I saw her at Glastonbury in 1995 and she was wearing a T-shirt that said, "IF YOU THINK I'M A BITCH YOU SHOULD MEET MY MOTHER".

Keith Pratt

She was a abused child which she never recovered from. :(

Chris Kay

I’ve always loved this song ❤️

Paul Cole

Raw and real - most definitely.

Karina Bailey

She made this song her own. She was stunningly beautiful 👌❤️

The interesting thing about this was that it was actually written about Prince's live in housekeeper for many years. He never had to do a thing , all he had to do was wake up and dress in the clothes she had already laid out for him, go into his music room and work. Everything was done for him. Her father then became ill and she had to leave and go look after him and he was totally lost. He'd never even used an oven oir washing machine. The song was of course marketed as a break up song because that sells but the truth was that it was Prince saying he was totally lost without his housekeeper. It makes sense of the line "All the flowers that you planted mother ...." This line reminded Sinead of her own mum who had recently passed away, after years of acrimony between them Sinead had made peace with her mum only to lose her. In the video Sinead ends up crying which wasn't planned it was just her remembering her mum

Not for everyone. By that, I mean I watched the Sirius live version, and it was shockingly poor in comparison to Sinead's live performance in Chile, IMO, it reminded me of a X-factor audition. But I haven't heard his studio version, maybe its better?

Literally paused to type this after Mike empathising, to unpause and hear Jess confirm they know it was written by Prince, d'oh! I'll keep my mouth, well, my fingers quiet till the end of the vid in future!

Completely get where you're coming from - her passion in this song is very moving. However, it was originally written by Prince and was from a males perspective. As someone said above, well worth anyone checking out Chris Cornells version (I have his live version on the playlist so it may come up at some point anyhow!)

Daz Parker

Yes, the United States.

Jay

Poignant day to be posting this.

Is there any region of the world that produces singers and groups as well as the UK and Ireland?, NO THERE ISN'T, I'll die on that hill

buster

You have to listen to Chris Cornell’s cover of this Prince classic. I would say it’s even more emotional

Aaron Page

Beautiful song and beautiful woman x

Haven’t watched the reaction yet, but you’re in for a treat. Stunning live performance. We miss you Sinead, sorry we heard but didn’t listen. 💔
