Sweet Wishes 🏮💚 - Process

Hello Patrons 💚

Here's my first painting of 2024! 🥰🎉

Thank you for helping me choose the colour palette for this piece! I wanted to paint a painting based on the year of the dragon; which is the wood dragon! 🪵 Since pink was included in the palette, I wanted to incorporate plum blossoms into the painting! So I decided to design the dragon inspired by a plum blossom! I know plum blossom trees don't accurately look like that, but I had to make changes to fit the narrative 😅

I'm trying this new method of not using the color adjustment tool in the middle of my process. I'm only leaving it towards the end! That way I can focus on fixing my values and making sure there's more depth and form to the painting rather than relying on colours to "fix" things! 😊 I'm enjoying this method so far because it trains my eye to notice what needs to be addressed in the first few stages of the painting.

Overall, I really enjoyed painting this piece! I had so much fun figuring out how to combine the pinks with the green palette 🥰
