Still Game - S1 E3 Cauld

Comments

The type of portable heating in the episode are particularly expensive to run, especially on the tight budgets pensioners would be on. Their flats (particularly during the time of filming) wouldn't have been insulated very well to begin with for a typical winter, nevermind the uncommon -12c in the episode. Though its still a yearly talking point in politics and the news as even in a typical winter the elderly need help from the government, and sometimes they don't do enough (or anything), with unfortunate outcomes.

coldest temp in scotland was 1995. -27.2C (-17F).

The episode names are just normal words but are written the way scottish people pronounce those words

Darren

I only heard of this and started to watch this when it was put on netflix recently. Maybe as i am from England, had never heard of it so much. But its one of the best British comedy series i have ever watched, completed all series in like 2 weeks. Great reaction please keep them coming :-)

Andy Gore

A show that only gets better as it goes, first episode isn't the best

Brian Baxter

Still life in the old dog.

trev

I loved chewin the fat. Especially Karen Dunbar and her individual fruit trifle

Yvonne E

Still Game - Which would actually be pronounced stull g-em Basically means Still up for it.

Ricky .... "You've just taken that too far".

David Dunlop

I'm not sure, might have missed it ..... but has anyone explained the premise? "Still Game" and what it means? Apologies if it is obvious or been explained but I'm never sure what is specific to the West of Scotland or not. 🤷🏻‍♀️

David Dunlop

I'm the same. Paisley, Scotland. I'm shocked at how it makes me feel to see people loving our country, banter, comedy and more. It's the best wee country in the world. ♥️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿♥️

David Dunlop

What streaming service are you using? I saw 'Brassic', hopefully one for the channel at some point.

Jason Bonner

And yeah they're all much, much younger than they play. That's why the makeup was so bad in the first couple seasons. Victor (or Greg the actor) was only 32 in the first season... Ford (Jack) was a bit older but they were all relatively young in their 30s.

Andy Robinson

Not sure if you've worked this out, but boaby in Scotland (in the context of up your a...) is a word for, well, the gentleman's sausage. Not to be confused with Bobby the barman.

Seamless Transition Mike 🤣

Coming from Scotland, watching reactors enjoy this is what I live for. I cannot wait to watch these! On a general note - having found you guys on YouTube just over a week ago - I have consumed your content at an alarming rate. You two are such a joy to watch. Keep up the absolutely excellent work! (Time to watch all the Patreon Content!)

Liam Christie

I'm glad you're enjoying Still Game so much, it's one of the best comedies ever made. Nearly all the main actors are actually 30s and 40s with old person makeup. Eric is the only one that's actually old I think.

Athan Immortal

You would be amazed at just how many people bypassed the need to pay for electricity before "smart meters", done it myself and for most of my family too, there were so many different ways to do it, hypothetically!

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

"Oh, here they come, Abbot & Costello!, You're putting the beef on Jack (putting on the pounds)" ..............."Aye, every time i shag your wife, she makes me a sandwich!". One of the classic lines from the show, used to have it as a ring tone :)

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

Yayy, post credit scenes, you're getting good at this Mike lol. Another banging episode and reaction.

Everyone needs Still Game in their life. Doing great with accents, but wait till near the end, y'all will be fluent in Weegie

FRASBO .

Don’t edit anything, we’ve seen behind the magician’s curtain.

Terrahawk

The plug in fire/heaters with the bars run off the electric supply and even using one of the three bars can run up a big bill

Malcom Kumar

Your both doing very well indeed with the accent. Not so fun fact. The actor who played Mankie Frankie passed away in 2023. Really good reaction again guys and buzzing for you to watch the rest

Malcom Kumar

They also have another show which was made before this, with the same actors, it’s more of a sketch show though… it’s called (chewin the fat) 🙂
