The Cabin in the Woods - Movie Reaction

Comments

Bro bought her Patreon just to hate

Jamie

who leaves a comment like that?

Lizz Locke

I love this movie but it doesn't have to be for every body! Thanks for giving it a try!

Lizz Locke

She’s kinda dumb

Faith S.

Damn. Her constant questions & opinions before she knows the facts is annoying, but I love this movie. It’s a movie. Just watch.

Faith S.

Drowning would definitely be the worst, or burning to death

Branflakes

I think why so many people love this movie is because as you said it’s nothing like you expect from it, it’s pretty unique In its own way.

Branflakes

I finally get to see you watch this lol

Branflakes

First Comment. This is 1000% the cast of Until Dawn. I know you said people ruined it (kinda) since you watched others play. But I know a lot of us would die to see you do a playthrough and pick which characters you'd have live or die!

Joel Wattigny

I'm sorry you didn't like it. I'm not a big fan of the movie, but I also think you might have pre-judged it. Because you missed a lot of the clues the movie was giving you about its story early on. I suspect this because you were asking about what was going on till late into the movie. I'm not being critical of you. As someone who makes a living as an editor it's hard to focus on your comments and follow the movie or be entertaining at the same time. I will say your patron intro is too fast and hard to read because of color choice.

Ninja Bear

To each their own, nobodies gonna like everything someone else does, and in fairness horror comedies are usually always comedies with horror themes. I love this movie because it explains most of the stupid decisions and clichés you see in horrors, like using a weapon to defend yourself once and immediately dropping it after.

Joshua Nyquist

Ehhh. Cabin the Woods is a weird horror movie that tries to be different. It has a strange plot, confusing references, cliché characters, awkward humor, and a controversial ending. It’s hard to judge.

Davante

The first time I watched this movie, I was in still in high school, and I was definitely disappointed because I was expecting something different. As time has went along and I have watched this many more times, it has grown to be one of my favorites! It explains every horror movie where we wonder “why would they do that” or “where did this thing come from”, all while making fun of horror movie tropes. But it’s definitely not for everyone!

Brandon Curtsinger

little late to the Patreon party after finding you yesterday, but I have to say as someone who LOVED this movie when it first came out, watching it again I completely get where you're coming from. I find it's a fun first watch but to watch it again it makes for boring film to me. Maybe because I was 16 when I first watched it, but the humour is cringe to me now and there's no scares just action like you said. Still fun to watch with you and see your view on things and how different my opinion has changed.

Claybee

You should watch "The Menu", its one of the best movies of this year, it has anya taylor, its a disturbing movie with so many twists and so gooood.

Jamal

Have you seen Quarantine

Michael Carrion

You sorta figured out the twist but only about 1/3 of it. So the "old gods" are the audience aka you. The reason why the Virgin dies last is the final girl troupe. Hence why Marty needed to die before Diana. The thing with other countries is a forgein film reference. As long as we get 1 good horror movie a year that's good enough. So when all the year 9 Olds lived that makes for a poor horror movie. There's deeper references but these are all you really need to know

Cobwebs

Have you seen the Visit yet?

Kayla Gerber

Nah, I wouldn't put this on Youtube. Had a fun watch, though. Still waiting for Hereditary!

Dropkogel

I hope you won't get too much shit for your opinion. I personally love the movie but not everyone is the same. Different people like different things and it is fine. And it is cool that you are honest about it and about what you like and dislike instead of just saying you love it just because the movie is popular.

Tagyru

I think it's great that you tell us your honest opinion. I don't think cabin in the woods is a real horror film. He's not really scary. Really good horror horror movies are: The Descent, The grudge, chernobyl diaries and unfriend.

katrin

Id put As Above So Below on that list

Valak Demonun

I wouldn't consider Unfriend a horror film at all. Looks to be a very heartfelt drama.

Erik Kuhnle

I didn't find it scary either, just fun.

Erik Kuhnle

katrin

Nothing wrong with the stoner in a horror movie 🙌🔥

Jerimiah Buchanan

You gotta love Eren Yeager making an appearance like that at the end. Fucking Rumbling STILL going on. 🤣🤣🤣😭

dontrell Durant

Hi im new here. Do you do polls on what movie next to watch?

Erick

Okay I get it and that's valid and you don't have to like everything haha I still enjoyed watching this with you and I appreciate your honest reaction haha for me the social commentary is what makes me love horror-comedy, like I wrote a whole ass 10 page paper on Tucker & Dale vs Evil for my literary theory class cause I feel like the genre has the ability to comment on real life very much the way that Shakespeare's comedies did, like they can tell people things they don't like hearing about because no one's taking it seriously but its planting big brain seeds lol I quote "society needs to crumble, we're just too chicken shit to let it" all the time haha this movie, Tucker & Dale VS Evil, and the original Evil Dead were my gateway into horror and because of that they'll always be special to me but I still respect your review and honestly do understand where you're coming from, and not everyone likes everything, that doesn't make it a bad movie lol like I don't really like Avatar (blue people) but I recognize its recognition lol something can be a great film and still not be everyone's cup o tea

Meghan Blust

What’s wrong with a lot of modern horror movies IMO is that they aren’t scary, just over the top and gory. So it’s weird to me for Cabin in the Woods to satirize modern horror movies without actually being scary itself lol. Kind of a pointless exercise in my opinion. But I’m still glad people enjoyed it. I just wish it made me laugh more, so many jokes fell flat for me

Henri J. Mertens

I watch lots of horror movies, and a big part of the fun of this was all the references I saw. (The Hellraiser puzzle box/cenobite, the Shining twins, etc etc etc) and the jabs taken at horror tropes I feel were done amusingly rather than mean-spirited, yet still shine a light on where horror movies have been (in some peoples' opinions) going wrong in the last couple decades.

Erik Kuhnle

That’s interesting. personally I think it’s the opposite, I feel like this movie is made for people who don’t normally watch horror movies. That’s why I was surprised at how much praise this movie got from horror fans

Henri J. Mertens

The big thing about it isn't so much getting the premise, which is handed to the audience pretty early on. I think this movie is more for people who have seen a lot of horror movies or are at least pretty familiar with much of the references, and those are the people who are going to enjoy it more. I believe you're still early with your experiences in the genre, am I right? I can see you missing that element of enjoyment from this film and thus what's left spends its payload early on.

Erik Kuhnle

Man, it was actually tough watching this with you because your distaste for the movie was almost viscereal about halfway through. Though I loved this movie for various reasons, I have no problem when others don't enjoy it. I honestly just felt bad because it was so obvious that you were not enjoying it. It does make it all the more meaningful that you felt obligated to finish watching for the reaction. Sorry we all got your hopes about this movie. We don't all have to agree that something is great every time and I do appreciate you watching it for our satisfaction. Thanks for the honest review. No satirical horror with action: CHECK! I'm still putting my vote in for Happy Death Day. I checked your Letterboxd and we haven't covered it yet!

Raj Hudek

scream franchise next!!

ReeceW 206

Yeah that movie is so much better in my opinion. Delivers both the comedy and the suspense, with characters you care about

Henri J. Mertens

Also I think Caitlin would love Tucker and Dale vs Evil, because those characters are genuinely funny IMO

Henri J. Mertens

Misery would be a good watch also. Kathy Bates delivers in that film

connor kemmerling

But that movie is even sillier. I think Misery would be more up her alley, since it’s genuinely suspenseful with well balanced dark humor that’s not silly

Henri J. Mertens

Always like hearing other opinions on this movie. Love the until dawn comparison. Have you thought about reacting to old horror (rosmairies baby, alien, exorcist)

Its ame mario

I had fun with this but I can agree it could’ve been shorter overall. Btw Have you considered watching Malignant? I have a feeling that’s more up your alley.

connor kemmerling

was gonna watch it one time but was put off when I saw the movie is listed as a horror/comedy, but I might still enjoy it idk we’ll see ig lol

Aodhan McWilliams

Hands down a cult classic! It's definitely not what you think it's gonna be, but for me the subversion of expectation was what made it soooo good. The humor is my kind of humor as well, but I guess it's not for everyone.

Raj Hudek

Also, the actor who played the stoner guy directed a movie called “Mass”. It’s a drama that basically takes place in one room for 110 minutes. But it’s emotionally gut wrenching and also somewhat inspirational in a heartbreaking way. One of the best movies I’ve ever seen

Henri J. Mertens

Ooo great film!!! Love it one of my top favorites! Ik it’s a cheesy movie at time but for me it works 😄❤️

Alix Ross

right there with ya bud

Caitlin Marie

I honestly hated this movie because it was nothing like what I thought it was going to be. I feel so left out because everybody seems to love it 😭

Adam

Loved this movie when I first saw it. But I rewatched it last week and forgot how cringe inducing most of it is. Also it’s funny how nothing about the story is mysterious. Everything is just spelled out for the audience , especially in the very beginning

Henri J. Mertens

its honestly been super fun watching horror movies with you! Thank you so much!

Aggrothehorse

:( Definitely one of my favorite movies smh..

amen467

Yes!! So excited to see your thoughts on this one! Some love the fact that it’s a satire and for others it completely misses the mark🤷🏻‍♂️ I’ve never met a person who doesn’t love Marty — “I’m drawing a line in the sand here, don’t read the Latin”😂

iMiller21

And if you want to continue down the horror comedy… Tucker and Dale vs Evil

J Ramos

I’ve been waiting since u mentioned it I’m so excited 🫶

SlayNow

Oh one of my faves 💕 I’m excited to watch

Zay

Yes. I’m so excited.
