Yeah that's gonna be a sad moment for Axel, realizing he's gonna outlive the people he loves. The whole Nolan "In 500 years what will you have?" and all that. Of course I bet you anything that this Sansa will set him straight and go "You'll have your children." As for people freaking out, as long as Axel is a good king and maintains the perception of being EXTREMELY blessed by the Seven as an instrument of their will... Well, I think the common man at least will feel better having an eternal protector. And just because Axel will live for centuries doesn't mean he'll stay king, as he might give the job to one of his kids he deems worthy. Maybe even set up a rotation once it becomes apparent his kids are immortal too: "Okay, it's been thirty years Jon. Time to step down and let Rickard have a turn ruling, while you go have fun in Essos punching Dothraki and slavers." "YAY! Have fun Rick, I'm outta here!" "Lucky bastard..."

2025-07-22 12:41:56 +0000 UTCAs far as I know, Old Gods worship has very few rules, more guidelines if anything. I bet you anything that if someone has the strength and ability to have multiple wives, the Old Gods are giving it the thumbs up.

Certainly be handy if both the Doctrine of Exceptionalism and the Old Gods' justification for multiple wives could be used in conjunction to allow for Axel to marry Sansa and Arianne in the near future and others like Dany & Asha after that.
