Smile 2 - Movie Reaction

there's concept... and then there's execution.

Smile 2 - Movie Reaction

Comments

1:50:21 “You’re on a diet!” Ellen’s ditty from Finding Nemo was in my head for 20 minutes after watching the reaction lol

Henri J. Mertens

It's so amusing that you say you didn't like this movie because it looked like you were enjoying it almost the entire time 😅

Puffpower127

I watched the first one and I had no desire to watch it again. I think it just wasn’t my type of movie. I really wasn’t planning on watching the second movie but I watched it with you because I love watching movies with you. Anyway I still feel the same. Just not my cup of tea.

Leeza Steinbach

Watching this for second time made me notice the demon was injuring her right eye so that the final injury is easier to execute (also the foreshadowing of her mom’s right eye being stabbed)

X

I think i really only love this movie cos of Naomi Scott and the soundtrack, esp the song Blood on White Satin (the red performance ur computer struggled to handle lmao) which has been on repeat on Spotify since I saw the movie. Whilst the story is better than the first one, it was too repetitive and idk if there will be smile 3, but if there is I really hope they take the plot in a totally different direction cos 1 and 2 are too similar with nothing really happening.

Sophia Akbar

So basically ever since the dancers in the apartment everything from then on was the demon taking over and creating a reality for her that wasnt real. Only to bring her back when its time to perform in order to infect millions is what i got.

Valak Demonun

i didnt like the first film, this one was better but still, not great. I know what I like and what I don't. I like slashers. I'm not into ghosts or devils or magic or anything, though I can suspend my disbelief for a Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger, it's just difficult as I find ghosty possession devil movies silly, as I don't believe in ghosts and stuff...... plus I like rules, ghost films always contradict themselves and change what the ghosts can constantly do. That is not scary; it's lazy writing and bad horror. Still, fun video, was nice to watch a movie with someone as no one watches horror with me. im a new sub and looking forward to watching more films with your reactions

Andy Toall

The smile demon feeds off your trauma. As you slowly die your body shuts down, including your brain. I don't think this Morris was real but what he said is. At 2 minutes you start suffering brain damage. I could be wrongly thinking here but I think of smile demon enjoying a delicious succulent dinner. What is going to happen if someone starts taking all that food away? Is it going to linger or move to another more delicious meal(someone else)?

Eric Mueller

Voss is a real water brand. It feels a lot more bourgeois than Fiji, and it really makes you feel like you're better than people who don't drink Voss 👍🏾

MrDavis

i think the only reason I watched it was cause i love Naomi Scott. She did a phenomenal job with such a scuffed story imo

Alix Ross

this one has sooooo much potential- the smiling demon face on skye near the end is one of the scariest things i’ve ever seen- but it was predictable because we saw skye mid accident all throughout the film- it sucks, they could have absolutely scared our pants off with this FANTASTIC sound track but they kept missing

Angel Classified

SAT. WAITING FOR TERRIFIER 3 REACTION AS WELLLLLL, YOUR IN FOR A TREATTTTT

Leon

I'm not so sure it would work, since the entity is affecting the brain, not the heart. I think the only way to get rid of it is simply for the cursed host to be airlifted to the middle of Lake Superior and thrown out of the helicopter. Not a direct kill by anybody onboard, no witnesses to see the death. Chain ends. But the thing is, Robert Talley discovered that "there's been other chains in the past". So even if you defeat it, it will eventually manifest itself again, in the mind of someone vulnerable.

Chloe Calloway

yea you should've rewatched the 1st one before, you can't just go in a sequel without knowing anything... very annoying reaction to watch because of it, disappointed.

alex

because Smile was forgettable af lol i probably should have rewatched it before this, but also no thank u

Caitlin Marie

The guy at the beginning is the cop that got infected at the end of the first movie

Elliot Voelker

Honestly just happy you’re on board. I really do not like either smile movies. Not only do I find them unoriginal (better movies have done similar plot. See it follows). But they are just so depressing. If they wanted to stand out, I think they could have had a different ending. Also would have been more inclined to a sequel if it followed a character from the first one. These movies were a flop for me and I hope it ends here

Tom Tim

Nice detail! I didn't really think about/realize whose arm that was😁

Eric Mueller

Exactly. Also, it was Alfredo's arm, hence the skin lesions.

Chloe Calloway

I might be in the minority here, but Smile 2 absolutely crushed it for me. Dare I say, more than the first one. Don’t get me wrong, the original was solid, but Parker Finn came back swinging. He not only continued the story but also kept it fresh, keeping us hooked. Aside from Joel and the Smile Entity to bridge part 1 and 2, this film takes a whole new direction with a different character and story. For me, that actually worked. Naomi Scott’s performance had me locked in. Her character let us dive into the wild world of fame and the crushing pressures of stardom. Yeah, it’s a psychological thriller, sure, but it’s not leaning on that crutch. There’s strong visual storytelling, a killer (pun intended) soundtrack, and Naomi’s raw, compelling delivery. Combine all that with Parker Finn leveling up as a director, and you’ve got a horror flick that’s as thought-provoking as it is spine-chilling. Here’s a fun fact: Parker Finn got his start with Laura Hasn’t Slept, a short horror film that snagged awards at some fancy film festivals. The guy basically used it as a springboard for Smile. If you’ve got 11 minutes to spare, give it a watch. It even features Caitlin Stasey from the first movie. Watching Finn’s evolution as a filmmaker - starting with that Laura Hasn't Slept and growing into these films -makes you appreciate his art even more. Dude’s got range. Now, let’s talk about the reused tropes. Horror loves its clichés: jump scares, creepy grins, and yes, unkillable monsters. But the secret sauce is how you reinvent them. Take Michael Myers; the guy sits up like he just finished a nap in every movie, and we still eat it up. Or Oren Peli’s endless camera setups in Paranormal Activity. The key is making it better every time. If you can keep us glued to the screen even when we know what’s coming, you’re doing something right. For me, Parker Finn nailed it, and I get that might be a hot take, but one that I'll stand by. And speaking of unkillable monsters—can we agree that’s part of the fun? Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, The Blairwitch… they’re all unstoppable, and that’s why they’re terrifying. The Smile Entity fits right in. Horror is supposed to feel inevitable. It’s like life reminding us, “You can’t outrun your demons, but you can scream at them in the meantime.” It’s existential dread served with a side of popcorn, and I’m here for it. Honestly, I didn’t expect to love this movie as much as I did. But hey, for me, Smile 2 delivered. Whether you’re here for the scares, the story, or just the conversations afterward, it’s not a bad sequel in my honest opinion, though I'm not here to change any minds, just express my thoughts on it. After all, horror isn’t just about the blood and guts... it’s about what sticks with you when the credits roll. And for me, this one definitely stuck: Like a 45 lb plate... smashed to your face... repeateadly!

Raj Hudek

Unfortunately Skye wasn't in the right headspace and wasn't mentally prepared to do what had to be done, and by the time she was ready it was too late. I believe the smile demon moved up its timetable to partial possession (sticking arm down her throat in back-up dancers scene) because it IS a way to get rid of it and if you are enjoying a fine 5 course dinner meal, you do NOT want all that food taken away from you😁

Eric Mueller

I love how your expression changed from grossed out to a big smile when u realized the blood stains on the road mirrored a smile. Lls.

La Toya Sheri

The smile demon is not impossible to defeat. I actually thought stopping your heart and then resuscitation to get rid of it was a good idea and am truly curious to know if it would work. Maybe in the 3rd one?

Eric Mueller

You should watch the boogyman 2023

Jenna Lawrenz

the movie itself wasn't that great but THE ACTING ate

yourdearplant

I suppose I agree with your assessment of the movie. I personally enjoyed it a lot, but you made a good point that the hook of "tension building -> jumpscare" is repetitive. BUT on the other hand, I think the direct does a great job of building that tension, especially when it came to moments when Skye is performing/rehearsing; there's a lull of security because the performance and music are good enough to take the edge off the constant nagging feeling of dread before it slaps you back down with a surprise that reminds you what kind of movie you're watching. Though I do wonder where they intend to go from here, considering that ending basically meant the Smile entity was supposed to go bigger/more widespread, plus having a supposedly impossible-to-kill enemy does get tedious By the by, I would recommend a reaction of a movie called Last Shift, it's a 2014 film that I think could be up your alley in terms of the different kinds of scares in it

Metron29

I would LOVE to see you watch Strange Darling, it has such a good twist! Also, have you considered watching Wicked when it's on streaming?? It could tie in both sides of your content!

ReeceW 206

I really loved the one-shot attempt of the opening sequence too. Even tho there are probably some well-placed hidden cuts, the whole sequence is supposed to convey a one-shot.

Nick of Time

"Less than fortunate..." Apt description not only for your water incident but this movie as a whole.

Niqua

I hadn’t watched this movie because I wondered why they would bother making a second one after the first one pretty much explained everything anyway. But I was like hey I’ll watch it with you and see why they thought that was a good idea and I have to agree with everything you said. What was the point of all the money and time that went into making this movie 😂 it’s just a reminder of the “smile”, like they went hey let’s remind everyone this curse thingy exists with another movie pretty much expressing everything all over again in an even more drawn out way 🫠💀. I still don’t know what was real and what’s not, about to google and find out because what 😂. I love psychological thrillers, I study psychology at University so that stuff is all really interesting to me but I just can’t get on board with Smile, I personally think the first one was better in regards to the psychological stuff. It being a psychiatrist who gets it from her patient and we see the unhealed trauma from her childhood…etc. This second movie was kind of just all over the place, like a puzzle you can never truly solve

Case Heard 🫶🏻

How do you not remember Kyle Gallner, his face is literally the last shot of the first movie 💀

Emily Biles

She was also Jasmine in the live action Aladdin movie!

Alix Ross

Omg! Good thing!!!

Alix Ross

I knew I recognized that face. Looked it up and realized it was her. She's been a star for over a decade now but still so underrated

Tyler Calvin

that i can get on board with!

Caitlin Marie

HOLD UP, I KNEW I RECOGNIZED THAT NAME

Caitlin Marie

ugh i'm so glad i avoided the trailer!

Caitlin Marie

A choir of one, for those that are brave enough and have the patience and time for 15 minutes of a nightmare: https://youtu.be/dIjqDPFgDmI?si=mh6PIGEjThQSCNRL

Eric Mueller

Btw Smile 2 Deluxe is by far my favorite track right now from the soundtrack. I have a couple from Terrifier 3 but will wait till your reaction to share those. https://youtu.be/HPiU8po0Hpc?si=ITr-GjWzjRNvAdQ3 Smile 2 deluxe makes me think of the hopelessness and the finality to your fate against this creature. You are going to lose and die and it is just a question of when. In addition this track reminded me so much of A Choir of One from the Suspiria remake. Which if you haven't seen or reacted to that one yet...haha if you think terrifier movies are gory and over the top...a reaction or thoughts to the last 20 minutes of Suspiria (either new or the old one) would be wild and priceless to see.

Eric Mueller

Ooooh lol 😂

James Cobb

I can see that, but I thought each sequence was slightly more intense, they weren't all the same. But to each their own

Kaitlin Hilton

The tragedy of Skye is that she didn’t want to harm anyone, only for the Smile to make her kill herself in front of an audience, infecting who knows how many people who will infect more. I didn’t like the first film (too generic) but this one really tried to amp everything up. But I understand the criticism, too many repeats of the same thing. It’s still a large improvement from the first but I don’t begrudge anyone for disliking it. It seems like some of your confusion was from not remembering the first film which sucks but what can you do right? Really excited for your T3 reaction btw have fun with all of THAT

Eisa Hayat

see i would have loved this movie even more if they didnt show some of kills in the trailer

Alix Ross

100% agree! (she was also in the 2017 power rangers movie!)

Alix Ross

Naomi Scott is a star in her own right. I don't know why she's not more famous. She killed it in Lemonade Mouth 13 years ago

Tyler Calvin

The thing is, the smiler isn't unbeatable. Skye had a chance when Morris first met her, but she didn't take it.

Chloe Calloway

fair enough. respect your opinion though! looking forward to see what you check out next

Tionne

Totally valid, the unbeatable enemy is definitely tiring, I’m really hoping for a 3rd and final film with the demon being beat. A final trilogy with a beatable enemy lol

Berlynn MacPherson

i don' think it's about liking vs not liking psychological horror. i love psychological horror! but to me, this movie used the exact same sequence over and over and over with the same result which to me is just not captivating

Caitlin Marie

i love psychological horror! but this was just constant, repeated cliches against an unbeatable enemy which to me was boring

Caitlin Marie

i love psychological horror too! but this was just repeated cliches against an unbeatable enemy which to me was boring

Caitlin Marie

I watched this along with Terrifier 3 as a double feature in theaters back in October. Honestly liked Terrifier 3 more but, at least to me, this one was still a solid good Halloween time movie.

Eric Mueller

Didn’t love it or the first but I’m pretty sure the opening to this is Joel 6 days after the end of smile… still. Wtf. Lol

Jessica Leigh

She’s gotta start with a different Lars one first 😂😂 probably The House that Jack Built

Tswizz

You definitely should have rewatched Smile before this one, the beginning was a direct continuation it was so well done. And it definitely led me to think it was going to be about Joel but then he just gets taken out AAAH! The banquet scene was incredible because it gave us more Ray Nicholson! I would love a video/reaction of you watching interviews and stuff about these films, id be curious of any of the explanations/intentions change your view of them overall. ALTHOUGH perhaps you're just not a psychological suspense horror girlie, which is also fine! Thanks for reacting to it for us <3

Berlynn MacPherson

Should do Antichrist lol

James Cobb

Skyes entire album was released online by paramount. I like this one way more than the first. The performances were better and skye was a better character

Its ame mario

She drinks water when she wants to use drugs as a distraction :)

James Cobb

"Most people didn't like the first movie" It made over 200m and received high audience ratings?

Chloe Calloway

As someone who LOVES both Smile and Smile 2……this hurts. Maybe that’s because I love psychological horror

Tionne

I love that we get just enough of the random chaos that happens during recordings left in.

Aaron Farrell

Naomi Scott is a legit real pop singer though so you can stan her all you want :)

David S. Grop

Yeah I thought Smile 2 did SUCH a better job than Trap, at making us believe she’s a famous pop star

Henri J. Mertens

sad you didn't like it, i thought it was miles better than the first. maybe it clicks more for people who vibe with psychological horror

Kaitlin Hilton

This movie had pretty good camera work at times and a good soundtrack but unfortunately still ended up being pretty generic and stale, I agree

Aodhan 🇮🇪

I don’t the smile movies whatsoever mainly because I have a bad history with suicide. But that’s my perspective tho.

Mason Baldwin Music

whether someone loves or hates the movie, I think we can all agree that her songs are LEGIT

Daniel Murawske

yeaahh i agree, both are bad... can't wait for Terrifier 3 tho 👀

Patryk Walenczak

You need to watch "Truth or Dare" with Lucy Hale if you haven't already. That's where that smile came from

Tyler Calvin

I like this one better than the first for sure. It took me until after seeing Smile 2 and going on Google to remeber who the first guy was. Dont remeber the first movie all that well

Cat Rizzo

YUP

Caitlin Marie

i totally should have done that 🙃

Caitlin Marie

The opening sequence was a downgrade. Cute.

Nick of Time

Yeah, they made this entire movie on an expectation that we all remember the last movie which was dumb cause most people didn't like the first movie, I watched a video to refresh my memory before this one and it really helped

tom_j

not a memorable enough movie lol

Caitlin Marie

You not remembering anything from the first movie lmao... great start

tom_j

Wait I'm scared looking at that description, I really loved this movie compared to the first one...

tom_j

I love this movie but I understand why people hate it lol

Henri J. Mertens

It’s like you subconsciously knew I needed something to watch right now 🙌🏼
