Man I love that son too, if you watch Marina’s performance at Lollapalooza Brasil 2022 (search for Brasil spelled with an s) you’ll hear the crowd chanting “you” like 3 times during the second half of the show, unfortunately they’ll never get it :(

My favorite part of this video was your love for "You"! That's my second favorite song on the album behind To Be Human and I feel like nobody loves it like I do. I interpret it to be about a friend who makes you feel bad about yourself in some ways, not because they mean to, but because of your own insecurities, but you can't let them go from their close spot in your life because you're enchanted by them and couldn't bear to be without them despite the pain of constantly comparing yourself to them. I can't think of any other song I've ever heard to describe that specific facet of mental illness. It's such a unique song.

Ancient Dreams’ first couple songs are TFJ/EH style but the other songs, in my opinion, are more Froot/Love+Fear. it’s like chronologically divided from first album to last imo. however it is it’s own album altogether and i think it’s amazing :)

Okay, watched the video. Loved the reaction - L+F doesn’t get the hype it deserves. Fun fact, I actually flip the albums and tend to do Fear followed by Love (personal choice but think ending on End of the world leaves me so energetic - dark room is also a vibe) Ancient Dreams I think has some of Marina’s strongest lyrics and very much follows the thread of To Be Human and Savage (at least on the first half). I hear a lot of L+F in Ancient Dreams but also Froot, EH and a much more mature TFJ. It’s short, to the point and probably my favourite Marina albums alongside L+F and EH

She did quit music for a period of time after froot. She didn’t feel the same passion and wanted to work on other skills. She didn’t know if it was forever or temporary. Luckily she found love in writing again and came back :)
