Clodsire WIP 2: Making tail, feet and the sewing machine test

Hello everybunny!
today we have a new clodsire WIP! We're very excited and happy with the work.

First, since we already had the body, we started working on the tail. Again, it's a simple shape, but we wanted to make it as accurate as possible. And after 4 tests, we got one that we liked a lot!
We then make a couple tests for the feet and pinned everything together.

In the photos, you can see how it looked like. We're really happy with the results, it looked adorable :D So with this, we could start working towards the clean plush. But since we will also make a plush with mochi fabric, we wanted it to be more resistant than usual so people could hug and cuddle with it without problems. So we wanted to sew it 100% with the sewing machine.

If you've read other posts, you may know that we hand sew the parts to each other most of the time. Because when you sew two parts together with the sewng machine, there's a big chance of the parts getting deformed or to turn out misplaced. Having a "hole" where the pieces meet makes the fabric stretch more and the shape is lost. We were afraid that this would happen, but we did the sewing machine test anyway.
To get these patterns, we first hand sew all the parts together. Then, we marked where were they placed and we disassembled the plush to get the new patterns.

Finally, we sew the prototype with these new patterns. And we did something else. We tried to sew a ribbon along the tail seam. It was the first time we tried this. The ribbon's goal is to remove the stretchiness of the seam and keep the pattern's original shape. 

And it looks like it worked!!Look at how adorable the last prototype is ;_; we couldn't helpt to draw the face and color change to imagine it better. 

Honestly, it turned out way better than we expected given it was the first machine sewn test. We want to change the feet a bit because they are facing down right now and we want them to be more flat on the ground. But everything else kept the shape pretty well. It even looks more squished on the front.

This last test has given us a lot of energ and we are already working on the color blocking test, where we will also remove the seam on the mouth. We will soon show you how it turned out ^^

Hoy traemos nuevo WIP de Clodsire! Estamos muy emocionadas y felices con el trabajo.  

Para empezar, como ya teníamos la base del cuerpo, nos pusimos a trabajar en la cola. De nuevo, es una forma sencilla, pero queríamos hacerla lo más fiel posible. Y después de 4 pruebas, sacamos una que nos gustaba mucho!  
Luego hicimos un par de pruebas para los pies y unimos todo con alfileres.  

Podéis ver en las fotos como quedaba todo junto. De verdad estábamos encantadas con el resultado, se veía adorable :D Así que con esto, podríamos ya empezarlo a limpio, pues tenemos todas las piezas. Pero la cosa no acababa ahí. Como será un peluche que también haremos de mochi, queríamos que fuera más resistente de lo normal para que la gente pudiera abrazarlo y achucharlo sin miedo. Así que queríamos que todo estuviera 100% cosido a máquina.

Si os habéis fijado, la mayoría de veces nosotras cosemos las piezas a mano entre si. Y eso es porque cuando coses a máquina, hay mucha posibilidad de perder y deformar las formas de las piezas, o que no queden igual colocadas. La elasticidad cambia mucho, y el esfuerzo invertido en sacar la forma buena, se pierde. Así que con algo de miedo pero a la vez seguridad, hicimos la prueba a máquina.
Para sacar estos patrones, primero cosimos todas las piezas a mano. Después, marcamos como quedaban las piezas colocadas y empezamos a cortar y desmontar el peluche para sacar los nuevos patrones.

Finalmente, volvimos a coser el prototipo con estos nuevos patrones. Pero hicimos una cosa más. Probamos a coser una cinta de tela a la costura de la cola. Nunca habíamos probado está técnica. El objetivo de esta cinta es quitar elasticidad a la costura y así conseguir mantener mejor la forma original del patrón. 

Y parece que funcionó!! Mirad qué adorable se ve el último prototipo ;_; No pudimos evitar dibujarle ya la cara y el cambio de color para imaginarlo mejor.

La verdad es que ha quedado muchísimo mejor de lo que esperábamos siendo la primera prueba a máquina. Queremos cambiar un poco las patitas, que han quedado sobre todo algo bajadas y queremos que quede más subidas y rectas. Pero por lo demás, ha mantenido muchísimo la forma de todo. Incluso se ve algo más "aplastado" de cara.

Esta última prueba nos ha dado mucha energía y estamos ya trabajando en la última prueba, que será con el cambio de color y eliminando las costuras en la parte de la boca. Pronto os enseñaremos cómo ha quedado ^^
