let us know! :)

2019-01-18 01:04:51 +0000 UTCI currently support one creator on Ko-Fi Gold on a monthly basis. It doesn't have as much as Patreon at this point but I would like to help them grow if they're more creator-friendly. From the supporter side... I don't think there's a concept of tiers for supporter-only posts, but there seems to be an option to restrict posts to monthly donators only or to open it to people who supported in the last 30 days. No idea about post attachments. I get email notifications for posts, but they're not copied to the email so I can only access them directly on the platform. There also doesn't seem to be a supporter dashboard to view creator posts like Patreon does so it's a little finicky there. I do like the relative ease of one-off payments. I think as a supporter, you can only pay with PayPal? And the monthly payments happen on the same day as the first day of payment, so not consolidated to the first of the month.
