Still Game - S1 E2 Faimly

Comments

that's crazy, did the make up so well

Chris Monaghan

I saw them film the "Central Station" part of this episode and it was glorious. Was just going for a train home after being in Glasgow for a bit of shopping. What a memory it is to have too, especially when I rewatch these almost every year.

Liam Christie

The Faimly thing means family but it is also a call back (forward?) to the misspelt door mat theme

SimonNZ

you have to wait for after the closing credits IN EVERY EPISODE, there's a short comic sketch right at the end.

Dave Roberts

Would you believe that in real life Billy Boyd (Lord of the Rings) is two years OLDER than Greg Hemphill that plays Victor. Greg was 33 filming series one.

Dave Roberts

Jesus Christ mate was just a mistake πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Paul

This is my favourite reaction to still game already. Your picking up on a lot more than other reactors. Just need to remember that post credit scene at the end of every episode. Glad your enjoying it and it only gets better and funnier

Malcom Kumar

Very very enjoyable βœ…

Duncan

Could add it to the YouTube upload.

Terrahawk

Yeah, I seem to remember a McDonald's Big Mac meal being about Β£3.29 around that time.

Angel Delight is flavoured custard. You guys would call it pudding. It comes in packets of powder which you whisk into cold milk and leave it in the fridge to set.

Aye Ready

Yep, adjusted for inflation it's about Β£8 which would be about $10 now and that's not accounting for the other factors that would probably place it more than that these days.

Athan Immortal

Great explanation :) Just to add another for anyone not from Scotland, not in all cases but some words that end in 'all', tend to be pronounced 'aw', so ball becomes 'baw', wall becomes 'waw' etc..

Coleyman

Β£4.40 for a meal might sound good, but that was 23 years ago!

Andy Robinson

You missed the ending after the credits

Bikeaholic

Gosh dangit!!!!

RegenerationNationTV

Great reaction, guys! You must remember to let it run after the credits because there is usually a short bit after the credits. Cheers!

Scott Gardiner

Not at all. We are just trying to get in line with our weekly schedule. We shouldn't have released the two episodes when we did. That was on me. Now that season 1 of The Ricky Gervais Show is over Fawlty Towers has taken over the Friday slot. Episode 3 will be out this coming Friday. Sorry for the delay and miscalculation on uploading the first two episodes. I never wanted there to be this much time between episodes.

RegenerationNationTV

Have you given up on Fawlty Towers guys? πŸ€”

Rob G

After credit scene Mike.......

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

You didn't watch the post credit scene! Add that to the begining of the next post. Great reaction, you're doing so well with the accent.

Athan Immortal

You missed the after credit scene with Shug!

Yes, faimily means family. Scots and the English language share a common language ancestor, called Old English. They began to diverge when England was successfully invaded by the Normans in 1066, who then brought their dialect of French with them. Over time, this influence of French on the English language changed the pronunciation of vowels which is known as the Great Vowel Shift. So if you ever see or hear a word that appears to be an English word with strange vowels, this is why. These are some vowel differences to look out for: 'ou' in words like house, round or about become an 'oo' sound. Hoose, roond, aboot. 'ea' in words like dead or head is pronounced 'ee' (though usually spelt 'ei'). Eg. Heed/heid and deed/deid. 'o' can either be replaced with an 'a' or 'oa' depending on the word. In the first episode there was a joke where Jack and Victor called the bartender Dick, to which he replied "for the millionth time it's Bobby" (but pronounced it Boaby). It's funny because Boaby is slang for penis. There was also shoap (shop) and boaxes/boaxing (boxes/boxing) in the first episode. Hame, wrang and aff instead of home, wrong and off are good examples of when an 'o' is replaced by an 'a'. The only other 'ai' example like in faimily I can think of right now, is caird instead of card. Hope this helps and glad you're enjoying this show πŸ˜ƒπŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
