Pikachu plush WIP #2: Arms, feet, ears and tail

Today we bring you a new WIP of our Pikachu plush ^^

After our last post, we started patterning the arms and feet. The feet are very simple, just a small 2D piece. But we wanted the arms to look chubby but without being too separated from the body. We had to make a piece that fit well on the plushie's torso. So after a couple tests looking for a shape, we got one we liked a lot!

Finally, we started to make the tail and ears. We will add a wire and foam structure to the final tail to make it more stiff and posable. But for the test it works like this. It was a bit difficult because in each 3D model and illustration, Pikachu's tail changes. So at the end we decided to make one that we liked and thought was cute.

Here are some pics of how it looks like with all the parts! The new pieces are made with a different color. What do you think about the prototype? We're proud of all the shapes we got and how chubby it looks. We like Pikachu having a similar body type as it's old design and Raichu.

A detail that we thought about is that we will make the fingers with thread sculpt. Pikachu has really small fingers, and in such a small plush we can't make them in the patterns. So we thought that we can try to make them with black thread ^^

As a downside, we ran out of yellow fabric to make the final plush, so today we will order more and will continue working on it when we receive the new fabric.

Hoy traemos nuevo WIP de nuestro peluche de Pikachu ^^ 

Después del último post, nos pusimos a patronar los brazos y pies. Los pies son muy sencillos, una pieza pequeña en 2D. Pero los brazos queríamos que se vieran gorditos pero sin estar demasiado sobresalidos del cuerpo. Teníamos que hacer una pieza que se acoplase bien al torso del peluche. Así que después de un par de pruebas buscando la forma y el patrón, sacamos unos que nos gustaban mucho!

Finalmente, nos pusimos a hacer la cola y las orejas. En la cola a limpio añadiremos alambre y espuma para que se mantenga más rígida y pueda posar. Pero para la prueba nos sirve así. Fue difícil decidir la forma porque en cada dibujo y modelo 3D de pikachu, su cola cambia totalmente. Así que al final hicimos una que nos gustase y pareciese mona.  

Os dejamos unas fotos de cómo se ve ya entero! (Las piezas nuevas son de un amarillo distinto, por si notáis el cambio de color). Qué os parece como se ve ahora el prototipo? Estamos orgullosas de todas las formas y lo regordito que se ve. Nos gusta que Pikachu mantenga un poco esa similitud con Raichu y su antiguo diseño.

Un detalle que hemos pensado después de las fotos es que probaremos a hacerle con thread sculpt unos dedos en la manita. Pikachu de por si los tiene pequeños, pero el peluche es aún más pequeño para hacer su forma en el patrón. Así que hemos pensado que con hilo negro podemos dibujar un poco esos deditos que tiene ^^

Como contratiempo, nos hemos quedado sin tela amarilla para hacer el peluche a limpio, así que pediremos hoy mismo más y seguiremos con el encargo al recibirla.
