Account clean up has gone sideways! @#$%

As you all know I try to be forth coming when something goes sideways with the site or the management of it.  Well prepare because I have some bad news.

It's that time of year when I go through the database and remove accounts that don't have valid email addresses and remove them.  

This year we have some 2700 users that apparently can't remember their email addresses correctly or just never bothered open the validation email and click the link, either way these accounts...

Log4j zero-day flaw

DMV is unaffected.  We do not use the log4j modules.  This includes the Windows Version that includes datomic which is also unaffected.

Patreon Intergration! Is this thing on?

Not sure what is happening the last couple weeks on Patreon.  We have had a few reports of new Patrons that never got their status on Dungeon Master's Vault com

If you didn't get your Patron status in DMV please let me know and I'll fix it for you.

Continual improvements

While not a lot has changed on the code side of things - we do continually make improvements to how we host Dungeon Master's Vault.

Recently it was reported that the generators were slow - and I mean slow.  Turns out that google bot and bing bot where crushing the generators by indexing them.  After making a few tweaks via web master tools we are now seeing almost half of the bot requests were were seeing in the past.

Which means better response times for you.

Why do my Images keep Disappearing from the Image/Faction URLs

This has been a question I have heard many times over the last couple of weeks.

In a nutshell the UI doesn't do a good job of validating the image urls.

We clean those url's out of the database that don't match the regular expression (https?://.*.(?:png|jpg|jpeg|gif|png|svg))

Gmail is having issues = password resets and verification emails aren't working

Patron integrations - explained

Recently we replaced the Patreon to DMV integration so it should be much faster now. 

Clarification on how your Patron status gets from Patron to DMV.

When you sign up (or renew/modify) your pledge - Patron reaches out to DMV and updates based on your Patreon Email address.

Your email address must match on both DMV and Patreon.

It should be pretty close to real time and you will receive a success or failure email.
