Final Destination - Movie Reaction

Wacky Ways To Die: The Movie

Final Destination - Movie Reaction

Comments

Was about to say the same thing when I saw your comment. I'd forgotten how different it was back then. I'm reminded of a school trip I took in high school. In the 90's, "the bomb" was a popular phrase for something that's really great. As we were going through the airport security, my friend said, "This bag is the bomb!" While it's never been a good idea to say something like that in an airport, since it was before 9/11, the security guy just said don't say that, instead of him being arrested and thrown in airport jail.

Kevin (kpix01)

I’m late to this reaction; am I the only one who saw Robert Wisden, and immediately said “hey, The Pusher”?

Bryan Erickson

I mean..... It's exactly like the Scream franchise. Each movie has the same troup.

dontrell Durant

FD2 and FD3 are awesome! I like FD3 the best. Don't even bother with the 4th one. The 5th one has a great twist at the end, but that's about it in my opinion.

Michael Allen Moore - BHR

Please watch them all! I don't think the first one is the best but it's still good. However, 2, 3 and 5 are better imo. 4 is usually considered the weakest but I still recommend watching it. These movies make you afraid of everything! The movie is loosely based on the real life crash of Trans World Airlines Flight 800 which went from East Moriches, New York to Rome, with a stopover in Paris, on July 17th 1996. All 230 people on board died, including a group of high school students going on a class trip. Much of the news footage shown is actual footage from that. It is also loosely based on the crash of Pan Am Flight 103 on December 21st 1988 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The story was originally going to be the concept for an episode of The X Files which was inspired by the 1984 movie Sole Survivor. In this movie a woman who was the sole survivor of a plane crash starts being haunted by dead people that Death uses as vessels to try to kill her to correct its plan. Final Destination director Jeffrey Reddick was actually on a plane when he read a story about a woman who was on vacation and her mom called her and told her not to go on the flight because she had a bad feeling about it. She switched flights and the plane that she would have been on crashed. Allegedly, four historical persons have had similar experiences to the concept of premonitions and cheating death: Winston Churchill said that on one of his frequent car rides in London during World War II, an inner voice told him to avoid sitting in his usual seat in his car one day, and he avoided death when a bomb dropped next to that side of the car. William T. Stead, a newspaper editor who died in the sinking of the Titanic said he had premonitions of dying. There is an urban legend about a fireman named Frank "Lucks/Lucky" Tower who survived all three sinkings of the Titanic, Empress of Ireland in 1914 and Lusitania in 1915. And, lastly, Adolf Hitler claimed that when he was a young soldier in World War I he was looking for a place to sit down in a trench with his fellow soldiers when a voice almost literately "pulled him" off the place to sit down on the opposite side. Moments later a bomb exploded in the trench, killing everyone but Hitler (which is unfortunate). Considering his extensive knowledge of Death's design and how it works, many fans have theorised that William Bludworth (the coroner) is the human personification of Death or at least some kind of representative for Death. However, both the actor, Tony Todd, and the movie's producers have denied it. John Denver's song "Rocky Mountain High" is repeatedly used in the movie simply because he died in a plane crash in 1997, a couple of years before the movie was made. The song can be heard whenever some characters are about to die (Tod, Ms. Lewton and Carter). The idea for including his song in the movie came when writer Glen Morgan was in the Vancouver airport waiting for a flight when Denver came on over the loudspeaker (Kristen Cloke who plays Ms. Lewton was and IS married to Morgan). The original casting choices for Alex and Clear were Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst who would later star in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Mary Jane. Fun fact: Dewon Sawa (Alex) has appeared in 2 movies with Christina Ricci, both released in 1995: Casper and Now and Then. He was also in Eminem's Stan music video—he got the part because Dr. Dre saw him in this movie and loved it. Ali Larter (Clear) was in Legally Blonde, the TV series Heroes and a movie that's not that well known which is weird considering she stars against Beyoncé and Idris Elba (she plays a VERY different character there). Kerr Smith (Carter) was in the teen drama series Dawson's Creek with James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams and Joshua Jackson (the last had a small role in Scream 2 and in Scream 5 Jenna Ortega's character is watching the show in the hospital). The movie's original title was "Flight 180". New Line decided to rename the film through fear of confusion with other films like Air Force One or Con Air. The original plan was to have Death as a much more obvious entity as it was during Tod's death but it was decided to have the deaths look like rare accidents. Devon Sawa read the script on a plane and found himself peeking out the window at the engine every couple of minutes. In the opening scene, Devon Sawa was supposed to pretend to be asleep—he actually fell asleep for 4 hours. Ms. Lewton's conversation with the co-pilot to let the teachers back on the plane was completely improvised. When everyone is staring at Alex after the plane explodes, both Terry and Billy's deaths are foreshadowed—there is a picture of a bus behind Terry while the reflection of the plane is shown across Billy's face flying in a line right where the piece of the car decapitates him. In Alex's vision, Tod foreshadows his own death by making choking/hanging motions towards Alex after the girls ask him if he is willing to switch seats. Also, a skeleton figurine hanging in a noose is among the toys in Alex's room. When Ms. Lewton checks the smoke coming out of her monitor, an image of a large dagger is seen on her stained glass door in the background—A foreshadowing of her death. The door also has red and orange on it and on his way to Ms. Lewton's house, Alex sees ashes floating around his head, both foreshadowing the fire. While Billy, Carter and Clear are driving to Alex's home, Carter sarcastically threatens to kill Billy, foreshadowing Carter's actions indirectly causing Billy's death. While Carter is trying to "take control" Billy's hat falls off his head, mirroring the top half of Billy's head falling off the bottom half, foreshadowing his death. In the movie, Tod's name is spelled with one d instead of the traditional spelling of two. In German "Tod" means "death". The title of the movie can be seen on a tag on Alex's luggage when a stewardess is putting it on. When the students are boarding the airplane, Alex looks down and sees a luggage cart with the number "666" on it. When Alex's ticket is torn at the checking desk before he boards the flight there is a text that says "Your final flight" if you look closely. The song "Into the Void" by Nine Inch Nails which contains the words "final destination" is playing on Carter's car radio right before Terry's death. Right after Terry gets hit by the bus everyone is sprayed in blood. When Alex turns there is a 7 on his cheek, in blood, in reference to the 7 people who got off the flight. While Alex is sitting in his bedroom reading a magazine an owl lands on a tree branch outside the window. In many cultures, owls are viewed as omens of death. In the last scene at the cafe, the sign that kills Carter spells 18o (180) in reverse. There is an alternate ending where Alex dies after rescuing Clear, who later has his baby (which she names Alex), saving her and Carter from Death. You can see it here: https://youtu.be/FrhnRChU5VQ?si=mxRdHGZH-kKJg_0X—It's bittersweet. The test audience didn't like it so the filmmakers shot another ending where Alex is decapitated by a crashing police helicopter. But again, the test audience didn't like the fact that Alex dies, so they shot the one that was used where Alex lives and Carter dies. A sixth movie is set to be released in 2025 under the name Final Destination: Bloodlines. It is said to be a reboot that will deviate from the standard formula the series is known for and is centered around first responders.

Heida

You gotta at least watch the 2nd one

Cat Rizzo

I was thinking that, but I couldn't quite remember. Thanks! :)

Jonesy96

She's seen Hush already

Keiron Laer

Nailed on the head at the end lol. It is a series of how many random death scenes can we conjure up, While loosely threading a story along. Never supposed to be taken super serious. It's just a nice lil early 2000s teen thriller rom.

Switch

3 is the one that stuck with me over the years. I still recommend you watch that one!

Tara Cabache

Please Watch the 2nd one , its better and crazier

YB YB

2nd and 3rd are definitely same vibes, but better. But I also recommend the last one because of the twist. The 4th one is by far the worst and not necessary to enjoy the other ones.

Eric Covell

🎢⚰️

The Gamer's Club

I definitely believe you should check out the next films in the franchise !

Colby

This movie came out in 2000, the airport security reaction to saying the plane was going to blow up would of technically been appropriate since this was pre 9/11. So glad you decided to watch this movie! Love the reaction.

Bailey Creager

Tony Todd the mortician is the narrator for Layers of Fear 2.

Avi Gossai

They do get better. The first one was just the appetizer.

Klljoyy

2 and 3 are definitely the best. I want to see your reaction to the log truck.

Jeremy White

I agree with everyone that you should at least check out the 2nd I like that one a lot more, the movies get gorier and also a lot more unsettling imo.

Timothy

Please do polls or take suggestions in anyway got so many but I don’t think u take suggestions or read comments

Jamie

fear street pls

reub

Wacky Ways To Die would have been a better name for the franchise. As everyone else is saying, 2 and 3 have some of the most memorable scenes, and they will make you scared of mundane items and situations. If you haven't seen Cloverfield, it's a found footage movie that you might like. Also, The Empty Man is a really creepy and unsettling movie.

Senjak

yeah, wasn't very scary but interesting. How did the girl dying by the bus surprise you tho! we saw the vision he had of the bus right before and then she went to stand in the road!

Emily Grace Lambert

Agreed!

Spooky Casper

I know you didn't exactly like the movie, but as others have said the 2nd & 3rd ones are definitely the best! There's so many death scenes that you'll always remember and think about during your everyday life (I still can't ever look at log trucks the same). Would love if you could muster up the time to watch those two!

Spooky Casper

One thing I love about this movie is how it takes your everyday life and turns into a horror that you can't escape. It made me anxious about doing anything the first time I watched it. I would atleast watch the first three if I were you. They are the best and most interesting. Number 3 is my fav. :) Also I don't know if you've seen it or not but you should give Mike Flanagan's 'Hush' a watch.

Jonesy96

These are more comedies than horror these ones lol

JSmoak

This franchise is not the best place to find classic horror. I like action so these are fun for me. The first three are the best. But, I'm glad you at least saw the first one. The beginning is so intense and you have to see it to understand it! I hope you try 2 and 3. I want you to see the iconic logging truck.

Lizz Locke

you HAVEEEEEEEE to do the 2nd and the 3rd they are WAY more fun

Joey Monda

The 2nd is my favorite one in the franchise. There is a new one coming out and I hope it's good.

La Toya Sheri

The 2nd and 3rd one are the best

Xavier Ybarra

Seeing all the comments, you obviously have to watch the 2nd and 3d, everyone love them!

alex

the 2nd and 3d one are the BEST. S O G O O D. the 1st, is okay. I'm SO serious, watch the 2nd and 3d one! They're really good. Way better than the 1st!!

alex

I’d love to see you cover more found footage movies like The Last Exorcism, Unfriended, and The Sacrament ❤️❤️❤️

Captain Astro

I like this film. To anyone, say what you will but this has one of the best intros of any horror movie. It gives me chills every time I see it. It's like that line from Titanic, 'you can be blase' about some things, Rose, but that intro kicked @$$!'

Niqua

Not you deciding to watch this the week before you have to fly! 😂 This is one of my guilty pleasure franchises. I especially love two and five. I feel like they eventually figured out the vibe and pace of the series.

Ellen

The second one has JJ from CM

Brenden Darsey

I love the 2nd and 3rd final destination films so much more than this first one !!

Colby

This was so fun (and "cute" lol)! It was absolutely delightful watching you have no idea what was going to happen in the first 20 mins of the movie 😂 how did you manage to avoid the plot of these movies from pop culture? I have no idea but it was truly fantastic seeing you work it out 👏 I'd love to see you react to the 2nd one (it's my favorite) 💖 thanks for another great reaction, Caitlin!

Puffpower127

The Final Destination franchise is my guilty pleasure. None of them are them are great movies - honestly, I’m not sure any of them are even good movies (though I think Final Destination 2 is probably the best of the bunch). But despite all that, I love them and I watch them on repeat

JumbleChaos

Tbh this film isn't my favorite, but the franchise as a whole is pretty solid. The second one is alright, but they really find their footing with Final Destination 3 imo

Jade Hunter

Not saying that the candle is burning your shelf while watching Final Destination 🫣

Henri J. Mertens

Oh and since you mentioned Lost: the FBI agent with the glasses was on that show and died a very sudden and Final Destination-ish way.

David S. Grop

Honestly, it doesn’t shock me to hear this is how you felt about it. As someone who was 10 or 11 when this came out, I remember that this really embodied the style of movie back then. By today’s standards, these movies really are kind of cute. But they also tend to be pretty fun. I will say that although the 4th is a true hot pile of garbage, the series as a whole tends to be pretty fun and an easy watch. I would recommend them, not as the end all be all of horror cinema, but as entertaining.

Donttouchmymilk

Not me rewatching these movies the same time you start them.🤣 This is my second favorite franchise probably behind Saw. You have been hit by the Final Destination effect! I hope you do continue this as I quite enjoyed seeing your reaction to everything.

Chris Ryan

Total icon at 44:33. Now you gotta watch Candyman.

David S. Grop

This movie was pre 9/11 so the unusual timing of your upload is slightly worrying. Play the lottery or something. Go touch grass later during the week if you’re flying out soon. ✈️ We care about you too much for it to be a slight coincidence.

Gio Vidrio

Have you seen the Jordan Peele horror movies? Specifically Us or Nope?

X

This movie isn’t very good but I still love it lol

Henri J. Mertens

One of my favorite franchises! Can't wait to watch it with you.

PlumDutchess

Girl when are we getting the willson reaction 😭🥹😔

Sebastian

I hope you continue this franchise at least for the second movie because there is an actress in it that you probably know/love

KlaraM

Oh boy this is a good one

KingBacchus_504

Yay! 2 and 5 are my personal favourites in the series

hjbjms

Caitlin! Love all your horror reactions. Would you ever react to the Alien movies? The latest one, Alien: Romulus is one of the best scary movies I’ve seen this year with a crazy final act and some incredible horror elements. Would love to see you react to the main series of those movies, or at least just Romulus!

Leon

Let’s go!!! The Final Destination movies are lots of fun. Even the “bad” one lol

Iggy 5150

Omg I’m so excited for this!!! One of my favorite franchises!!!

Stephanie Welper

My personal tier list 1) Final destination 2 2) Final destination 5 3) Final destination 3 4) Final destination 5) getting shit on by a pigeon 6) Final destination 4.

Its ame mario

One of my favorite horror movies/franchises ever!! So happy you're visiting this film and hopefully will continue with this franchise. The first film is my personal favorite and Devon Sawa is one of my favorite horror kings! So sad you didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped for so I understand if you don't want to continue the series. I guess it's not for everyone. The 4th film is the only one that doesn't work for me but other than that, it's great overall.

Tionne

Omg. I gotta watch this tonight. You are one of my favorite you tubers girl. Your content is always entertaining. Especially horror. My favorite genre.
