The Inbetweeners Movie 2

https://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-inbetweeners-2

Comments

Yeah the 2nd movie was a bit disappointing but on the flip side there were quite a few funny bits and that ending totally redeemed it. Agree with Mike the Aussie Uncle made the movie!

Nathan Davey

Series is definitely 10/10. Movies just dont hit it. They could of done better stories and made them alot better! Would be good for a all grown up movie to be made in a couple years, maybe with kids, wives and one crazy meet up after years of maturing etc .. would be nice to finish it off with something like that!

Chlo x

Gotta do Friday night dinner now surely

Katharine Highfield

The re-union show isn't worth watching, james buckley himself hated it. A better thing to watch is the lads doing a comic relief special that was good fun, on YouTube: The Inbetweeners on Comic Relief 2011 - Part 1 [HD]

Chorlton Outlaw

This was just a normal film I dunno what you were expecting. The death scene was a send off it was meant to make you feel sad. You were judging the film too much so you aren’t looking at it through the actual lense. People getting lost in the outback isn’t dumb idea. They were unprepared and stupid but it’s not outlandish

Matthew

Got to react to Friday night dinner!

Jack Mcguigan

Please watch Plebs! It has the same vibe. I promise you wont regret it!

Generic George

Giles is Carli's real dad

steven craske

I’ve seen this film a few times but This is the first time I’ve ever noticed but the song Ben plays during the scene where katy tells will he has an anger song is the same that will played while singing to katy previously😅 Roberta Flack - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

Jack Callister

There was a idea floated about a 3rd movie set in Vegas and it would be centered around a Stag Do (Bucks), nothing ever came from this and the actors i think are done with it. But Simon getting back with and marrying Tara would be cool as everyone knows they are married. But if I had to bet nothing will happen

Rob Pontin

It’s nowhere near the inbetweeners

Jay Baeten

Smiffy

The ending is perfect, the shows and movie perfectly demonstrated a lot of teenage boys lives in the U.K., confusion, love, highs, lows, from 15-19 we see their lives, going into adulthood.. will always be a mystery

Sean Burton

Agree with Mike that Katy is annoying and too much. I'd go as far to say that she is one of the most irritating characters in anything I've ever watched. I can barely focus when she's on screen. No offence to the actress, of course.

Simon Charlie

lmaoooooooooo the pedo bit was so bad

Don don

Some people seem to be obsessed with trying to belittle them for being Americans. I don't think it is particularly exclusive to Americans to be disappointed with inconsistent or lazy writing. It's not like Mike didn't laugh at the funny moments, he just pointed out some of the flaws. Up to this film, it seemed that they had taken great care to avoid clichés and being overly sentimental, as well as keeping their character traits consistent, but a lot of that seemed to go out of the window with this film.

ElvisLee

I found this movie hilarious, but the writing felt lazy at times. In the first film, the story carefully crafted Lucy as a lovable character, making us root for Simon to see through Carly and choose Lucy. However, in the sequel, Lucy undergoes a drastic personality shift, revealing herself to be far worse than Carly ever was. While it’s realistic that people can hide their true nature, this twist undermines the first film. Rewatching it, knowing Lucy’s true character, taints the emotional investment in her and Simon’s story, as you’re left aware she’s actually deeply flawed.

ElvisLee

It has it's moments here and there but overall it's pretty shite. Couldn't stand the uncle character myself. If he was a more prominent part of the movie I think I'd of turned it off. Just seemed like a terribly written character.

Chillin'withSpiders

Love you guys but Mike’s need for a happy, packaged ending is such an American trope. I get it, he is an American. It’s not his fault. Poor kid. But… Life is messy. The ending is messy. But that’s fine. Keep up the good work, both of you.

Paul Godwin

I’m completely with Mike lol I always had issues with this movie myself.

Kayleigh

Just finished your reactions and gutted we’ve got to the end. I do prefer the first movie but there was such a calling for the 2nd and they had to make it different to the first. Would love a third, hangover style, where one gets married or grown ups style where they have kids

John Warren

course there was Jay

c

People were shitting in waterslides for a while after this film came out. There was a whole news story about the "logging epidemic" lmao.

Petrichor

Friday Night Dinner is a must now you’ve done this

Sam Green

pretty sure Mr Gilbert did the absolute maximum and went to the extreme in both movies

Demceez

His critiques couldn't be more valid. I'd go as far to say this movie in general is just shit tbh. I generally tend to pretend the 2nd movie doesn't exist

Adam Moore

For you, school was something that just happened to other people, wasn't it?

Steve Moppett

:D

ColdStarr

Thanks for the story Jay.

SpayMe

You need to watch Fresh Meat

J

I was glad they never brought back the minor characters from the first movie. The show was always about the 4 boys. It would be weird if they had girlfriends. I was always pissed that Donovan and mr Gilbert never really got to do anything in the movies, though.

Haverford West

You can definitely meet someone you know on the other side of the world! I was in Australia, and I spent a day in Freemantle. I was wandering round and neeeded to take a leak, but couldn't find a toilet, so I took a sneaky piss against this low wall overlooking the harbour, then the neext day, I saw a friend had posted a pic on Facebook from the exact spot I was standing, about 30 minutes later. I messaged him and just said "Dude...you were just standing in my piss". It took forever to convince him it wasn't a wind-up. Then we met the next day and had a beer on a park bench and both got a $200 fine for drinking in public. Neither of us knew the other was in Australia. But he was working there so he actually paid the fine.

Haverford West

Friday night dinner would be the perfect follow up to Inbetweeners

Reece Chadwick

mike has it correct. although the film was funny. it felt like filler episode that they got the intern too write. it was lets put the 4 boys here so we can do this joke and move them on to this place so we can do this joke. the plot was a vehicle to set up jokes. where as the show and 1st film was a plot that they where able to set jokes up in.

steven bell

You need several more jobs.

Static CentreHalf

watch friday night dinner

Naetep

Unless you have actually travelled, and I mean PROPERLY travelled, then you dont have a valid opinion. almost everything that happens in this movie, does actually happen . IN fact the guy who actually wrote his school diaries and trusted them to Blake Harrisons Aunt (Neil) , who was a school friend and worked for CHannel 4 in the UK, then passed them to her partner who is one of the guys who then stole his idea and wrote the show, is the real Will. I know this because he gave us all a copy before he passed away. I literally do have all the dairies that these shows came from

Julian Wilcox

Mike watching inbetweeners 2 thinking he's watching a BBC science documentary 😂

Neil

Mike; please ignore the idiotic comments calling you "miserable" for making completely valid critiques of the movie. That's what I want from a reaction channel; genuine, thoughtful critiques, not just unthinking, sycophantic praise. It's awful that anyone would want you to not state your actual opinions and just echo their own. Pathetic wankers.

Right Said Brett

I think that there are greater highs in the second movie, but the first movie is easily the more consistent of the two.

Right Said Brett

If you want more Inbetweeners, then check out The inbetweeners rude road trip for comic relief (it’s in 2 parts)

Col

AMAZING. I thought it was brilliant. Everyone was saying its crap so my expectations were very low. I honestly laughed more than the first movie. Wish there was more. Great reaction, EXTRAS next.

Gerard McCartan

James West

All I can hear Gilbert saying is "I'm sorry, McKenzie. Did I just hear you say your mum is dating? Because she is very much my type" 🤣

Tro Janors

Apart from rapists.

Static CentreHalf

The pilot was truly horrible (not seen subsequent ones) but it would be morbidly fascinating to what M&J react to it.

Static CentreHalf

...and breathe.

Static CentreHalf

Strong analysis.

Static CentreHalf

I thought Mike's contrary-ness made it all the more fun.

Static CentreHalf

Even allowing for that ChatGPT wrote this, you still have too much time on your hands.

Static CentreHalf

No they needn't. It's awful.

Static CentreHalf

It’s a love and hate one you love bits and hate bits

Mark Parker

I'll leave a like, but you couldn't pay me to watch this garbage again :P

Ryona95

we needed more of aussie uncle

mark

I honestly wanted one of the boys to get better at life

Bobby Nicholson

The deleted scenes from the movie have a conversation on the plane to Oz that gives an update on what happened with the other girls they met on holiday. EDIT If you need more, there's The Inbetweeners Archive channel with some behind the scenes videos.

Len's Flares

What are you trying to explain here? You just explained a scene when we all saw it. It's all fairly obvious and implied.

Karlos

Granted, it is sad that your Inbetweeners journey is over. But know that you have given so much joy and laughter with your reactions to this show that it will never end. I am sure I'm not alone when I say that these are re-watched on numerous occasions. Sometimes just for a bit of fun and on others because they are a huge pick-me-up when one is feeling down. It's a shame because you probably won't ever truly realise the pleasure you have brought. So thank you. Edit:- I wrote the above before watching. Fantastic - the film was so much better than I remember and your reactions were a hoot. Mike - thoroughly conflicted. Jess - uproarious laughter like I've never heard before! Thanks again.

Static CentreHalf

I don't like it as much as the first, but you did seem a little off to your usual self. Like you had something getting you down already. Anyway, not the end of the world, we all have them days.

Gsmith

I guess that goes for the millions who have stated they didn't like the movie going back 10yrs now? The verdict is out on this one. I still enjoyed it even with the subpar writing to the rest, but that's about it. No, I did not go into this wanting to hate it. The opposite actually. I also don't do fake reactions.

RegenerationNationTV

The stop where they picked up will was a small town with airstrip and had a bar with people drinking outside, i think it's implied they stopped for food, a beer and a dump. It makes sense they set off in the early morning after camping in the car and not getting much sleep so probably a morning chill and put the heater on, which would also make them run out of fuel quicker. They ran out of fuel some miles short of the town Jay's ex (the girls names aren't important, they're props)was working in, in her area of horses. They fell asleep in the midday sun because they were knackered from camping in car(hadn't really slept well since England), a bit sleepy from a beer and double-hot. Seems straightforward.

emu cat

Jesus someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed, why is he so mad? 'I get that' do you? It's like you already decided you were going to go in on it right from the beginning and just wanted to be miserable

Michael

You’d like “Drifters” - some of the female cast are in it ☺️

Peaches

What a rubbish film, such a waste.

Jason

I'm quite sure Patreon don't take the lions' share... they're making plenty from this, don't you worry

Jason

bobbyshaftowenttosea

They missed a trick, there. It should have been "Bush wankers!"

Captain Cardboard

Please watch I'm Alan Partridge

Aaron Joyce

There is a Inbetweeners reunion , but it feels off, I wouldn't watch it imo

Dan Anderson

<3

Blink More

Thanks so much for this guys, this reaction was incredible

Max Morley

The uncle was watching summer heights high before Simon Skyped Lucy !!!!

Luke Grice

This is lad culture times. We went on vacation with the boys to get laid and party. You might meet a girl that you see when you get home but it wouldn't last.

Scott Whitworth

You need to do Benidorm as your next UK show!

Jordan Candlish

You guys should react to Kevin and Perry Go Large 🤣 and Mikes reaction to Will being hit in the face with shit his immediate anger cracked me up 🤣🤣

Nichole Hutchison

I agree they really went off with this one. Some really funny bits but felt so disconnected.

Michael t

Only got round to watching, have enjoyed this journey and am beyond saddened it's come to an end, but all good things must unfortunately. Who's up for a third movie down the line?

Kyle Kirk

I don’t mind the little update on the girls that we got, I’m not watching this movie for them

Nichole Hutchison

It's the best ending. Where their lives go is setup post-credits and it's up to your own mind how it would go. If you want to get an idea how Phil and Will would go, watch Cuckoo. ;) And don't bother with the "reunion special". It's just them talking about making the show and even James Buckley has talked openly that it wasn't remotely what he wanted it to be. There are videos floating around that the boys filmed behind the scenes themselves. That's more worth a watch.

Kenneth Swan

I mean his criticisms are not very logical. He laughed out loud for 75% of the film and then called it a nothing burger lol

Richiep

Mike is highlighting exactly the difference between U.S and U.K comedy. Americans like the happy ending and winning closure. The British prefer self-deprecating failure.

Tass

Loved the movie but hated the outback scene, it was forced and didn’t belong. I think in this movie you could clearly see the loss of the usual director and instead having the writers directing things. Plenty of funny moments but a few scenes could happily have been cut.

Richard

Just finished the reaction, imagine laughing out loud for 75% of a movie and then calling it a nothing burger. What was wrong with Mike today lol. Glad Jess enjoyed it :)

Richiep

Mike they probably didn’t see each other that much after the movie, that’s why they were all crying cause it was like a goodbye. Simon changed uni to be with Lucy, Will probably drifted away from his gf

Nichole Hutchison

Yes it is

Dan-C

That moment at 23:30 with the uni lass makes me cringe and laugh so much. The whole monologue is so spot on for that stereotype 🤣

Nichole Hutchison

I think it's widely accepted among Inbetweeners fans that while the second film isn't outright "bad", it's not as good as the first and feels very different to the series. You can still see the odd moments that feel like the series but overall, it's much more of a "proper" film. I've no evidence for it, but i always suspected they were pushed to try and appeal to a wider audience than just those of us who watched the series, or maybe it was just a case that they got given a much bigger budget after the first film and felt obligated to spend it?

Mark Crook

Thanks for the ride both, it's been awersome. I'm not disembarking, please can you react to British films, Shaun of the dead, hot fuzz, films like that! Your success will continue if you go down that route, they're british classics. I'm in the lesser camp, I do prefer the second film over the first, it's funnier imo. I think people prefer the first because they can relate to it more. They're both good films

Jack Veazey

Title: The Inbetweeners 3: The Reunion Trip Setting: The lads, now in their late 20s, reunite for a “lads’ holiday” — but this time it's not about pulling birds or getting drunk (well, not entirely). Neil is getting married and invites the group on a stag do abroad. But nothing goes as planned. ACT 1: "Back in the Shit" Time Jump: 5–6 years after the second movie. Where They Are Now: Will – Working a corporate finance job in London, engaged to someone posh who hates his friends. Feels superior but secretly miserable and boring. Simon – Now in a long-term relationship with Lucy (yes, her), but it's a toxic on-again, off-again thing. Has a low-tier marketing job. Jay – Claims he's a “DJ/crypto influencer” in Ibiza, but is really working as a bar-back and struggling with adult life. Neil – The only one who’s kind of happy. Working as a personal trainer, dating a lovely (but very quirky) woman named Amber. They’re getting married. Setup: Neil invites the lads to his destination stag do in Eastern Europe (e.g. Kraków or Budapest — somewhere cheap, beautiful, and ripe for disaster). Will sees this as beneath him, Simon just wants a break from Lucy, and Jay wants to prove he’s “made it”. ACT 2: "The Stag Do from Hell" Key Events: Mishaps galore: Getting scammed by an Airbnb host, lost luggage, Will losing his phone and trying to "rough it", Simon accidentally breaking up with Lucy (or thinks he has). Jay’s lies are exposed: He’s not a big deal in Ibiza at all. He’s sleeping in a backroom and barely scraping by. Will tries to “grow up” the trip with cultural excursions. This backfires spectacularly (e.g. he causes a diplomatic incident at a war museum). Neil gets cold feet after an awkward night out where he thinks he might have cheated (he didn’t — but thinks he did). Major Themes: Facing adulthood vs clinging to youth. Masculinity and emotional immaturity. The bittersweet realisation that your best mates might be growing apart — and that’s okay. ACT 3: "Falling Apart and Coming Together" Climax: After a series of spectacular failures (e.g. getting arrested, losing Neil, and being dumped en masse), the lads are forced to confront their insecurities. Will admits he’s miserable and scared of being boring. Jay breaks down over feeling like a failure. Simon realises he’s let Lucy define too much of his identity. Neil says he doesn’t want to end up like any of them, but loves them anyway. Resolution: Neil does get married, with the lads making a chaotic but heartfelt effort to make the day work despite a ruined plan. Jay gets offered a proper job working at the wedding venue’s bar and decides to stick around. Will dumps his fiancée after realising she looks down on his life. Simon finally cuts ties with Lucy. Final Scene: The lads sit on a hill with beers, overlooking the city. They accept that this might be the last “big one” together — but they’re okay with it. Then Will ruins the moment by saying something pompous and gets pushed down the hill. Tone & Style: Humour rooted in awkward realism, sex and social embarrassment. Witty narration by Will, full of pompous analogies. Loads of callbacks to old running jokes (e.g. Jay’s bullshit, Will’s mum, brief return of Mr Gilbert maybe). Ending strikes a bittersweet but warm note, allowing the series to bow out naturally. WHAT YA THINK?

Jamie Derry

If they do a 3rd, I hope Jay's uncle is visiting.

emu cat

Got to agree. Neither of the films needed to have been made. They should've called it a day at the end of the third series... That being said, re. Mike, i wouldn't bother trying to over analyse a film like this, it's not worth it.

Paul08031977

I think you should do a rewatch on here with the boys be great to revisit this again, one of the greatest. Love the aussie humour

Central Hub

I think they would've been better off skipping this one and waited to do a reunion movie kind of like american pie. I doubt it would work now and I don't think the actors would want to after this one. I'm sure I've heard James Buckley mention this movie in his podcast saying he wasn't a fan but I may be mis remembering.

SomeBSName

Well that was exhausting lol. Never seen someone so bipolar, 1 second he’s laughing out loud, the next looking like he’s sucking on a lemon and whinging about the most minor thing. THe films still great, it’s obviously a little more Hollywood but still plenty of laughs. Hating it just because it doesn’t immediately follow on from the holiday in movie 1 is a strange criticism. The girl Will hooks up with is a fairly common personality type in places like Byron bay, will likes her because he likes the idea of being a ‘backpacker’, that’s why he sucks up to them in the beginning. Some really perplexing critiques Mike ngl, maybe you just woke up on the wrong side of bed lol.

Richiep

Mike... Don't worry. It would have been weird if you came across as if you absolutely loved the film to be honest and if you found nothing at fault. It was a bad movie. Still love the Inbetweeners, but this was a bad film in comparison. At least your reactions are honest and genuine and you're not just playing up to the audience. I enjoyed bits of it, but not a patch on the first film or the series. Love your stuff Mike and Jess. Keep it up!

Thomas Birch

I am in camp Jess. Enjoyed your reactions 👍

Ominous

I agree. A film like this really doesn't need analysis! I think Jess understands that. Accept it for what it is

Paul08031977

The second film wasn’t as great.. but still good! Mike, it would be nice to have some tidy happy endings… but they have only just done a gap year, none of their relationships really matter. Id recommend Fresh Meat and Friday Night Dinner…and then pretend they are alternate universe sequels.

Joseph Yates

its not jay in the bed

fdfd

I'm pretty much on the same page as you regarding the second film. To be honest, I think they should've just left it at the end of the third series and called it a day.

Paul08031977

I love it too, I wonder if some of the humour was lost because the Katie and Ben characters weren’t entirely understood

Lauren Massey

Don't react to the reunion show with Jimmy Carr, it was absolute crap.

Paul08031977

Think they forgot Will was the "adrenaline junky" when the went thorpe park in the series. No clue why they made him pass out on the worlds smallest zip line.

SomeBSName

This movie was a bit hit and miss, still funny though

michael thompson

Wasn't she the one whos derriere Mike admired that time. ( Or touched). Thinking it was Jess. Delete if Jess and her twin was just something I'd dreamt once.

bobbyshaftowenttosea

It feels like the writers didn't want to do anymore but knew they'd constantly be hassled for more so decided to make this.

SomeBSName

I agree with Mike about everything and was good seeing him pop off and not be fake

zStarr

She’s so good at playing a toff though same as Freddie Stroma

Lauren Massey

Jess has got a twin sister ohhhhhh shit. is she single ? Lmao

Jake Hines

I know not the right way but....love to see you do Outnumbered....This, an awful end to a great series...

Karl Devereux

I wish you guys got to see the trailer for the second film. A load of aborigines changing round a fire, car approaches in the distance, intense music, as the car is finally passing them Jay hangs out the window and shouts “fire wankers” 😂

DG

I wish they made a 3rd movie they could do it were Simon is getting married and they go on a stag do holiday kinda like hangover go to vegas or amsterdam would be good

Craig Burns

I hated this movie first time around... Was so excited for it. But on a second time round there's more funny parts than I remembered. I think people just like to annoy Mike...😂

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

I think regarding the lack of continuity Mike talks about early on because a lot of the time you'll meet somebody on your holiday, promise to stay in touch then you kind of drift apart, or just never meet up.... Unless you're Simon, then you're doomed :D

Karlos

Don't forget there are deleted scene clips from both movies, bloopers and Jimmy Carr hosted a reunion show

Nathan Daly

The backpacking destinations in Aus are full of 20 year old Brits from wealthy families in the home counties. As a former private school kid, the chances of running into someone you know are actually pretty high!

Mat

The outtakes and bloopers for both films are pretty funny if you can find them and need another fix.

Karlos

Or like Karl teaching English. “Wear”… “where’ve ya been?!” 🤣

Emma Edwards

You have to be honest as a reactor or whats the point! Why be like some other reactors and just sit like a mute and lie pretending you like everything! Its about being honest on your opinions on things! Thats what i like about your reactionx yous both say how it is. Dont let these comments get yous down there only a small minority who have a go!

Theloyalmuppet

The second movie has enjoyable moments, but feels completely different to the series and the first movie. You can enjoy watching it but also be critical of the writing at the same time. I think Mike is spot on with his analysis!

Robert Scaife

Katie reminds me of my friend who always tells me about everything she’s been doing and all the countries she’s been to in the past 2 months , then asks me what I’ve been doing knowing full well I’ve been working , going home & parenting my kids and watching tv 🤣. Then when I say I’m going to Greece she says you always go to Greece you should go somewhere else 🥴🤣. newsflash people like different things 🤣. Oh and yeah she went to a private school

Erica

Remember the episode where mr.Gilbert once said, maybe you could set me up with her (wills mum) and who knows maybe one day you could end up calling me daddy 😆😆

Mark Rudd

Nitpicks and small criticisms are just too much for some fanboys. Hope Mike still keeps this energy. lol

Barok

There are great moments in this movie. But as a whole, I agree with Mike, it does fall short a little. And Emily Berrington's (Katie) vocal fry irritates the shit outta me. I still say "awobabobob" to the wife on long drives when it gets quiet.

Paul

Feel better.

Chicken Nugget

Have you seen the US remake? I thought it was just a pilot but now I see it's 12 episodes. Just reacting to the pilot could be interesting.

SM

Mike, when you said you get highs with the Inbetweeners, then it drops a little, then back up to high again......... Well that's exactly how we felt watching this reaction. The highs were when we were watching Jess the whole way through, and also watching you struggle to breathe because you were laughing so hard at multiple times throughout the film ...... Then we had the lows, where you over-analysed and nit picked so many scenes that it sometimes felt like you were just looking for a reason to hate it. But, like you, the highs made up for the lows and we can still say we thoroughly enjoyed the reaction overall ;)

Jules & Kev Morrissey

I’m surprised they haven’t done a stag do & wedding movie yet to complete the ‘trilogy’. Seems like such an obvious thing to do.

svnbather

Oh and the cast have expressed interest in a 3rd movie 🎥 nothing confirmed tho

Daniel Kerr

Neil is brain-dead in this. He was pretty stupid in the series, got a little ridiculous as it went on but at least he was a real person. In this it's like the American series Neil, utterly brain-dead and unbelievable as a character. All of them are unbelievable as characters in this really, maybe why it's so shit.

SomeBSName

That wasn't it at all. I just simply didn't find the writing to be on par with the previous stuff. You are reading into it too much. If there weren't so many bad reviews going back 10yrs then maybe, but enough people felt the same way about the film on their first watch that it's not unbelievable that I would find those same faults. That's all it was. I enjoyed it while also having issues. Nothing more to it than that

RegenerationNationTV

Peep show next 😉👌

Daniel Kerr

That was our biggest warning and concern that u might not like the second. Tried to say many times to just try enjoy it for what it is. Because yes it’s not as good as the series or the first movie but if you go into it with the expectation of it being worse than them then it may have been a bit more of a an enjoyable watch

RJ

I didnt know that!

Daz Parker

I like that you refer to him as Giles still 😂

Karlos

That's what is confusing me as well. If it were a new movie and the votes weren't in I'd understand a bit more. This movie has been out for a decade and most of the reviews say a lot of what I said. Some are acting like my takes are some how new.

RegenerationNationTV

The wildest thing about the last movie is that not only is Giles Will's dad, but that's when I found out Carly is actually his IRL daughter, and now I can't stop seeing her as Giles in a blonde wig - her face is identical

Stu T

Agree with this!!! Would love to see an American reaction to it. To compare how bad it really was. It was so bad that you want to watch it to hate on the rubbish characters

Mark Rudd

Hey Mike & Jess! Enjoyed the reaction from you 2 as always and I think it was fair of you to be critical - as we all are of things we enjoy/care for. I too had many gripes with this film originally but the more time passes the more I enjoy it. The first film has a better story, pacing and what could have been a fitting send off for the characters as they pursue their new relationships & adulthood etc. This 2nd one falls a bit short ending wise, but I do think the funny moments are among some of the best in the show so it's still a great watch. Don't ever worry about reacting a certain way because of how people will take it, at the end of a day your job is to react and not just hype everything up haha. Was a great journey and your reactions were some of my favourite on youtube (and patreon ofc)

Mahti

Can't believe Mike didn't think that the perfect way to say goodbye to friends was to piss on their face in the Australian outback 😂 I definitely agree with Mike's issues with the writing in this one, it's still a lot of fun, but yeah, nowhere near as good as the first movie.

Tim

Mike pretty much expressing what the majority of fans felt when they first watched this film, so I'm not sure why he's getting stick? Great reaction all round, and really fun going on the Inbetweeners journey with you.

Jay

I actually enjoy that you're honest enough to have not enjoyed it as much as you anticipated. I felt very much the same when I saw it, its a decent enough movie but was much poorer than the rest of the Inbetweeners stuff, wish the writers would have given themselves more time to plan and write but I suppose they were also against the clock for how long they can believably have the actors appear younger than they are

Daz Parker

Mike's suffering from 'GoT syndrome' lol. Glad Jess took it in a different way. Sure the TV series was better than the movies, and the first movie was better than the second, but its a comedy movie after all. If you want deep and meaningful arcs of characters or a storyline that makes you feel satisfied, maybe pick a different genre of movie. As Mike alluded to, every movie could have fulfilled someone else with a different ending. Can't please everyone, but great reaction guys ;)

Daz Parker

I met 1 too an American in my little town xx

Martin

Deary me getting a bit of stick mike but you’re entitled to have you’re own views on it mike! Stick to your guns mate😉

Theloyalmuppet

Nah, you're just reading into it a bit too much

RegenerationNationTV

Even Jess was over Mikes shitty attitude.

Table

😂

Jess

Bought the Patreon for 3 months because of your season 1 reactions, sad that it's over, wish you two all the best

ybriK

She did after we stopped recording 🥴

RegenerationNationTV

You guys say Americans apologize after making a joke too often. Now I get flak like this as well 🤔 I just can't win 🤷

RegenerationNationTV

The Inbetweeners was such an amazing show! Literally a classic, the ideal scenario for the films would of basically been a 90 minute episode version. The first film managaged that to a point but the second did feel more polished and Hollywood style which is why it probably didn't work aswell!

Matt Harwood

So glad to hear it friend! Thank for coming along with us for the ride! 💚

RegenerationNationTV

I actually enjoyed the outback bit. It was so ridiculous and surreal. From where the show started, to imagine they will eventually be stranded in the Australian outback, is so crazy you’d think it was a dream sequence. Although I prefer to think that Neil peeing on Simons face was a hallucination 😂

Julian

16:48 bit of a fucked-up comment Mike…

Sam Sargent

Jess so wanted to punch Mike at 43.40 with tye California quote 🤣

Nathan Daly

🤣

RegenerationNationTV

Couldn't agree more. Some of the funniest moments were in this movie

RegenerationNationTV

I laughed my ass off at this movie more than most episodes. I stated my issues and the things I enjoyed. I think people are reading a bit too much into me having an opinion

RegenerationNationTV

I really didn't 😂 I guess everyone else who had issues with it did the same? I still really liked the movie, but had issues with it.

RegenerationNationTV

Had this movie on my computer for two months but held out to get a first time reaction myself with M&J and it was well worth the wait =) I think the first movie felt more honest to the feel of the series, but this was a great send-off. Would have loved a few more great remarks from Greg Davies though, but will have to re-watch the series to re-laugh at his comedic gems!

Christopher Bergren

mike came into this reaction already hating, shame

John Davis

Are we erasing the David Brent movie from the record? (We should) 😂

Darrell Pringle

Apparently I’m the only one who thinks the 2nd movie is better 😅

Liquid Crystal

I get the film critic stuff. It was just a chance to spend time with the characters again, that’s how I look at it. They made it as ridiculous as possible, which is a fair enough tactic, they just didn’t nail it.

Julian

Yes I love The Festival!

Liquid Crystal

This is the first Patreon I've subbed to, absolutely loved watching this series

Dylan Heard

I know what u guys mean by it being shallow yet heartfelt at the same time, I think it's just portraying the very lighthearted relationships of some guy friends that use humour to not let things get too sentimental haha. It's still definitely wholesome how loyal they are as a group

Dylan Heard

Even better than the first, great that they 180'd on Lucy, went full big-screen with the intro and the Jay imaginationland was creative. It wouldn't be as good if it was just 3 episodes rolled into one. You have to suspend your belief a bit watching the Inbetweeners anyway surely. Mike seemed to have his heels dug in on it not being as good from the start, never trust the miserable comments eh. Hope they agree an Inbetweeners 3 and we're all around to watch it.

emu cat

Agreed. But there is a good segment when the Actors return to the school in the yellow car (with red door)

Dave Henshall

I agree but the films were a massive drops of from the series

Michael McMahon

Strangely I think the second was has a lot more LOL moments but the film as a whole is definitely worse then the first

Michael McMahon

Who cares if the writing is a bit off, it’s just meant to be a good watch and laugh, all for the bantz really, not meant to be citizen Kane or anything lol

Thomas Simcox

This is a better film than I remember it being. I disagree with Mike about overproduction as it was a step up to Cinema as opposed to TV. The Jay fantasy sequence was beautifully edited. Also the film had a heart, the central point being friendship and I did get a little choked when they were in the outback. Thanks Chaps

Dave Henshall

I don't see it mentioned, but apparently the song Will was meant to play at the campfire was James Blunt's You're Beautiful. And the actor Simon Bird spent quite some time learning to play it correctly, then when it came to filming they didn't get approval for the song rights, so this was the backup...

Andy

James B has said on his Podcast that they try to meet up at least once a year... He said that if they're sitting in a bar or restaurant together, people often do a double take. It was my first time watching this one, I heard so many bad reviews that I didn't bother - but it wasn't too bad!

Karina Bailey

That happened to my parents’ friends from Enfield , they bumped into some people who live in their street when they were in Sydney

Erica

You should watch the American Inbetweeners, now that you've finished this one. I guarantee that you will only watch one episode.

Bikeaholic

By the way the reunion special wasn’t good, the actor for Jay has his own youtube channel / podcast with his wife and talked on it. I watched it and it’s not a “reunion” like you think it would be. Jimmy carr hosts it and it isn’t his fault but the way it’s done is like he’s just talking to them on a stage but the jokes he does is like at their expense and taking the piss almost acting like they’re exactly like their characters. It’s just weird and it’s a bit of a mess. You think they’d show like behind the scenes and things but they don’t really. It’s just kind of mindless talking

Reece Bensted

Mike is such a buzzkill.

Table

Agree, some funny moments but over-produced...slightly spoiled what went before. To the contrary, The Office specials, ended the show perfectly.

Karl Devereux

Makes sense

RegenerationNationTV

My Sunday sorted. Thank you both for this content, your time and enthusiasm. Genuine reactions are worth so much more.

Charlie Walker Jr

I mean it's The Inbetweeners. It's a very daft show about crude humour and friendship. And the movies have both of these. No need to overthink it. :)

Jára Zimmerman

The Jay stuff at the beginning was deliberately over produced for a reason. It was pure fantasy because Jay never imagines that the other 3 will come to Australia.

Paul08031977

One thing that stands out to me on Mike's comments regarding the continuity. When these films were new, 3 years had passed between them. If you're watching them a week apart, it probably feels more like it should just be another episode. But at the time, I don't remember anyone thinking - where's Alison?

Andy

I think how Jess describes the journey of getting to know the people and letting go is why we love reaction channels so much. Yeah we have seen the episodes but we get the joy once again and is literally watching it from fresh eyes.

Gem Lou

You could do worse than watch The Festival as a follow-up, directed by one of the Inbetweeners writers and starring Joe Thomas (Simon). Wouldn't bother with the reunion special though, James Buckley described it as "a disaster".

Regular Viewer Bunty Hoven

I too love that famous song about a half animal half boy from Louisiana "creole maybe llama lad"

Ste Rawlings

Don't know if anyone has mentioned but do you know wills dad ( from buffy) is carlys dad in real life

Linf J

In fairness to Will bumping into Katie, they actually pretty realistically cover that off by saying “most kids from the Home Counties are on a gap year out in Australia”, which is in fact true.,. Byron Bay is in the top 2/3 destinations for uni-aged students to travel to or take a gap year to. Not saying all the writing is flawless, and this film isn’t without some issues, but it has some solid, solid laughs and moments and glad it exists as it’s another 90-odd minutes of The Inbetweeners

Callum Is Raving

Please!

RegenerationNationTV

I actually had a great day. It's strange, a lot of people seem to agree the second film isn't that great. It's not just me being grumpy 😂

RegenerationNationTV

surely everyone should carry a rape alarm

Daniel

Yes it’s a bit of a car crash isn’t it. Jay’s whole motivation just seems to dissipate as soon as he seems Jayne

Adam

The first one is definitely better, but it was worth waiting for your reaction to ‘shit face’ Will and Mr Gilbert’s reveal at the end 😂

Emma Edwards

I don’t think she really cared mate

Alfie Baker

Ive met people who i know in universal Orlando on multiple occasions. 4100 miles away lol

jamestoni

Movie 1 was definitely better, but 2 had it's funny moments

Jack

Mikey grump grumps 🤣

Martyn Dawson

Great reaction 👌🏼 totally agree with Mike, a lot of issues with this one but for me just enough laugh out loud moments to make it worthwhile

Adam Rooney

Had to go buy enough snacks for this and the F1 race. Might need to work out tomorrow.

Julian

I was in Melbourne and bumped in my neighbour from my tiny village back home in Hertfordshire. We didn’t know we’d both be there, I was travelling with work mates and he was playing rugby. And most people you see out there are Brits - so it’s very possible to bump into people you know on the other side of the world

Sam Dilks

Some great moments in this film, but ultimately i think it’s a below average end to a fantastic series. Excellent reactions all the way through

Mark

I have to say I was with Mike in that the second film to me was a real disappointment, that said it's one of those where once you watch it again and understand it's not as good as the series - it is still pretty good!

Matt Harwood

Yeah I don't get it. The movies are just a device for delivering more of the classic banter between the lads. It doesn't need to be The Shawshank Redemption or whatever Mike was expecting.

Jára Zimmerman

It seems like Mike was expecting an Oscar worthy film instead of the over the top goofiness everyone expects from The Inbetweeners. It’s been a fun journey though! I’ll miss the reactions

Freeman

Yeah I hated what they did to Lucy in this. Surprised the actress agreed to do it when she read the script.

Jeff C

Mike has grumpy face through the whole thing like he kept getting back draft off his own fart. Like he went in after a bad day and took it all way too seriously.

Johnny Magnifico

Neither of the films are particularly good, they just repeat jokes from the show. But they needed to appeal to a wider audience, people who’d never seen the show before.

Adam

Also - Mike you are a hundy right

SimonNZ

The Inbetweeners 2 is a shambles compared to the first movie. If I remember correctly with the second movie, the original directors had a falling out with a producer who helped work on the first movie, or it might have been someone who helped with the script writing I'm not 100% sure, but it seriously impacted the continuity and general tone from the first movie. It's a damn shame too because you can tell the second movie is too over-"Americanised" and/or too over-exaggerated. Watching the Inbetweeners with you guys has been great and fun to watch. At the very start I was worried that you both would be grossed out or wouldn't understand the humour but you have both listened and related to the shenanigans, which is awesome! I look forward to the whatever else is in the pipeline.

Kippa

The joke about double barrel surnames was about class. In the UK these people are usually quite posh/upper class. And Neil has obviously never met such a person. :)

Jára Zimmerman

'Movie critic Mike' 😂 quality 👌

Mark R

With Mike on this one

Austin GT

Oh my god I’m kinda disappointed about how excited I was to see this pop up on my phone on Sunday night here in NZ!! Not as good as the rest of it all but well good enough for me today

SimonNZ

The first Inbetweeners Movie made 20 times the budget at the box office, so they made another one, even though narratively I think it was the perfect send-off. Naturally, when something makes lots of money, studios can't just leave it alone and here we are. Sadly the previous director wasn't involved so I don't think it captured the same kind of vibe, but there are still some funny moments.

Jonoridge

oh god Mike really doesn't like this one haha...I was skeptical when I watched the 2nd movie for the 1st time but as a hardcore inbetweeners fan it really grew on me...I remember thinking basically the exact same things that Mike was saying such as "where's Will's girlfriend?"....it's certainly not the best movie and definitely wasn't the best continuation on from the 1st film but as I say with the inbetweeners only being 3 series long and 2 movies deep...it's kind of all we have to cherish now lol.

Niall Watson

oh boy, here we go...so sad though :( but, it's been a great run. thank you guys.

Niall Watson

32:02 you over thought that a little bit, when Simon says: “you don’t know her” he means you don’t know her like that, you can’t just dump her

FatSam25

Yay, you met one of us… out in the wild 🥳

Emma Edwards

The series is a classic. The first movie did the impossible, it was actually great! This one absolutely awful. Over produced, no authenticity. Characters and motivations a complete 180. 😬

Darrell Pringle

Ooooh let me go and get a brew and settle down for this one. *sinking feeling* Oh no it’s all over 😭 Can we start again from the beginning? Series 1 episode 1? 😝

Emma Edwards

Giles is Carly’s dad in real life

Mr Snrub

the Inbetweeners movie 2, shit it's Sunday already, f##k got to go to work in the morning, my god the next five days are going to destroy my soul, ah well, may as well laugh my tits off for the next two and a half hours, thanks Mike and Jess

buster

so nice to refresh the feed to see this! 👍✌️

TheHigh

Not sure who's more annoying, this smelly backpacker Katie or karlie, Katie is absolutely spot on stereotype of these fucking pretentious backpacking wankers. There's all the deleted scenes from the movies and TV series and the comparison of the USA and UK versions if you still want a hit. Awobabobbob. Mike thinking he's watching a Hollywood film with a happy ending!

Gary

I was JUST about to comment that myself!!

Justus

Yeahhhhh! I’m so poorly, I can’t wait to bed down and watch this later 💜

Lauren Massey

For me, they should have finished the show with the first movie; it was the perfect ending for them. That said, this one does have plenty of classic moments, so I'm going to enjoy this!

Captain Cardboard

Hell yes! I’ve been looking forward to this one all week! 😊

Liquid Crystal

End of an era but I believe Derry Girls will have a great impact for you both also

Gareth Hood

What a way to start a Sunday 🥳

Cain Culley

The ending has come 😥

Josh Read

Yessss

michael patch

Cant wait to watch!!
