What is the best Gundam song, and why is it "Char ga kuru" ("Here Comes Char")?

While I'm talking music, "Gallant Char" is also great (it figures that Char would get not one but TWO great theme songs...)
It hasn't been long since it aired, so I won't name names, but a recently broadcast anime episode included a scene of a character singing "Char ga kuru" to themselves - I squawked and pointed at the screen and reacted exactly the way that the creators probably intended. Fan-girlin' out 😅

Toki wo Koete! "Believing in the sign of Zeta, beyond hard times from nooooooow" I don't know, man. Zeta gundam isn't even my favorite show in the OG trilogy, but this music just feels like your are enter in larger than life space soap opera and this is rad asf

2025-09-17 19:31:48 +0000 UTCFrom First Gundam my faves are "Encounters" and "Beginning" by Daisuke Inoue. I love how hauntingly beautiful and also subtly hopeful they are. However, out of all the shows/OVAs covered by the podcast so far, I have to give it to the music from 0083. I LOVE that soundtrack. One of the first Gundam soundtracks I ever bought and both me and my wife rock out to it whenever a song (especially one of the opening songs) comes on in the car playlist. She hasn't even seen the OVA and she likes the music.
