Clouded Soul Introduction

This has been a very productive week for me, and I'm almost done with the first phase of preproduction. It's time to unveil some more of the specifics about the next story I'm working on. The working title is Clouded Soul, and I have about eleven thousand words in loose lore documents now. As I said before, it's cultivation/xianxia/progression fantasy.

I haven't written down a full plot summary but the very simple overview is this;

The main character starts off in a small island isolated from the bigger world at large. He is the son of a respected merchant, but early on in his childhood he is crippled by a powerful sect leader because his father allegedly sold a faulty product or something of that nature. This leaves the main character bedridden and paralyzed from the neck down for most of his young life, and his family falls to ruin while trying to cure him. Instead of going down the path of hatred and violence, these years of confinement staring out at the open window makes the main character wiser than his years and he doesn't seek revenge- but instead, justice.

When everything falls to complete shit and he's left to die with no one left to take care of him, he happens to wind up in the same corpse pit as an unscrupulous Sage who is jaded and absolutely bored as hell of his immortality. The main character is able to get this Sage to feel something for the first time in hundred years and he cures him before somehow getting talked into training the main character up until the first stage of advancement in the form of a detailed montage that takes up a year.

His goal is to defeat the man who crippled him and his family and make them pay for their crimes, likely in a much more just and wise way than simple murder. After his first main advancement, the Sage will leave and the rest will be up to him with the implication that the Sage is now interested in seeing what this kid makes of himself. Protagonists will have to forge his own way to power, and yes, sex cultivation is a part of that. He will gather a harem of three girls for this first series- an ascended catgirl spirit, a reformed bandit queen with a demon problem, and the icy sole survivor of his island's strongest clan. Each of them will become his wife through the act of spiritual marriage, which makes sexual cultivation more potent.

The soft ending will be him defeating that sect leader after a couple of books worth of adventures and development on his little isolated island, and we can go from there if sales and view count permit. A very basic premise but with plenty of room to expand, and the focus will be on the character writing as it always is when it comes to me.

I'm now going to start posting some of the documents I've been working on, but a big thing to keep in mind is that none of the terminology is a hundred percent set in stone and things are liable to change when I'm actually sitting down and writing the story. I'll post the first in a second here, but I hope all this sounds interesting to you!
