2023-01-17 07:50:05 +0000 UTCBruh...I will be SO happy when these TV shows break away from the 6/8/10 episode seasons....the whole point is to tell a story...but they rush through it and now it sucks! I wholeheartedly agree with what Tobi said. Usagi's switch was way too fast and I agree that she didn't even need the switch at all. I feel like they did that to make her more feminine/soft to push the "love story" narrative with Arisu....a heroine he must save...but I'll talk about that more when y'all finish the season... This episode was my least favorite...everything was too damn easy and it felt like laziness on the writers' side. All they had to do was make some lame motivational speech and then everything just became super easy. Watching it with you guys now, I can appreciate the Scales game a little more...that approach works given that Nike is very influential and has a way with words & KoD wanting to stick to his principles. I guess it didn't hit as good, bc they just did that with the previous game. They're trying too hard to play on emotional ties when there are other aspects to explore (strength, wisdom, luck, etc)...if they would've won the Tag game differently, this would've been a phenomenal episode. We still have to deal with the Queen of Hearts too, and that is supposed to be a game focused on emotion. Also, I wanted to comment this from the previous episode...but I've noticed that lately, shows have been keeping characters around because the actors IRL get along well...that's nice...but it makes the writing very lazy bc there are so many more possibilities and characters to explore. While I admit that it was cool to see some cameos from previous characters, it was too much. The only characters I appreciate seeing are Karube & Chota bc they were taken WAY too early and they center Arisu's entire being around them...we definitely deserved to see them more...we didn't even get a proper back story on them (especially with Chota's mom basically bussing it open for a minister). This makes me fearful for Squid Game & AOUAD...they've mentioned how the bully, MVP, & the main guy were besties on the set...so we'll probably see him in S2 even though he was the most annoying character on Earth...also we'll probably see a lot of Sangwoo & Number 001 (if his legal troubles don't mess everything up) in S2 as well. I still have a little hope that it will all work out well...but the track record has proven otherwise.

2023-01-17 00:42:31 +0000 UTCI don’t necessarily think Usagi’s resolution was out of no where. Her meeting the little boy played a big role in it. Last episode (if I’m not mistaken) the woman who was watching over the little boy told Usagi that she believed that even though going back to the real world without parents would be tough, she believes that his parents would not want him to suffer and live happily. Then later on Usagi had the flashback with her dad telling her that if he died, she should live her life as best as possible.

They keep calling this world "freedom" but how do the game masters live knowing the games they create costs human lives?

He didn't buy laser like other face cards but had the acid over his head too.

2023-01-16 23:09:49 +0000 UTCwith Usagi I think when the queen was beating her and told her how a hypocrite she was because she wants to protect the boy but in this world everyone is just selfish wanting to save themselves it did trigger something in her, that everyone is just on survival mode for this game just like her at beginning if you remember she wasn't exactly about saving people it was about winning and staying alive but for what. The speech she gave was necessary to turn people over otherwise they would just give up and go back to the queens side but it was like she was telling herself this. She has been so scared she wants to live but she keeps saying she doesn't want to go back its like being suicidal your depression is consuming you but you don't want to pull the trigger hoping that someone comes and stops you because you want to live but are to scared to fight back against the depression because you know how painful it is. The same with aguni since his friend died he keeps saying he wants to die but he doesn't want to pull the trigger he wants someone else to kill him and somehow he keeps cheating death because his will to live is much stronger and for some in this game its about finding their will to live being strong to face the world no matter how painful it is and like arise said before you don't need a specific reason living is enough of a reason.
