Question for you Guys

Hey guys, question. This is one of those questions that I’m probably going to do regardless of how you answer but I’m curious about early thoughts but would anyone mind if I did some lewd short stories while working on Breeding Madness and Witches Going Live? These short stories would most likely be not fantasy and set in the ‘real world’, or more specifically the hentai world. The reason is simple for not fantasy- easier cover art and less work on my part.

I really want to increase my pool of work so that I have more reliable royalties, and this would be a fast way to do it. I was thinking they would be super streamlined 4 chapter releases- Intro, Development, Lewd, Wrap-up/Cliffhanger. And just cause I’m saying short story doesn’t mean they can’t also be ongoing series, the one I already have an idea for would be multiple installments. It’s just instead of a full novel I’d aim for something around the length of Coye vol 1 and charge $0.99 for it. Small, but it’d add up and it would direct to my other work.

Was thinking of making a somewhat meta one of a lewd writer in a rut who meets up with a sexy gyaru fan who teases him and says his stories are good but the sex lacks spice and he needs experience. And maybe he has this big book of lewd ideas she snoops on and she’s like oh shit we need to get the fuck on this, I’ll rope in some of my gal pals. Simple, easy, and fun. I thought it’d be cute and I’d work in references to real manga and shit I’m into and have her friends be diff types of fangirl. Idk. It’s all just basic ideas right now. I’d likely rely on other classic hentai plots/tropes that I’m a fan of for other stories.

As for cover art, that’s the big barrier here. I can’t afford a super expensive image for something as small as a short story and if they were fantasy characters that would require more elaborate designs versus me just being like ‘hey draw me a sexy gyaru girl and I’ll write a story based off of her’. But with the new commissions I’ve been doing, I can probably figure out something I can afford.

What are your thoughts on this? I just really want to have a better passive revenue stream so I can work on bigger stories like Coye and so on in peace and not have to always worry so much about money. That’s the main thing here.

Keyword here is 'short' story. One of the reasons I'm even thinking about doing this is my draft writers on both WGL and BM have been going a *lot* slower than they promised, and I'm not in the right frame of mind to continue Coye yet. 6 wiped me the fuck out and I need more money coming in to support big stories like it because all it made on launch month was roughly $600. I have friends in the genre who makes thousands per book on launch month, so it can be pretty demoralizing at times. I understand on the outside looking in it looks a little inconsistent on my end but I'm going through junk and trying to carve the best way forward to keep doing what I want- specifically Coye. It's my main thing, what I want to be my flagship, but it doesn't pay. Doing a lot of smaller stuff on the side while waiting for my draft writers chug away at their stuff to increase the size of my bibliography on amazon will only lead people to my other works, again, specifically Coye. Sorry if this is rambly. I just didn't like your implication and wanted to further clarify some of my thoughts.

3 books at once too....

If you spread yourself and nothing gets done people leave. Good luck I guess.

Thank you, I appreciate that.

Your content always comes out great so I don't think there should be a problem with a break from Coye until you are ready.

The implication is that Coye will still take a bit longer to get back to because I want to work on it when I’m in a better state of mind/financially stable. I don’t think the workload for this kind of thing would be very big, though. Shorter, less serious stories with less editing sounds like something I could pump out pretty fast.

I am all for it as long as your can handle that kind of work load and it doesn't burn you out. All content you put out is enjoyable so I am in.
