I was working on various improvements to the Poker game, things like a new hint mouse/over, and the ability to keep multiple sets of gems, swapping them at the start of combat depending on who you're fighting.


Since the easiest fight to access is Emily's first encounter, it's been my test-bed. It's also painfully old; one of the first scenes written, and the Minotaur is (was) the oldest character I hadn't tweaked yet. He looks kinda weak compared to the newer ones.


That set me thinking to how the game's changed over time, and since I make sure I keep old the archives, I tracked down the very Alpha build of the game that I let other people see, v 0.0.2. You can download it here, if you're curious.
I put together a quick montage, looking at some of the ways the game has changed since the first act. Characters who've been re-rendered, the animating faces, UI that has been tweaked, animations added, the day/night cycle, etc. It's surprising how far it's come, and quite inspiring for myself :)
