As Above, So Below - Movie Reaction

Comments

I got jump scared by her banging on the table 😭😭

KingBacchus_504

Another movie I recommend that is found footage is Hell House LLC!

Stephanie Welper

Chernobyl Diaries is like this, but in chernobyl

Chris Cramer

I did a catacombs tour in Paris and honestly it was fascinating! I really do recommend it if you're visiting. You can't just walk around through the tunnels entiiiirely unchecked, most people book onto private tours like I did just because of the added information about the history of the place and the lack of a wait time - if you don't do a tour, you have to queue up and get tickets to go through the main entrance, and this queue was 6 hours long when I turned up for my tour. I will say though, the main passageways and tunnels that you are allowed to walk through are very obvious, but the tunnels that lead off that you will guaranteed get lost in if you go down, are not the most secure and it would be quite easy to do that if you really wanted (absolutely not advised, you would never find ur way out and die down there lol). there is (or at least was when I went) an underground community that exists in Paris that frequently sneak into the catacombs into the off bounds huge tomb rooms to have parties etc! it really is a crazy place

Another horror movie a little bit like this is β€œTriangle” 2009! It’s more of a universe time-loop horror than supernatural

X

Yo, I live how you said, "squarular"! I've never heard anyone else say that!😁

Ethan

you should check out the descent! it has similar vibes to this! make sure to watch the original british version

Kaleb Meridieth

Not my favorite horror film but it's still good til the end, yeah the whole sleeping beauty could of been different, but that's the final write so... As always, dig your channel and if you ever wanna be in an episode of a teen superhero show I'm working on, let me know. It's the least I can do as a fan.

Lmaoo the kiss scene was so random πŸ’€

Aodhan McWilliams

Lmao, the Grim Reaper from cartoon network - It's from Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy! Haha I laughed so hard at that part when he walked by.

Hedonistic Archives

If you loved this, you’d love β€œThe Pyramid” it’s a good scary found footage

Hayden Gilmore

this is by far my favourite movie, im so glad you liked it! <3

Sidney Prescott

I adore this movie! I knew you would love it with you loving the found footage genre.

Brandon Curtsinger

For found footage I'd recommend "Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum". Very creepy Korean film. I also enjoyed "Hell House LLC" (and the 2 sequels), but I understand this series is not everyone's cup of tea.

Tagyru

So glad you did this one...definitely in my top 5 horror movies!

Valak Demonun

As you are....so it will be :)

Valak Demonun

So happy you reacted to this film! It’s one of my favorite horror movies of all time and was so fun to rewatch with you. Like you said I think it’s such a unique concept. Yes I’ve seen cave horror, supernatural horror and adventure gone wrong horror but never in quite as well an executed combination as this. And the cast is great! It has huge rewatch value. I feel like I understand something new each time I watch it.

Loved this reaction πŸ’—πŸŒ±

Some found footage horror suggestions (most of which have already been suggested by many others): The Last Exorcism - Definitely underrated and just super scary. Narratively, it poses an interesting perspective on the feasibility and practice of exorcisms Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum - Just the setting of a movie in an insane asylum is freaky V/H/S and V/H/S 2 - Some stories are better than others but the fact that the movies contain multiple short films is an unique take on the genre

iMiller21

I was loving this movie until the last few minutes 😐. The ending was so incredibly anticlimactic IMO. Great reaction as always though πŸ™‚

The catacombs in this movie represent the 9 circles of hell i believe I saw online and the deeper they go through the tunnels is like going through each circle of hell and that one guy they meet and follow leads them down in the depths of hell so they can't escape

Alix Ross

Yea honestly I feel like the kiss itself is kinda irrelevant. It just shows us that they've repaired their relationship. It mostly her "becoming" the stone thats important

amen467

Flamel is a celebrated alchemist who is creating the only known Philosopher's Stone in existence which is a mythical alchemical substance cable of turning base metals into gold and silver! (ik the movie mentioned it but just in case lol)

Alix Ross

i only like found footage when it's done right and isn't cheesy and predictable other than that I don't normally watch it

Alix Ross

The reason behind the kiss near the end was because of the "flipped" world they ended up in (hell), she went back to put the stone in the wall because it couldn't work there, it was explained earlier when they talked about the alchemy creed, the whole as above so below speech where she states : what is within me is outside of me. The philosopher stone is an object (outside of her), and it worked in the normal world. Therefore, in the flipped world, it is implied she has the power of the stone inside of her. She then goes on to apologize to her father in order to let go of her regrets, and also heals her ex-boyfriend (or at least this is what we can assume) by repairing what was broken between them, their relationship, with love (= kiss). Yes this is far fetched but that's the justification in the movie.

Playful

Love your content and happy you found something you like! I don’t like found footage stuff though- does anyone else agree? I prefer more polished and produced movie stuff. Just interesting

The Last Exorcism & The Sacrament were mentioned up above so some others - Lake Mungo (2008) is a really good found footage film made to look like a documentary. More a creepy mystery than jump scare horror but a few good spooks. - Afflicted (2013) 2 friends go on a foreign trip and one of them starts to get mysteriously sick. - The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014) a daughter wants a camera a college camera crew to document her as she cares for her Mother who has Alzheimers, and creepy stuff starts happening. - The Tunnel (2011) Alot like As Above So Below, A film crew doing a story on The Tunnels that are under Sydney Australia, and the homeless community that lives there and they get trapped while filming. - Megan is Missing (2011) A teenager meets a guy online, who might not be who he says he is. - Willow Creek (2013) A couple go into the woods as a joe to find Bigfoot and instead they find something scary is after them. - The Last Broadcast (1998) Came out 1 year before The Blair Witch Project but is forgotten because of the Blair Witch success. An investigative documentary crew with a public access show go into the woods to hunt "The Jersey Devil" - Amber Alert (2012) A couple filming a "Survivor tv show submission tape" receive an amber alert on their phones, and see that the vehicle in question is right in front of them on the highway. - V/H/S (2012) & V/H/S (2013) are anthology found footage films with the setup being in each movie different v/h/s cassettes are being played each movie has 3 or 4 different found footage stories, and there is a little connected story that happens in between each V/H/S/ tape being played, like why do they keep watching these horrible V/H/S tapes. - The Poughkeepsie Tapes (2007) Made to look like a documentary A crew, maybe cops? I can't remember lol get a bunch of VHS tapes about a serial killer and his crimes, and they race to get through them and collect the clues, to catch the killer. One of the first found footage films. Each of the films have high points and low points, that's kind of the calling card for found footage, it's like watching The Blair Witch, there were some really creepy parts, but then there is also like 25 minutes of them just walking around, cursing at each other while being lost.

Matt

Would definitely love to see you rewatch Cloverfield if you are up for it. In the found footage round, there's The Last Exorcism which I think might be your thing if you haven't seen it already. The Sacrament (2013) is a good one too although it isn't spooky horror and mostly falls into the disturbing horror (it is loosely based on true events)

Robbie Corrie

There are alot of videos about this movie, how the catacombs represent Dantes Inferno's 9 layers of hell

Its ame mario

An absolute Found Footage Juggernaut. I've watched this countless times. John Erick Dowdle, the director, actually wrote the script for Quarantine which is the shot-for-shot American remake of Rec which you watched a few weeks back. Can't wait to see your reaction. Still hoping to see Happy Death Day with ya one of these days (but I get that you're not a huge slasher or dark comedy fan), but you have been watching some absolute bangers to make up for it! Keep 'em coming!

Raj Hudek

I love this movie. So excited to watch this

Anthony Urbina

Love this one!

ItsWilson

I don't like this movie, but somehow it makes me feel like I like it πŸ˜…

Woody G
