Mermay Day 19 🧜‍♀️ / Patagonia ⛰️ - Process

Hi Patrons!

For today's Mermay, I made a jellyfish mermaid for a change and it's inspired by the snow-capped mountains in Patagonia!

Lately, I've been feeling pretty frustrated with my ideas as things aren't working as how I envisioned it. I was struggling with the resting pose for a while so I had to scrap the idea and work with the flow of the mountain. I didn't want to scrap the whole painting so I had to come up with a new pose!

I'm actually glad I let go of the old idea since it was nice to do a different sea creature for a change! I'll most likely touch this up tomorrow morning since I do want to refine her tentacles a bit more so it flows a little better!

EDIT: Made changes to the painting and I love this version so much more!

I think the old version didn't really have a cohesive colour palette and the was foreground was too busy! It really helps to look at your painting with fresh eyes!
