You might like Drifters, Jessica Knappet (Lisa), Lydia Rose Bewley (Jane) and Lauren O'Rourke (Nicole) are the 3 main characters (Jess Knappet created it too, and her and Lauren also wrote for it) and it's got similar vibes to The Inbetweeners

Someone that size grabbing your throat and saying they'll put a glass through your neck is fucked up, and not something you just laugh off like you would see in many tv shows or movies, no, it is going to scare the fucking shit out of you, and IRL your friend is gonna hopefully have your back right after just the way neil did there, that's what friends are for, proper manly friends, not egging you on for the fight or fucking your life up like that, but being there to support you through a fucked up situation. Those are the friends you want in life IMO

First one was driving around France, Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland in a purple Ford Escort which we pranged. We pitched our large family tent in campsites. Neither the dented car or leaky tent provided us much with success with the ladies. Second one was Inter-Rail, a rite of passage for many English kids. Kipping on overnight trains and crossing borders all over Europe, staying in hostel and meeting girls from every country imaginable this side of the Iron Curtain. Sweet.

The original omits the scene with Mr Gilbert drinking, so the end scene when you see him riding on the bike made for a brilliant last minute reveal. Also the pissing on the floor scene was just odd and out of place.

They were known for reserving sun loungers early with towels and coming back later. As a side note, GenX will remember that tensions were still high between us, even up till the 1980s. Resorts had hotels for Germans and others for Brits. God help any travel agent who put you in the 'wrong' hotel. There were bars and restaurants with German or British flags outside and we generally stuck to our own. That's why Jay felt justified in doing what he did with the towels. Of course he was wrong.

Whereas the guy in this is just a classic movie villain and does explicitly shitty things so no one’s in any doubt. And Neil isn’t that bad, people just don’t normally like him all that much as you do Mike 😄

2025-07-20 13:04:24 +0000 UTCAll of the Inbetweeners is written by Iain and Damon who created it, like most British comedies it’s always just 1 or 2 people writing everything generally - same with some dramas too. As we don’t have the studio system producing shows and writers having more ownership of their writing (they stop when they want) there’s no writers rooms generally (panel shows and things like that are where you get them). You’ll occasionally get some shows that are 3-4 people but more than that is rare. The main one was the initial talk with the girls in the club. It was definitely too long and I’m glad it was cut down. Obviously the Gilbert scene which was removed too and I’m glad it was removed. It works in the uncut version though.
