I took the job easily without thinking clearly about the history.

今回のイラスとは第二次世界大戦の米軍兵士の絵になります。

僕は子供に銃を持たせたくないと昔から言ってますが勿論このようなイラストは描いたことがありません。今回の依頼が来た時も、勿論断るつもりでした。

ですが非常に心惹かれる物語があり引き受けることにしました。

However, there is a very fascinating story and I decided to accept it.

1944年12月24日クリスマス。この子達は子供に見えますが実は成人男性で、戦時中のその場しのぎでクリスマスツリーを立てています。

彼らは飾り付けを始めると子供の頃に戻ってクリスマスツリーを飾った若々しい思い出を取り戻した瞬間です。絶対に銃は手放せません。少しだけリラックスすることは出来ますが、彼らはまだ戦争中であり、敵はいつでも撃つことが出来る状況を意味します。

The moment they started decorating, they returned to their childhood and regained the youthful memories of decorating the Christmas tree. I can't let go of the gun. You can relax a little, but they are still at war, meaning that the enemy can hit you at any time.
