Currency Update

Hello everyone,

There are several updates that Patreon is rolling in. Here are the two main updates discussed in this post today.

Currency Update

I already opted into currency choice. If you’re in the UK, EU, and US, you can now change to your local currency. I’m in the United States so everything charges in USD $. This is a good thing for others that are in the UK and the EU that have to pay the conversion fee.

Here’s a sample post that summarizes this better than I can:

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share some good news. Everyone in the UK, EU and U.S. can now pledge my Patreon in their local currency of Euros (€), British Pounds (£) or U.S. Dollars ($). This will help prevent you paying extra conversion fees from your bank or card when pledging in a currency that’s not your own.

Any new visitors to my page will see my tiers priced in their local currency of €, £, or $. For those of you who would like to switch your preferred currency you can follow these steps:

  1. On Patreon.com, hover over your avatar in the top right of your screen.
  2. Click Manage memberships.
  3. Find this page, and click Edit.
  4. Under Currency, choose your preferred currency.
  5. Click Update to save your settings.

For those of you outside of these currencies, you’ll continue to see your pledge priced in my currency.

Check out this help center article if you have questions about changing your currency, or this article if you have questions about how tiers are priced in these new currencies.

VAT and GST included in tier pricing..

This update shows the prices that include tax (VAT, GST, etc.) to any visitor from these countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, and many European countries (this link directs you to an article that provides more info in depth on this update). So from what I understand, it’ll show tax on top of the pledge charge that way you’ll know how much you’ll be charged instead of seeing how much you’ll be charged at checkout.

If you’re in the US, Canada, Japan, or other countries not on this list in the article, nothing will change.

Side note...

(I’m still flabbergasted to have support from various places! Everyone supporting from various places on Earth amazes me since I’ve lived in the same spot basically all my life. So seeing support from all parts of the world is pretty cool thing.)

:3 Thank you for supporting my work and believing in me!!!
