Extras - S1E2 'Ross Kemp and Vinnie Jones'

Comments

The Casualty line - it's like if there was a tv show named Hospital. The dude asks "Have you been in Hospital?" "Yes, I've been in hospital" (he's meaning an actual hospital) "The tv show called Hospital?" "oh, no then."

Johnny Johnny

Casualty is the UK equivalent of ER—it's a TV show and also the emergency wing of a hospital. Hence, imagine the line "Have you been in ER?" He responds, "Yes". Further, "the TV show?" He responds, "No". Meaning he has been in (the) ER—not the show.

Sam

Cheers

bobby g

lady who cut in line (Katherine Parkinson) is going to be new Molly Weasley in Harry potter tv show

steven bell

She’s my favourite part lol

Kayleigh

they’re doing it in november

sam patrick

OMG the Bill :)

Jamie Derry

Yeh the joke on the Bill and Casualty (to a lesser extent) is that so many actors have been in both as the bill ran for like 20-25 years and Casualty I would guess now 25-30. So where they say 'haven't even been in the Bill' it's a bit like every single actor both big and small has been at some time. With the Bill it was a Police show set in London, and for the good years when it just focused on police story lines and not slowly becoming a soap, in the 80's and 90's so many actors who made it big had one or two episodes in the Bill. If you google 'famous actors who have been in the Bill' the list is incredible, literally every British actor who made the big time has been in it when they were young.

Dave L

Maggie spoils the series

michael thompson

My mum was an extra in Casualty 😂 her and her friend were just walking down the road when they were approached

Emily

Maggie "Ashley Jensen" is great with Ricky Gervais in After Life...Afterlife you would love.

Your Precious Prints

Hey babe, that, is a twat 🎯

Kelpy

The blooper for this lives rent free in my head

Suixamoht

BYE NERD!!! 😂

Shuayb

Your faces when he said put a pit of minge around it! Priceless.

Paul Archibald

curse the dmca

mark

I think you missed the line where Ross Kemp said "I once headbutted a horse" and Ricky replied "He must have really annoyed you."

Terrahawk

Came here to say the same. IT Crowd is today and I think they'll love Moss.

Terrahawk

Vinnie Jones was a professional football player as well

david mitchell

'Oh your thirsty eh? Let's fill it up!' make me cry with laughter 🤣🤣

Dan Anderson

This is Zippy, the character Andy said Ross Kemp looks like ... https://rainbowtv.fandom.com/wiki/Zippy

Jules & Kev Morrissey

The show that really warmed me to Stephen, I went from he's okish to wow, we need more of him like this, underused in this type of role. They all do great work here tbf, classic.

emu cat

As Carol said , Spot on with the Twatspotting 🤣🤣🤣 Jess is on the ball with spotting them out now 🤣

Dan Anderson

Jess is spot on with her observation of a twat. 😄

Carol

This show just gets better and better guys

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

Hope you'll watch the outtakes afterwards. They're fantastic.

Kenneth Swan

Ross Kemp's facial expressions! Hahahaha

Lee

After seeing him being held up at gun point ypu just knew he had brass bollocks and wasnt fronting

Craigid Dave

Fair play to Ross Kemp for being a real sport on this episode and taking the piss out of himself. His documentaries are excellent btw I reckon Mike would be into them, he put himself in some really dangerous situations interviewing violent prisoners and gang members etc which is the point of the satire of this episode. Takes a lot of balls to have done the documentaries he did

Ash C

I think it was around 2007. I was serving on Hms Northumberland a British Royal Navy warship. We were out in the Indian Ocean. Ross kemp and a film crew came onboard for about five days to film a documentary. I had a good chat with him. One day a few of the sailors who had been watching Extras whilst we were away at see said to him. What was it like working with Ricky Gervais.? He said he was a right twat to work with. We were gutted as huge gervais fans. Then he said only kidding. He is great to work with. Ross kemp was a top guy. Enjoyed a few good beers that night down the mess deck.

Stu

i know guys like Vinnie or the way he is in this anyway, their movement and character u just not sure if you want to scrap with this geezer or not lol regardless if they a good fighter or not. Its just... meh ill leave him to be the alpha i dont even care anyway lol.

Demceez

No way.. I really thought we was going to see Vinnie and Ross go at it, i wasn't expecting Ross to chicken out, he struck the fear of God in to him 🤣

Mark R

The outakes of extras is hilarious with Ricky & Ross kemp and are on you tube

Tracey Duncan

wow I hadn't seen that before. Proper legend he is. You gonna kill me ! lol

Nathan Davey

“Put some minge around it”?! wtf 😂

Emma Edwards

51 credits on IMDb? That’s impressive. Are my detective skills on point?

Julian

One one of the few shows where the bloopers are probably funnier than the actual show

bdazzer85

I don’t believe this is correct. They’re watching in the US order. It was just the first two which were switched around.

Julian

Just a minor criticism I love you guys but you used to be a lot better about rewinding a bit when you talk so you don't miss anything. Recently I've noticed there's a fair few lines and jokes being missed because of not going back.

Michael

He is also famous for singing at Donald Trump's inauguration. He didn't actually do it but he's well known for it.

Jeffrey44

Until Extras, no one knew him as anyone other than “Barry from Eastenders”! 😂

Simon Chamberlain

Ross Kemp is actually a hard man.. and has done lots of TV shows where he went to the frontline in Afghanistan and has met serious drug gangs and traffickers etc. Good of him to be able to make fun of himself like this.

Jon

Shaun Williamson played a long term character 'Barry' on a soap opera with Ross Kemp called Eastenders. The thing about leaving for £1milllion actually happened.. with Shaun leaving the show and then couldn't get work. They turned it into a joke.. suggesting Steve Merchants character was his agent and this is what his life became. Everyone calling him 'Barry' rather than his real name is also part of the joke as it's all he's really known for.

Jon

I would genuinely pay extra to see them react to this. Frankenstein's Lab on Youtube have reacted to it (if you haven't watched it), whom I also like, and I return to it every few months.... But I would absolutely love to see Jess and Mike react. Let's get it on the next poll.

Simon Charlie

https://youtu.be/CgbcQIT7BMc?si=DpeC0zUAxr-0KTM2 Good old rainbow. Entertainment for the whole family.

Josh Read

The Bill (a realistic police show) and Casualty (the UKs ER) are long running TV shows. Nigh on every actor in the UK (even some A listers) have appeared in one or the other or both at some point. They tend to give upcoming actors a part in one show one week .. they might be the baddie or somebody involved in a car crash. They get a few lines .. can say "I'm an actor" and then move on to bigger things Oh and Ross Kemp is a bit of a tough guy .. Here's a video where is faced up to some armed guerrillas in his Extreme World documentary when they pointed guns in his face .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOMxEdH2yK4

Jay

Genuinely one of the best comedy characters ever imo. Up there with David Brent. Stephen's first acting role and he absolutely destroys it.

Simon Charlie

He's in Life's Too Short as well.

Keith Pratt

Casualty is a UK drama that has been on since 1980's. In some regionas of the UK they will say "Have you been to Casualty" referring to the Hospital. So, when he said "Have you been in Casualty" (meaning the TV show) - He said "Yes". Then the other guy said "The TV show?" - He said "No". The joke was that he was referring to Casualty as the Hospital... if that makes sense.

Lee Denbigh

He's in GOT , the jester at Joffery's wedding only just realised 😳

Isthereany1herecalledJohn?

Barry (from Eastenders) is his character’s name by the way which is why Andy says “alright Shaun”

Kieran B

Tony Way - the caterer - has been in loads of things (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo might be what you recognise him from). To be fair I’ve always had really good food on set as an extra, no pubes or dog hairs thankfully 😂

Kieran B

Everyone that’s remotely an actor has usually been on the Bill or Casualty. I think this was mostly before Ross did his documentaries and he was in a series about special forces (SAS) and most famously was in the soap Eastenders You definitely need to check out British soaps, Charlie Brooker did a good bit on US and UK soaps

Kieran B

You’re in for a treat. They only get better. Youve only scratched the surface with Stephen merchant’s character. Absolutely hilarious.

james mcloughlin

You missed the bit where Ross said. ‘ You dont want to end up in a fight with me ‘ in which Ricky replied ‘ or a conversation’.

james mcloughlin

This is the legendary grant Mitchell 😂

Jackdeel

Ross actually is hard. He was on a show in a jungle were a guy pointed a real gun at him and Ross grabbed the gun and looked the man dead in the face and said , you gonna shoot me ??? Then that was that. That day I knew Ross was the real deal

Mark Rudd

When you paused on steve, it reminded me of something very funny that you need to check out. It’s called Karl v Steve all the insults -(the thing that looks like him) 😆😆 seriously hope people agree and know what I’m on about with this haha

Mark Rudd

Ross and Barry really were on a show called eastenders. The only thing I’ve seen Barry on is extras and eastenders haha.

Mark Rudd

“The bill” was a 90s police tv show. They would literally use extras to make the show. And some people were cast twice which is why they’re taking the mick out of Ricky. Kinda like saying, you’re and actor and you haven’t even had a part in the bill. Everyone has been on the bill but Ricky basically

Mark Rudd

😆😆😆😆😆 never mind hahahaa. I didn’t realise this was extras some lol I thought it was that series Ross kemp on gangs or something.

Mark Rudd

I’m so confused when did this happen haha. Or when did I miss e1?

Mark Rudd

What a classy comment.

Jamie

That is a funny link, totally agree haha

James

Ross Kemp is so good in this episode, and a good sport

Brad Johnson

I don't read the comments to be honest, but from what you have both said you get criticism for some of your choices or comments etc.. I don't get this, if someone has a beef then they can go elsewhere. You both do a great job, loved this one, thank you..

MarkC

Never realised this until now… Ross Kemp is giving me serious Peep Shoe Johnson vibes here.

Jonny Davidson

Yeah not quite her Prince Charming after all.

Ian Warren

And it was exactly how we speak in Britain. I had to pinch myself. Is Jess actually from the UK?

Alan

MarkC

Ross Kemp was planning to explore the Titanic back in 2022 in the Titan sub a year before the terrible implosion, there's an interview of him thanking his Agent and Production team for deeming it unsafe!

Isthereany1herecalledJohn?

Mike and Jess if you are having problems with music copyright ..REN specifically has no copyright on his music and wants everyone to share his songs and he has someone to contact if you somehow get a copyright notification.

SEAN

Someone told me Ross Kemp has a slight touch of Down syndrome. And I haven’t been able to unsee it ever since, Jamie Oliver has the same condition

Sam Dilks

Could you please please PLEASE watch and do a reaction video to a season 1 blooper reel once you've finished season 1??? Or wait till you've watched both seasons and the Xmas special then do the full blooper reel?? Trust me, you won't regret it. Watching well respected actors unable to get through a scene because it's just too funny/ridiculous is just wonderful.

Ian

Super Army Soldiers*

Sam Wolsey

Out take compilation of this show is hysterical. A must watch!

Paul Coplen

Casualty is what a lot of Brits call the Emergency Room in a hospital and therefore the name of a drama serious based around a hospital - similar to the American show, ER.

Simon GrosvenorPoker

Thats a hard joke to explain.they still laughed at maggies dumbness

Col Boro

They have Google.

Tom

A right old twat! Thank you - I laughed loud!! 😂

Susan Jack

Gary and Martin Kemp are brothers who were in an 80s band called Spandau Ballet, who had loads of hits, most notably True (which you must have heard). They have also acted in films. The most famous being The Krays (about the notorious London gangsters in the 1960s). It’s not a great film, and Tom Hardy did a far better job playing both Krays in Legend. Martin Kemp was also in Eastenders, as was Ross Kemp (no relation).

Tom

Its a shame they dont know les Dennis which is a very good Episode if know his backstory hopefully the jokes still hit the rest of the episodes they know the celebs which is good

Col Boro

So far you've been watching the episodes in the order they were broadcast in the UK. In the US, it was the Kate Winslet episode that was broadcast first, then Ben Stiller, then this one.

Sigma

Great reaction guys,, Ross Kemp was awesome as the week heel in this,, Vinnie owned him haha. Daz fi Scotland :)

Darren Purves

They have google

Col Boro

The Bill was a police drama. The name comes from Old Bill which is slang for the police, and is widely used in London today. Here is an explanation I copied and pasted… The modern police force was a uniformed organisation founded in 1829 under the direction of Sir Robert Peel then Home Secretary, hence "Bobbies" and "Peelers". William IV was King and Old Bill is a reference to the King for then as now "constables are citizens locally appointed but have authority under the crown".

Tom

It's Jen from IT crowd in tbe toilet queue, you'll be seeing lots of her 😁

Kaye G

As soon as I get back from work I’m whacking this straight on!

Jay Walker

When Vinny played football for Wimbledon. I used to drive for a coach company that carried most of the London teams. First time I drove Wimbledon I had a run in with Vinnie. I mainly carried Palace and Chelsea. So guessing i wouldn't get Wimbledon again. Got back to base ,you've got them again on Wednesday. Lucky for me turned out my sister went to school with Vinnie and knew him well. Took Wimbledon about another six times. Great bunch of lads. They weren't called the crazy bunch for nothing.

Robert Gr

You definitely need to watch the outtakes of this episode. They're funny as fuck 🤣

JEFF!?!

I know they don't do music reactions anymore, so does anyone remember Oxide and Neutrino - Bound 4 da reload? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ-27rdwJPs It samples both the Casualty theme and Lock Stock with the - Ah, I've been shot...

Andy

And Casualty always needed some pleb in a sick bed.

Andy

Loads of people were in the Bill before fame (procedural police drama, 3 times a week) because it required an endless stream of criminals, grasses etc

na plz

No, it's episode 2

Woodsey

The other woman in bathroom queue is Katherine Parkinson one of main cast of IT Crowd

Adam Theaker

Not to be picky but you've titled this as episode 2 when it's actually episode 1 🧐

Ian

When mike says"Let's fill you up" he turns into David Brent, he even looks at the camera. When Jess says"Bye nerd" Mike turns into a Karen 🤣🤣🤣 You two are hilarious 😂

Josh Read

Ross Kemp's documentaries are well worth a watch.

Jonoridge

"Put some minge round it"

Simon Cross

I think now you can see why this is Episode 1. It gives a proper insight into Andy's situation, an introduction to Greg and his beef with Andy, and an introduction to Darren, of course. Anyway, you're all good order-wise for the rest of the series!

Captain Cardboard

I've worked in about 90% of the shows mentioned and with a few of the guys in this eposode of Extras. Had a long stint with Ray (the one Maggie fancies) on a show that I wont mention in case you react to it. 😅 Another classic episode. Awesome to watch you guys enjoy. 😁 Thank you!

Michael

I noticed that on an Outtakes of this episode, Ricky Gervais kept cracking up when Ross kept trying to say "Special Army Soldiers" very slowly and in Ricky's face. In this final version he says "Special Army Soldiers" much quicker and less in Ricky's face. I presume to help Ricky get through the scene ! 😂😂

South Coast Rich

A few years ago I did a few bits of extra work, and it was because I'd seen this show. I was in Emmerdale (a British soap mentioned by the twat), a music video, and a film called Bill which starred the Horrible Histories cast and Helen McCrory (Peaky Blinders).

ElvisLee

https://youtu.be/u_jLjz6FC0U Need to watch The Gentlemen from Netflix. Even if you can’t review it, it is BRILLIANT!. Guy Ritchie reunites with Vinny Jones. Vinny has really grown into a good actor. His face & acting skills have matured with time. Only 8 episodes but took Netflix by storm. Series 2 due soon ❤️

Clive Parry

Before he was an actor, Vinnie Jones played football for Wimbledon, Leeds, Sheffield United, Chelsea, and Queens Park Rangers and captained the Welsh team. He was a hard man then too!

Harry

Jess is truly an honorary Brit. Your use and pronunciation of "Twat" was perfect.

yo mo

Vinnie Jones was also an aggressive but successive footballer for clubs including Chelsea and Wimbledon.

South Coast Rich

Well to be fair barely any of the Celeb actors in Extras really are portrayed opposite to they're actually personality 😅

Aaron Joyce

Mike's talks a bit like Ross right? "I would fight them..." etc ;-)

Dandelion

Yes i think that joke wont hit like does for people knowing who he is

Col Boro

You need to react to all the outtakes! They're funnier that the show and no copyright nonesense!

Chris Howard

'He's a great actor' He's bloody rubbish, just like Jones 🤣🤣

Jason

Read up on Shaun Williamson (Barry from Eastenders), he’s a series regular

Adam

I dont know why anyone say the people in titles wont be in it

Col Boro

Eastenders is long running soap opera. Ross kemp was in that as tough guy grant Mitchell..in the show he had brother phil Mitchell. Also in Eastenders was martin kemp .. he was in 80s new romantic band spandau ballet, with his brother gary kemp. Barry from Eastenders was a sad dweeby character.. its funny that Steven merchant calls him Barry not his actual proper name 🤣 The Bill was a police series on tv.. and Casualty was also a tv show set in a hospital emergency dept.

Sarah Radders

Casualty is a long running medical drama a lot of extras would have been in. It’s also what we would call the accident and emergency area at hospital. The joke is that when she asks has he been in Casualty he replies yes (because he’s been to an actual hospital) and Greg pushes him about the tv show catching him out.

Chris Carleton

Jess is right the Bill and casualty are sort of tv shows like Law and Order

Col Boro

Ross Kemp probably won't be well known in the USA. He played a "hard man" in EastEnders for years, the London based soap opera. After he left that, he played an SAS/ special forces Sergeant in "Ultimate Force", which is like Christmas Cracker jokes - so bad, they're good. Until it wasn't. Then he started doing documentaries, usually embedded with troops in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban, or meeting gangs on their turf in deepest Africa and South America. They are worth reacting to! In one episode, with a gang of people traffickers, one suddenly pointed his rifle at him and Ross Kemp didn't blink or panic. Calmly asked him if he was going to shoot him and if he wasn't, to point the rifle somewhere else. So, he's nothing like he's portrayed here. Articulate, good head on his shoulders, won't back down from a fight and certainly wouldn't have backed down from Vinnie Jones (who is no-where close to as tough as he's shown to be in Lock, Stock and Snatch!) That aside, brilliant episode. 😅👏🤘

MarkeB

The Bill was a long running police drama (1984-2010). Casualty has been going for 39 years. Both series have employed practically every actor in the UK as every episode features a new cast of characters alongside the regular cast of emergency workers dealing with whatever crisis is unfolding that episode.

Pip

I look forward to this when I get back from school drop off 🤓

Nathalie Grainger Bradbury

The people in the titles will absolutely show up every episode

Adam

Yes!
