React to Oasis- half the world away

Josh

Oasis Live Forever Maine Road MUST be the next one from the GOATS

Gerard McCartan

This was a B side to Wonderwall. Listen to the original track

Gerard McCartan

Slide away, Chicago 1998 should be in one of your poles. Probably the best live acoustic performance I’ve even heard/seen, gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. If anyone hasn’t seen it before it’s highly recommended

Lee Yarker

In their heyday Oasis b-sides were better than 99% of the stuff other bands were releasing as a-sides

Strawbs Shem

So many B sides from their first two albums. I’m absolutely sure they did it on purpose to hide some gems (like The Smiths did). I Will Believe off the Supersonic single is great.

Duncan

if you can believe this was a B-side song!!!

Victoria O'Donoghue

Much prefer The Beatles song Everybody's Got Something To Hide (Except For Me And My Monkey) from 1968, to be honest. But each to their own. Whatever makes you happy is right for you.

Ian Warren

The Beatles (Oasis's favourite band) literally made knickers wet. I think they regret that as they used to then be thrown on stage by the fans. But I digress... I was never too fond of Oasis (yet I'm from Manchester) but this performance has made me look again. This was beautiful. I've only ever known them from their hits, and I find them okay but I'm not a fan as such, but songs like this, and Half A World Away, are changing my mind.

Ian Warren

Never a big fan of Oasis, and I'm from Manchester so they could technically take away my Mancunian Card for saying that (made up), so I came into this thinking, meh, I'll try it. I actually loved this more than their many hits. That was beautiful. Hmm, maybe I could become a fan after all.

Ian Warren

Was at oasis in Dublin on Saturday night. Even better than the last time, which was Cork, almost 30yrs ago..so good live

Neil Tolerton

Not as good as muse plug in baby 😂

Shane Doolan

Always thought Oasis were just boring. After all the comments here I gave this a watch, and it was a load of shite. 🤣 The people voting this have to be trolling surely?

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

Give it a rest man. You've been at it all morning in replies. We get it, you don't like them. Go make a reddit post about it. This is not the place

RegenerationNationTV

And this beat Muse in a poll, crazy. Matt Bellamy has more talent in one fingernail than all of these guys put together

SpayMe

If they heard Oasis they’d think that the human race only knew how to write basic, simple riffs. Oasis see completely mediocre at best.

SpayMe

I still lived in Stevenage (nearest big town to Knebworth) when this happened. One of the only Knebworth gigs I didn't sneak into. If you grew up in Stevenage or Knebworth back then it was a kind of rite of passage - and we all knew "ways" and yes, one of the Knebworth gigs I went to was Queen - Freddies last gig. I actually live in Knebworth village now but the really big gigs are pretty much a thing of the past

Simon Crockford

Oasis are one of the bands that for years to come, will make knickers wet 🤣😅😅

Dan Anderson

When The human race inevitably goes instinct, the next sentient species I hope will find a record and understand it's for music, and will hear OASIS, they will understand completely what humanity stood for, and the reasons we were hostile as a species.

Dan Anderson

Just a reminder, we still haven't had "Me and my monkey" by Robbie at Knebworth yet and that's a criminal entertainment absenty in the Knebworth pool of works.

Tass

Oasis my big mouth Knebworth. Let's get Liam singing. The lead singer.

Neil

?

ColdStarr

Well done, you 👏🏻

Paul

100%

Paul

So we're reacting to a b-side? Oh I forgot it's Oasis. Yawn!!!

Paul Coplen

I think you guys would like the Importance of Being Idle by Oasis

Anglan

One of the best B-sides of all time!!??

Chris Kay

"There's four and twenty million doors on life's endless corridor" Beautiful, profound and tossed into a b side.

trev

Should definitely listen to the music video version, cool video

BrizeeB

They are only better on the songs he sings, Noel's much better for this song than Liam would be

BrizeeB

TBF it only seem like 19 years, time moves faster as you get older.

Fordy7169

Haha, no shot did Jess just say 19 years ago 🤣

James Welsh

Noel’s glance over to Mark Feltham (harmonica) towards the end, as if to say “not bad mate, not bad” is brilliant. Epic song, epic gig.

Derek Fleming

19 years ago was 2006...

Ever So Sweet Mary Jane

Definitely suggest reacting to the documentary ‘supersonic’. It goes though the years of oasis first forming up to this gig at knebworth, very 90s nostalgia, I think you guys would enjoy it

Andy O'Sullivan

I jumped the fence , watched Prodigy and fucked off when these wankers came on Cheers

Luke Gale9

Banging will never forget being at there Loch Lomond gig makes me feel old

Bcam007

Oasis killing it atm with their comeback shows in the UK, soon in North America. But definitely worth checking out more Oasis in the 90's and even their recent comeback shows and of course the Britpop indie scene of the early to mid nineties

Paul Tully

I'm a lifelong Oasis fan and this is one of my favourite songs of theirs, but the Muse performances are another level. Knights of Cydonia from the same gig is great as well

Chris H

The homecoming gig at Heaton Park last month was incredible. Best night of my life! Manchester vibes in the areaaaaa

CJ

OASIS - Some Might Say (Live at Knebworth) [Sunday 11th August, 1996]

David Jones

https://youtu.be/jj_jJl5bBfU?si=-1mTAAIZ4YJGNkJH

David Jones

Love oasis, love the song. But liams vocals are way better than noels. We need more oasis 😁

Jay Lo

Yeah without Liam singing your not getting the full Oasis experience in a sense, it's very different

Richard Stokes

19 years ago? Try 29! God, I feel old.

sjay

I like this song. I like Oasis. Would really like to see a reaction to a Liam (lead singer) song. Noel songs are great for respite on their albums and live sets.

Richard Lees

I'd not actually seen this before, but as it popped up I thought I'd have a look as it's an amazing song so thought this must be the most amazing version... Um... harmonica much. Wuh??? 🤣 this is like an ode to a depressed tramp in Hyde Park or summat. M&J, hope you react to the song proper.

Si

Now you've said that, you need to get your duster and bottle of Glade out to polish the spot on the 'Oasis at Knebworth' halo that you've just tarnished 😇

Si

Dja wear a black armband when they shot the man that said peace would last forever

emu cat

Karlos

Either I'm missing a joke or key reference or you need to work on your maths there.

Kenneth Swan

That may or may not be the case, but Oasis put in great live performances. The Beatles were not a particularly amazing live band; their best work was in the studio. And the Beatles own influences are well documented.

Paul08031977

Was Jess's reaction to Noel saying "you can dance if you wanna dance" a reference to Men Without Hats? 😂

Karlos

Agreed. Euro 96 and the music was the peak. The pubs we went in then were amazing round this place. Should see the state of it all now. Definitely regressed not progressed the last 30 years. Would love to have those good times back though.

Si

Acquiesce 💚 Talk Tonight 💚 Rockin Chair 💚

Si

This was a B-side track on the Wonderwall single, along with Round Are Way and The Swamp Song. I remember rushing out to HMV Manchester one weekend to buy the Wonderwall single, because I'd watched them play Round Are Way on The White Room the night before and needed to hear it again and again. The Masterplan as the last track on the single was more than added bonus!

White Dwarf

Stop lying Si 😂 Oasis songs are always better live! Especially Liam’s voice - studio Liam sounds very over processed and nasal.

Emma Edwards

Studio version miles better.

Si

Between this and the football, summer '96 was the pinnacle of Cool Britannia. And no matter how much people shell out for hyped reunion shows or say "It's coming home", it's never coming back.

Charlie

😂

Nathalie Grainger Bradbury

Need to react to the full Knebworth show, it was great my brother and his mates had tickets went but sold them outside to a tout for stupid amounts of money

Rob Pontin

I do prefer Liam. My favourite is Slide Away. I’d love to see them react to that. Same concert ❤️

Emma Edwards

19 years ago? I've not felt this young in years... (It's 29 years)

Andy

Some context on this one. They did two nights at Knebworth, it’s a massive venue to fit 125k people, so 250k over two nights. 2.5 million people applied for tickets, which was the highest demand tickets in British history at that point in time. They could easily have sold out an entire week there. If you do any more Oasis reactions, always make sure it’s a live version as it’s always better than the studio version. And Knebworth was one of their best concerts. Robbie later went on to do 3 nights (the Angels reaction you did was one of the nights at Knebworth). I don’t think anyone has ever done more than 3 nights there.

Emma Edwards

Oh god no. LOVE OASIS. HATE NOEL'S VOICE!!!

Dandelion

I remember being a kid, recording this entire gig off the radio live, keeping a little travel alarm clock with me to remind me to run in and turn the tape over every 45 minutes

Human#19138980

All I can hear is Don't Look Back in Anger, but i'm sure that's intentional?

Jamie

Please watch the same song live at Wembley from last week to see the difference in the crowd participation

lee

1996 was 19 years ago? Got some bad news for you Jess

Mark McKeown

welwyn garden city lad here, my family could hear it, while i was at the concert with my sister

Silly Uncle Andy Farmer

The absolute best version of one of my top 5 Oasis songs x

Emma Edwards

man i was there that night it was epic!

Silly Uncle Andy Farmer

If only 1996 was 19 years ago. It means the last 10 years were a dream… Hopefully the Muse video gets voted through on the next poll. That’s a banger as well.

Julian

I could hear this concert in my back garden

Colin Welsh

I was there! (I'm showing my age now). I was 17 years old at the time. Knebworth was £22.50 for a full day of music, with Oasis as the headliner! The crowd was about 250,000 people over the two days of the gigs. Mad times!

AdamMcAdamface

I do prefer the studio recorded version but this is a great live rendition and the added harmonica does give the song a different flavour. It's easily Oasis's best song in my opinion, kind of surprisingly excellent, but I am not a fan of Oasis overall. I see them as "pub rock" in truth, little more than a Beatles tribute act with one or two original moments, and I say that as a big fan of The Beatles. 🙂

Ash Jeffries

It was chill because it was noel singing not Liam

david mitchell

Me and my mates have huge connection to this song, the sound of my youth

Rich

To be fair the harmonica doesn’t really feature in the actual recorded track but it adds a lot here, worth noting that this song was actually a b-side and never released, a song that good and Noel just classed it as a b-side, the guy is just the best

Chris Harding

Got married 3 years ago and this was so close to being the 1st dance!

Paul Archibald

29 years ago by the way. They performed this at Murrayfield last weekend. Best concert of my life

Chris Carleton

That's some poor maths right there.

Ian Roxburgh

Inspired by the Beatles, who wasn't?, Beatles from Liverpool, oasis from Manchester, go figure that out 😲

Billy

I'm in there somewhere.

Lemmy's Mole

Now we’re talkin!

John M Whalen

Chance would be a fine thing

Jonny Dade

29 years ago peeps.

Paul Archibald

What a show but 1996 was 29 years ago not 19👀😂 sorry to make you feel older

Charlie Payne

This is an absolute belter. PS: Mike's harmonica face 🤌🏻

Jonny Dade

TUNE!

Paul Archibald

Cool, but whens Peep Show drop?
