Kids still have a bit more autonomy here than they do in the US from what I’ve experienced, in part because of the public transport and walkability of all towns and cities - so kids can do their own thing younger because there’s less dependence on cars. I was going to town on the bus on my own from about 10, maybe slightly younger. Kids in pubs is not unusual either, especially as they’re not quite the same as bars, I spent most of my Sundays in the pub as a kid playing pool and Sonic the Hedgehog / Golden Axe etc 😂

The animation gets a lot better.. just gets funnier. The more times you watch it the more wee Easter eggs you find that just makes it even better😁😂x

Yes, Mexican jumping beans are a seed with a moth larvae inside. I now have to google that toy 😊

Craig Humphries

Mexican jumping beans are a toy in the UK but also a real bean case with a moth inside which causes it to move. (This may be a memory I made up but I'm sure I read it years ago)

The Elephant Man was a real person named Joseph Merrick (often mistakenly called John Merrick). He was treated at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, East London. Merrick passed away in 1890, and his remains were donated to the hospital, where his bones are still kept. Interestingly, in the 1980s, there was a story about Michael Jackson allegedly wanting to purchase Merrick’s bones, the weirdo. The poignant story of Merrick’s life was famously adapted into the 1980 film The Elephant Man, directed by David Lynch. In the film, Merrick is portrayed by John Hurt. It’s a classic that highlights the heartbreaking story of a man who faced immense suffering yet remained profoundly human and dignified. If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth a watch.
