2024-10-07 11:02:19 +0000 UTCI loved this movie so much...until Longlegs ruined it🤦♂️ I am totally okay with supernatural elements in a serious, grounded horror film. However, i cannot suspend my disbelief that someone as insanely weird, illogical, and fruity as Nic Cage in this movie wouldn't have been on multiple government watch lists for a very, very long time.

The way that it was filmed and the overall atmosphere was amazing, but I wasn't a huge fan of the ending either...even though I see what they were going for. 2024-09-14 23:42:09 +0000 UTCHaven't seen Longlegs yet, but I 100% agree about The Blackcoats Daughter, I expected a casual Blumhouse style demon movie and was completely blown away, it's such a treat for everyone who likes slowburn horror and I can't wait to watch it with my friends to see them react to it :D

2024-09-12 16:35:11 +0000 UTCOz Perkins, the writer/director for this film is an incredible director that has made a bunch of horror movies that are weird and not for everyone. Personally I highly recommend his first film "The Blackcoat's Daughter" / "February" It has a very similar slowburn atmosphere to this film, with an interesting structure to its storytelling, but I think it nails its themes a lot better than this one did.

I tell ya, its interesting hearing your commentary throughout because I’m so many ways I was thinking along the same lines with what was going on lol this movie was completely batshit crazy. As to the ending ? I’ve come to believe it was intentional for it to be ambiguous, because my first assumption at first was “ok they left but Lee is definitely F**ked” but after seeing this a third time? Something tells me she got possessed….and finished the deed, hence the hanging shot of her just staring at the doll. Who knows? But that’s the point I think. Because realistically evil, And I mean EVIL in this nature is always an indescribable, and sometimes unexplainable, side of humanity. And that, for me at least, is what makes this type of filmmaking so quintessential

2024-09-04 02:21:53 +0000 UTCI've actually thought about this movie for a few days. The technical aspects are really good (the shots, atmosphere, acting, sound design, etc). As well this movie had a strong start. The plot was a bit much. I eventually gave up trying to understand and just rolled with it. I want to give this movie some credit because it's seems obvious care was put into it and it has quality aspects but man, it just didn't stick the landing. That ending was underwhelming. As well, is it asking too much to have a bit more of an UPBEAT conclusion? The world sucks enough right now, lol. (I get it, evil never completely goes away, it's a horror film, blah blah blah).

This movie is one that I feel is more enjoyable the second time it's watched, because when you know where it's going things make a lot more sense lol it's pretty convoluted overall. They should have extended it by 20 mins, it was only 1 hrs 40 mins, and provide more back story on Longlegs and the satanic aspect. But I love this movie, cinematography and atmosphere are 10 out of 10 in my humble opinion. Thanks again for watching Caitlin!

Still, the plot elements just seemed so random that it was hard to enjoy anything that was actually happening. The twists and turns in Insidious on the other hand were always surprising but they still felt natural and satisfying

2024-08-30 22:33:33 +0000 UTCI feel this movie is a James Wan and Stanley Kubrick baby, I also felt the highly similar ideas and scenes to Malignant and also noticed the multiple symmetrical slots, while I loved the direction the plot, just like Maxxxine, fell off in the third act for me but I had such high hopes!!
