2025-04-07 10:38:29 +0000 UTCSo cool to see Ren on here. I had over 60 thousand minutes on Spotify in 2024 and 4 of my top 5 artists were varying degrees of deathcore and metalcore bands.... yet Ren was my number 1 artist. Something about him just captivates my soul. Some of his music is very much life saving to me.

2025-02-27 00:12:23 +0000 UTCI'm a bit late to the party on this one, but Dan Bull might be of interest, he's another independent British artist who's written and performed a number of songs on mental health and autism. He's also done a lot of gaming-related stuff, but I personally prefer (and relate far more to) his songs about... well, this stuff. The internal struggle, the confusion, the watching the rest of the world live when it doesn't seem like you can.

2025-02-17 23:45:32 +0000 UTCThat’s so true. Sometimes something just isn’t meant for you in that moment, but when the timing is right, it hits in a completely different way. I really appreciate you sharing that. Hi Ren was already so heavy for me right now, so I can only imagine how deeply Chalk Outlines must resonate with you. Music has a way of putting feelings into words in a way that nothing else can. Sending you love, and thank you for being here and sharing your perspective. It means a lot friend!

2025-02-17 23:42:58 +0000 UTCThank you for sharing that, Yvonne. That’s absolutely heartbreaking. Losing someone that way leaves so many unanswered questions, and I can only imagine how deeply that must have affected Ren. I really appreciate you mentioning those songs. Right now, it might be a little too soon, but I love the idea of spreading awareness when the time feels right. Music has such a powerful way of opening up these conversations, and it’s something we all need to talk about more. Thank you again for this. It really means a lot.

2025-02-17 23:41:35 +0000 UTCAndy, thank you for sharing this. That kind of openness takes real strength, and I have no doubt that someone reading this will find comfort in your words. You’ve been through so much, and I’m so incredibly glad you’re still here. It really is so hard for people to understand that mindset unless they’ve been in it, which is why talking about it openly is so important. I’m so sorry for the friends you’ve lost, and I can only imagine how much those experiences shaped your perspective. It’s heartbreaking how many people are struggling in silence, even those who seem to have it all together. Hearing that counseling and even something as seemingly small as addressing health issues helped you find your way forward is so encouraging. You never know what might be the thing that shifts things for someone. And you’re absolutely right. Talking, whether to a friend, family member, or even just someone willing to listen, can be life-changing. I really appreciate you opening up about this. You never know who needed to hear it today. Much love to you friend. 💜

2025-02-17 23:40:26 +0000 UTCYou said it perfectly friend. Hearing this song this time around hit harder but had more meaning and connection to us. Thank you for sharing your experience with a Ren song as well!

2025-02-17 23:39:12 +0000 UTCThank you, Angie. That really means a lot. It’s been a tough time, but knowing he’s no longer suffering is something we’re holding onto. We’re doing our best to stay strong, and having a community like this makes all the difference. We appreciate you so much. 💜😘

2025-02-17 23:38:51 +0000 UTCMark, thank you for sharing this. That kind of honesty and perspective means so much, and I have no doubt that someone reading this will find comfort in your words. I’m so glad you found the support you needed and that you’re still here. It takes incredible strength to push through that kind of pain, and I truly admire you for it. I’ve heard of EMDR but didn’t know much about it. If it helped you find your way forward, I really hope it can help others too. And knowing that our relationship brings even a little bit of light to your day means more than I can say friend. Sending you so much love and appreciation. Thank you for being here.

2025-02-17 23:36:34 +0000 UTCThis means so much. Knowing we have a community that truly cares and understands makes such a difference during a time like this. I know so many people have been through similar losses, and that shared understanding is both heartbreaking and comforting at the same time. Doing this reaction was tough, but Hi Ren felt like the right song at the right moment. I’m really glad it resonated with you too. Thank you for your kindness, your support, and for being part of this community with us. Much love to you as well.

2025-02-17 23:35:53 +0000 UTCThank you so much. We really did think about holding off, but in the end, this felt like the right thing to do. Sometimes, processing emotions through something meaningful helps, and Hi Ren hit so close to home that it felt like it needed to be shared. We truly appreciate the love and support. It means more than we can say. 💜

2025-02-17 23:35:03 +0000 UTCThank you so much for this. It truly means the world right now. This weekend has been incredibly hard, but seeing messages like yours reminds me why it’s important to share these experiences, even when they’re painful. That Bob Ross quote really hits home. Right now, it feels like we’re in the dark, but I know the light will come again. If sharing our grief helps even one person feel less alone or more able to talk about what they’re going through, then it’s worth it. Much love back to you from both of us. We appreciate you more than we can say. 💜

2025-02-15 23:47:48 +0000 UTCI hope you both know that this type of content, the sharing of real life experiences (the good and the bad) really helps others. It brings a humam touch to such a clinical medium (Internet etc). Growing up, I used to watch a painter called Bob Ross (twitch streams his painting programs all the time) and he used to say something that resonates with me. “Gotta have opposites, light and dark and dark and light, in painting. It’s like in life. Gotta have a little sadness once in awhile so you know when the good times come. I'm waiting on the good times now.” I know it is of no consequence right now - especially with the weekend you are both having but I hope you know that by sharing your experience that you are shining your light onto others and hopefully making it easier for people to speak about what is impacting them. Keep at it. Much love from Scotland.

2025-02-15 22:54:49 +0000 UTCRen is from a tiny village on the Isle of Angelsey (Sir Fon in Welsh) called Dwyran, which is a handful of houses. The village I was brought up in is 5 minutes away. He went to the same school a me. I don't like him though. Think he's pretentious, but glad he did well.

2025-02-15 20:41:03 +0000 UTCThe golden rule is ‘be kind’, particularly when online. One ill-judged comment could be enough to send someone over the edge.

2025-02-15 20:15:52 +0000 UTCAh you guys. You could of left this for a while, the vote would of understood. It's very tough to know for the best, sometimes things like this might help, but also sometimes you have to put your own needs and feeling first. ❤️. Love 💕 to you both.

2025-02-15 20:05:32 +0000 UTCI am sure i am not the only one who's heart is breaking for you and with you. As a community i know we have all grown to care so deeply about the both of you and so many of us have been through similar situations. Doing this reaction at such a tough time is very very brave and shows your character and strength. I have never heard this before and i am blown away, it was tough but fantastic. Thank you for being yourselves as always. Much love. You are in our thoughts. :)

2025-02-15 19:27:35 +0000 UTCVery brave of you to do this at this time . The only reason I’m still here is because I never wanted to leave others , my family and friends , hurting and in pain for my loss . So I suck it up my pain at the time didn’t outweigh the damage I would have caused . My life changed with the help of a very good therapist and I started to live again . I have PTSD caused by childhood abuse , the program that helped me was EMDR . Maybe this will help someone on here or even your lovely selves . You should know how healthy and uplifting your relationship is is a daily tonic for me .

2025-02-15 18:34:46 +0000 UTCIt's definitely something we should be open about speaking about, because when you're in the frame of mind considering taking your own life - it genuinely seems like the best option. And that's something difficult for others to understand. A friend of mine did it back not long after we left school, so 20+ years ago now. But I slipped into this about 5 years ago. A little into the pandemic, it wasn't because of the pandemic for me, I'd been going this way for maybe 18 months prior. I ended up with such awful depression and anxiety, I've no idea how I kept a job. But during the winter break (Christmas) I started buying pills, ibuprofen and paracetamol (we're restricted in the UK as to how many you can buy in a given shop) over a period of a few weeks. I got some rope and I planned to neck all the pills and then hang myself from the front door hinge. The funny thing is, I got too drunk to do it. So I put it off as I was battling a stinking hangover and just stayed in bed. The following day I found out a guy I went to school with had taken his own life. He had a wife, 2 kids and a good job - he was a politics lecturer. I was in no position to really know how any of my friends were doing, and I regret that. But it was a massive wake up call for me, seeing someone who I thought had it all figured out, do this... Just blew my mind. Thankfully I'm passed that stage now, I did get counselling (fortunate enough my work's healthcare benefit sorted it) and I was shocked at how just speaking to someone that wasn't a peer made things better. It transpired I had some health issues that were easily sorted, I'm talking basic deficiencies and leaky gut, so essentially 3 months of posh pro and pre biotics. The gut is often considered the second brain. But talking to friends and family can be enough to push you to where you can get the help you need. I since lost another friend who, even worse, had started to build up a following online about mental health. He'd split with his wife but had kids and ran a successful business. You never know what others are going through and just like I think it was BT said back in the day, "It's good to talk".

2025-02-15 18:17:19 +0000 UTCRen had a friend joe with Mental health decline . Ren got a call in early hours of the morning to say Joe was on a bridge with intent to jump. Ren ran to his friend calling him but the line was busy. And then the line was unobtainable. Sadly Ren was 3 min too late. He has a song "For Joe" and another "Su!c!de" as homage to him. Maybe too soon for Jess. But if you ever want to spread awareness these are great songs and Troubles end with some positivity and hope.

2025-02-15 18:13:46 +0000 UTCRen is incredibly talented. Try his band 'The Big Push' doing 'I shot the sheriff'. Also Ren's Money Game trilogy. Incredible.

2025-02-15 18:12:25 +0000 UTCFor anyone who doesn't know. At the age of 17or 19 Ren became cripplingly ill. Docs could find no reason and he ended up misdiagnosed for 7years . Then diagnosed with Lyme disease. The misdiagnosis meant the disease had plenty of time to take over his body and Ren ended up with some brain damage. Stem cell treatment in Canada gave him some time to get some true masterpieces out. Sadly I heard he had a relapse and was back seeking help. He truly is one of the mist talented artists this generation has seen. Back on 74 is definitely one for Jess and Mike

2025-02-15 17:53:18 +0000 UTCYeh hopefully they will see and react. Love these twos reactions and I recon Jess will shed a tear or two.

2025-02-15 17:34:41 +0000 UTCSometimes something comes along at a time when it’s just not for you, when you’re not ready to hear it. Then you hear it at a different time and it connects with you, it was never ‘wrong’ for you just the wrong moment in time. I have bipolar disorder and Chalk Outlines connects with me even more than Hi Ren, every word of that song is something I experience.

2025-02-15 16:49:41 +0000 UTCI’m glad you’re giving Ren a second chance. He really is an amazing artist- I’m sure you would enjoy his songs that are more singing based - he has a beautiful voice and most of his songs have a message. Don’t feel you have to do Jenny and Screech again if it’s not for you without censoring it, he has so much to appreciate . Hugs to you both💜

2025-02-15 16:25:25 +0000 UTCI have to admit, when I voted for this I'd forgotten how close it was to what you'd just been through. (Sorry.) I really admire Jess' strength going through with this reaction right now, knowing what she was letting herself in for. I know this particular song is hard to endure but i think you both take the point Ren was trying to put across in your usual intelligent and thoughtful way. Always remember you both have a virtual family both here and on YouTube.

2025-02-15 16:24:00 +0000 UTCThinking of you 🩵. I haven’t watched this for a while I found it a bit more difficult today for various reasons. I know this was tough for you Jess , take care.

2025-02-15 16:08:16 +0000 UTCHey friends, we are out of town right now for the funeral. Sorry for this late upload today. I thought I got it sorted before I left. We tried to get as much done before we left, but we couldn't get to everything. An Idiot Abroad S1 E2 is supposed to go up tomorrow, but we just couldn't get it done. It will go up early next week on an off day. We love you all and hope you're having a great weekend!
