When discussing first cars as youths "that's when the VW bug came out". I think you're making yourself sound older there Jess. They were available on mass production from 1945

2025-02-15 19:10:05 +0000 UTCQuite true: it's not exactly Disney. It's funny how we bring our cultural expectations to things without realising. It's like another well-known US reaction couple stops WILTY to guess true or false (my American surgeon friend and her boyfriend insisted on doing so when I introduced them to it here a few years back) and even gets out pen and paper to do the maths and conundrums on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown! That amuses me more than the show sometimes.

2025-02-06 15:24:33 +0000 UTCYes, I read that is the case, but nobody at my school had a car, and I didn't turn 18 until after I had taken my 'A' Levels and left school, being the youngest in my year. It also took me 4 tries to pass, being such a shy and nervous young man! I know people like to claim that must make you a bad driver, but I reckon in my case that I learned far more about driving after all that. In any case, considering how many teens are involved in car crashes, it seems patently absurd to allow driving so young, while banning drinking until 21.

2025-02-06 15:22:57 +0000 UTCyou could at 17 so, some 6th formers (as they are) had cars. if you had an early birthday and generally rich parents, that is...we had two at our school...

2025-02-06 11:43:08 +0000 UTCWeird that the dent was on the wrong side of the door (ie the outside) while Simon is carrying it, given he backed into the signpost! I expected Jess to comment, eagle-eyed that she is. I'm confused though: I don't remember anybody passing their test, let alone owning a car, at school. I thought that was an American thing, where they trust 16 and 17 year old to drive but not to drink. Then again, I grew up in an era when everyone could go to the pub at 16 without the need for I'D. It didn't turn any of us into alcoholics!

2025-01-26 18:56:01 +0000 UTCOne of the funniest things about this episode as because this was season 1, nobody at Thorpe Park knew the show as it hadnโt aired any episodes yet, and youโre got a camera crew following a guy in speedos and a guy carrying a car door through a theme park ๐คฃ

2025-01-24 01:17:49 +0000 UTCThe theme parks here are really tame compared to America but thank god Universal are building a big theme park here soon.

2025-01-15 17:13:16 +0000 UTCLol love it, i feel like the rollercoaster reveal is one of the more memorable moments of the show.

2025-01-15 17:02:58 +0000 UTCGreat reaction. I love the way Mike and Jess drill down for some sort of moral tale. Spoiler alert, there really isnโt one just pure unadulterated cringe all the way. Just the way we love it over here.

2025-01-15 15:59:58 +0000 UTCI was skeptical at first that this would not be the show for Jess but I so pleased how these reactions are going although I'm still trying to process that M+J have teenage kids.

2025-01-15 15:21:22 +0000 UTCIf Jess makes it through all 3 seasons (maybe even the 2 films), we'll have to celebrate it somehow.
