Writers? You mean the mangaka? This show is based off the manga/anime. And the fuck you mean "what happened to this show", this season is literally about beating the face cards and its relation to the plot reveal of the story.

The whole idea was to act as a decoy for the king while avoiding direct confrontation and somehow they manage to completely forget about the plan and go full on jump mode on him. and whats up with the king of spades guy? He takes aggro like a video game character
