Omg James by Maggie Rogers means so much to me, I share the name obviously BUT this song makes me so emotional. I got to listen to it at 12:30a in my car when it was raining once

James Henry II

Faye Webster is one of my favourite artists!! Her newer music is definitely more up your alley. I wish it hadve recommended her songs Johnny or Kingston. They’re definitely more your vibe!!

Jenna Moore

to answer your katelyn tarver question...i know her best from big time rush, however she didnt really sing on the show

Ashleigh

i love listening to these while i work. its like a jam session while im filling out paper work :)

Ashleigh

Love that you got Katelyn Tarver on here, even if it was a cover of hers. She’s been one of my favorites since 2007 when I saw her open for the Jonas Brothers. Her Subject to Change album is really good.

Renee

I have to agree, this playlist was really mid 😕

Henri J. Mertens

okay phew i'm glad to know i'm not the only one 😅

Caitlin Marie

Tbh I'm kinda with you on this playlist. I enjoyed a handful of the songs but thats about it. It's prob just a bad week, imo and the fact that most of the songs sound kinda flat and similar doesnt help either. Maybe give it another try next time and see if it's still giving the same vibe or you can figure out something new 🙌🏼

Jazz K.

Also Blaine is singing (Darren Cris)

Maddy

But what’s funny is I’m a huge Glee fan and love their covers

Maddy

When it comes to country, is it the country accent that you can’t vibe with? Or the banjo?

Henri J. Mertens

if you like Melt, you'll like the band Lawrence! The Melt lead singer is singing backup in this Lawrence song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C01nBm6vV5c

Brian fryin

Rina followed by Hozier is a mood honestly.

Liuzetz

Swan Upon Leda is actually a song about abortion rights. It references the Greek myth where Zeus disguised himself as a swan to r*pe Leda, who was married to the King of Sparta. (https://www.greeklegendsandmyths.com/leda.html) Hozier references a lot of Greek, Christian, and Irish myth in his songs, alongside current issues. In verse 2 of this song he also references how before abortion meds were legalized in the Republic of Ireland (2018), people used to smuggle them across the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland. In the chorus of the song, Hozier references how the "gateway to the world" cannot be owned by men or angels. On his social media, Hozier mentioned that he wrote Swan Upon Leda a while ago but decided to release it in late 2022 to show solidarity with women in America following the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

that makes sense! their new album in my opinion is some of their best work, but if i’m looking at it from the perspective of a new listener i can totally see how it wouldnt click. that’s why i always recommend diving into their discography starting from the beginning, since they have evolved so much. they can be an aquired taste, especially with how much they experiment with different production styles and genres. they def have stuff i know you’d like if you ever want recs for individual songs!

Julie

i can tell you the songs that i've enjoyed by them include: Somebody Else, Chocolate, and Spotify says I have hearted Be My Mistake and I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes). i've listened to probably half of the new album and it's not really for me. i do think i could find more songs by them that i like, i just think they're not really generally my vibe.

Caitlin Marie

i agree with this! roadkill is one of my favorites by them, but it’s because i understand and am used to matty’s approach to songwriting. i love roadkill BECAUSE of the quirkiness and humor…it makes me so happy. however i understand it not making sense to first time listeners. i recommended the first album as well!

Julie

i understand not getting the 1975 hype -- i actually used to be the same way, in fact -- and i think part of what's getting in the way is that you've only been exposed to their later, non-single stuff. so far, you've listened to "Wintering" and "Roadkill," which are two self-referential songs that are meant to be humorous and catered more to longtime fans, who are already used to the band's personality rather than new people just jumping in. and i feel like that's a bad way to check out an established band's work, when they have a library full of singles (and music videos!) that show them off better than those two songs. so i hope you don't give up on them (and hopefully, check out their singles and music videos), because they've become one of my favorite bands that i listen to every day (much like how 5SOS is for you). maybe you'll like them at that point, but i'll also understand if you don't, because they can be an acquired taste sometimes shameless self-promo: here's a playlist i made with all their music videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxR5OeOa5khUIVYyb-tmgNfMEAVMp9Tb7

Maggie is great! I feel like you would really enjoy her first album “Heard It In A Past Life” you’ve heard Fallingwater but there are totally a few more on it you would recognize! The album Notes from The Archive is a release she did while finishing her grad school where she re-released her first couple mixtapes on streaming services for fans. It’s her first solo stuff before college and before “Alaska,” the song which Pharrell discovered her for, went viral. She’s really cool! Also just as a fun fact she sings the background for “Girls Against God” off Florence’s album Dance Fever and Florence returned the favor by singing background on Maggie’s track “Shatter.”

aw roadkill is actually one of my favorites! the 1975 don’t really stick to a genre and tap into a lot of different sounds which is why i love them. and you stopped before it got to the good part lol ☹️ the song is about touring in america, and getting burnt out. matty’s lyrics are very funny, sarcastic, conversational…all with slight earnesty underneath. i find it endearing actually. def not meant to take seriously most of the time. once you understand that, you GET it. i think you’d enjoy their first album the most if you ever try and get into their discography again. the first album is def worth giving a chance!

Julie

i see the 1975 i click😭😭 so excited to see which song it is, and i LOVE that album
