2025-08-02 23:25:38 +0000 UTCHope after t h e christmas special you are going watch the David Brent spin off film where Rickys character pursues a music cd career. They even released an album of David Brent songs. This film finishes the story of uk office.

2025-08-01 13:20:19 +0000 UTCRicky Gervais once said one difference between the US and UK culture is that the US love winners but the UK loves the underdog/loser, I think this explains the sympathy for David Brent over Neil.

2025-08-01 10:46:28 +0000 UTCDavid would make you redundant for a promotion, slag you off, make you listen to his music and copy your fashion mistakes. Neil wears a tan colour leather-jacket without irony. I'd say they're both equally evil.

2025-07-31 10:38:47 +0000 UTCYeah was weird watching live at the time seeing the whole dynamic changed round with david tim gareth dawn etc but great episode for cringe, feeling sorry for him, hating him again then seeing how sad heโs become, its all for show heโs at his lowest, told u youd end up feeling for him, cant wait for next one now๐

2025-07-31 01:10:36 +0000 UTCMy read on David's promoter guy is that he isn't shady or a scammer.. He just dabbles here and there in casual small-time party events and suddenly he's thrust in front of this camera crew as if it's a big deal and feels pretty uncomfortable. To add to that, as a small-time events organizer, even he thinks David is a nobody but has been asked by him to carry out this work for him. He just feels awkward imo. lol

2025-07-31 01:06:10 +0000 UTCI can't wait for the final episode. The entire 2 and a half seasons have been leading up to this.

2025-07-30 20:17:52 +0000 UTCI donโt know how anyone could be โTeam Neilโ. Sure heโs a good boss and professional but he has an air of smugness and even pretension about him. He projects a facade of being a good guy but doesnโt shy away from taking opportunities to put down Brent. Brent is a plonker and a bit over the top but deep down heโs a good guy whose life hasnโt turned out quite how he pictured and is just desperate to be loved. If you knew a Brent in real life sure your eyes would roll at times and youโd think just relax mate but you know heโd be a much better laugh as a mate/someone to have a pint with down the pub and probably someone you could confide in and when it came down to it would have your back whereas Neil isnโt the sort of bloke you could really trust. This might be a difference in culture too as in Britain we love the underdog and self deprecation is a core part of the identity and culture. Someone who is a bit obsessed with having the top job, flash car and trophy wife and a bit of a snake isnโt what we are about. Perhaps this will all become / bit clearer in the finaleโฆ

2025-07-30 20:15:48 +0000 UTCLoved seeing Mike losing it to Brent's music video. I've never laughed at that bit as much as I did when watching the reaction.

2025-07-30 16:45:00 +0000 UTCIt's funny, i've seen this special a million times, and only now watching non-british people react to it do I realise, there's a lot in it that is super british sentiment in the way it's constructed. Mike, almost everything that it felt like you were mulling over about Neil allowing David to be around the office when he doesn't work there anymore and Brent's sad arc in this special etc all feel totally normal to the British culture. In the UK vs America (broadly speaking) we have a bleaker outlook, everything's smaller, lower budget, lower expectation, lower stakes.... In reality as well as in entertainment. So alot of these aspects feel totally relatable and known over here, without question. There might even be something of that in the way Gareth and Brent are still friends whilst constantly undermining eachother. We live in tiny towns, on a small island, who else you gonna go be friends with? You've put too much time into the relationship already. Also with Tim not having any mates, I feel the same about that. I know a lot of men Tim's age over here, including myself, who are good guys but everyone's busy, everyones making families, and they've lost touch with all their friends along the way and are just working through life. I think anyway. I might be talking out of my arse, but that's the sense of it I have having spent my whole life here, but watching America at the same time. For instance, had the office been a real documentary, and David Brent been a real person, at the time this was made in the UK, his shitty low budget night club run, with a pathetic agent would have almost certainly been what actually would have happened to him. A lot of Reality TV stars from the early 2000's ended up on that track. I've never thought about it before. I don't know whether America has the same reality TV star appearing at night clubs just to walk on stage and do nothing thing. But it happens alot over here. Or certainly used to. Sorry for the ramble, started typing and couldn't stop. Love you 2, its a pleasure watching all these old favourites through your eyes. Appreciate your thoughtful input Mike. Keep 'em coming.

2025-07-30 14:06:21 +0000 UTCMike, keep reacting the way you do, you have good insights and assessments based on your life experiences. It's your (and Jess's) reaction channel after all. P.S. Neil is a top manager in this - professional, fair and with a sense of humour when needed. People who think otherwise are not based in workplace reality. I think he feels sorry for Brent and is trying to be pleasant in allowing him to visit the Office, arguably more than he should. Maybe his patience will wear out?
Fordy7169
2025-07-30 13:53:34 +0000 UTCMike and Jess, don't know if you misunderstood or not but Dawn And Lee are just coming back for a short time to see relatives and go to Xmas Party then they are due to go back to Florida. All paid for by the BBC producers.

2025-07-30 13:45:21 +0000 UTCI was just coming to say the same thing. I think ultimately Brent is a lonely guy, with few, or possibly, no friends and that is partly why he acts how he acts. He just wants to be loved. Great writing.

2025-07-30 07:31:20 +0000 UTCGlad you enjoyed the cringe fest! Fun fact: the guy who was the third contestant at the Love Lottery competition, Howard Brown, was an actual โcelebrity,โ having appeared in a number of UK bank adverts around the time this episode was filmed - hence the line Brent said to him, โIf I want advice off you mate, itโll be about mortgages.โ I think itโs fair to say that the high hopes you have for part 2, Mike, will not disappoint Jess or yourself.
