Rework Details: Revamped Interface!

The time has come to tell you about the first changes we’re making as part of the game’s rework. On the agenda today is the new interface, which we’ve tried to make not only more stylish, but also more convenient, interactive, and alive.

- Character Portraits

In the past, if a character didn’t have a sprite (because he/she didn’t play a key role in the plot), the character’s lines were often delivered by faceless shadows. That’s all going to change now: Secondary characters with interesting dialog will be given their own character portraits to make their appearances more expressive and help you better visualize what’s happening in the text.

- Dialog Windows for Characters in Backgrounds

Short conversations can now happen directly in the background. Doing this allows us to show some active character movements (for example, falling or cleaning) without having to draw entire full-blown CGs.

- Dialog in Combat Scenes

We’re introducing dynamic dialog windows that will appear in combat scenes at appropriate moments. This will help set combat scenes apart from regular scenes and add a little extra spectacle to them.

- Skill Tree

Ilias’s leveling will now have more depth and strategy. We’re completely overhauling the old skill window and adding a couple of new windows. We’ll discuss the new skill system in greater detail later.

The main elements of the rest of the interface will stay more familiar, but we’re giving them a stylistic facelift to make them more modern and harmonious.
