Patreon Restructuring & Price Changes - Three Months Notice

Hey guys, this will probably be a pretty long post so I'll try to be as clear and concise as possible. I will probably fail in that goal so please feel free to ask questions if you need me to clarify something.

As the title says though, the changes outlined below will not go into effect until three months from now on July 31st, 2025. I repeat, NONE of what you read below goes into effect until July 31st, 2025. Wanted to make sure I gave substantial notice.

I also want to stress that there is NO change to the actual schedule at this time. All Story Poll Slots and Weekly Prompt Polls will remain as they currently are for the foreseeable future outside of any stories ending and being replaced with new stories.

Anyways, onto the changes/restructuring:

1. The $3 tier price will be retired much like the $1 and $2 tier prices. From July 31st onward, the new cheapest price for pledging to my Patreon will be $5.

HOWEVER, just like I did with the $1 and $2 tiers, anyone who is already at the $3 tier when July 31st rolls around and I discontinue the tier publicly will get to STAY at the $3 tier as long as they want.

Basically if you're already at the $1, $2, or $3 tier right now, you will be allowed to stay at that tier for as long as you choose to remain pledged to my Patreon.

2. With the new lowest tier being $5 and the old version of the $5 tier giving extra votes to the Weekly Prompt Polls, I have decided to do away with extra votes for higher tiers altogether.

This means that $5 tier patrons will no longer get 5 votes on the Weekly Prompt Polls and $10, $15, and $25 tier patrons will no longer receive 10 votes on the Weekly Prompt Polls either.

From July 31st onward, everyone, no matter what their tier, will receive 1 vote on Weekly Prompt Poll A and 1 vote on Weekly Prompt Poll B each week, just like with each of the Story Polls.

This means if you are currently a $5 tier or higher solely for the additional votes, you should lower your pledge to $3 sometime in the next three months if you would like to save money while maintaining access to my content.

3. As well with the new lowest tier being $5, I am changing up how suggestion prompts are submitted. Currently, the way it works is that only the $5 tier and higher can submit suggestions each week starting midnight my time (Pacific Time) on Thursday morning all the way to when the Weekly Prompt Polls go live Sunday evening. Though admittedly there's usually already no more room for suggestions by Thursday evening/Friday morning.

From July 31st onward, anyone will be able to submit suggestions each week, including old $1, $2, and $3 tier patrons grandfathered in. However, the time to submit suggestions will be moved from midnight Thursday morning my time to midday Thursday day my time.

This means that instead of people being able to submit their suggestions as early as 12 AM Pacific Time each week, everyone will need to wait twelve hours later until 12 PM Pacific Time on Thursday to submit.

$10 tier patrons and above who have access to guaranteed prompts will be able to continue to submit their guaranteed prompts at any time each week throughout the month.

Basically, the changes will look something like this:

$5 tier (new lowest tier)

$10 tier

$15 tier

$25 tier

Anyways yeah, that should be it. Thanks for your time and thanks for your patronage!

current normal time for the next three months. it'll be 12 hours after the current time starting August.

So what time could i submit new prompts again?

Voltron-0Q1

While I'm not affected by the tier sunsetting, I do want to add my admiration that you're letting those that do subscribe to that tier stay there in a grandfather arrangement.

Price of the brick going up

DarkDrifter

Luckily, I am still in the $2 tier. I would have to reduce my subscriptions to other creators to afford the $5 tier, though $5 is a more common price.

Thanks for letting us know and thank you for letting us who cant pay more for new tiers grandfather in really decent of you , hope you have a good weekend

Jamie Celtic

So glad I can keep my pledge and still vote and even now suggest!

Changes seem positive overall, also pretty cool you’re letting people stay at the 3$ tier, I know a decent amount of people who wouldn’t/didn’t. Not to mention you’re one of the best value for money authors I know of on Patreon anyway, pretty sure even at the 5$ tier you’d still be the cheapest subscription I have and provide the second or third most value for it. TLDR, thanks for continuing to be awesome lol.

TheEmperor

<3 appreciate your patronage all these years!

Cambrian

Eh I’ll keep my tier where it is even though I was paying extra purely for the extra votes. You are my longest running subscription (five years this month) so I’ll continue to support you the way I have

SiriusProblem55

I don't know for sure because I've never had to do it myself, but the way I assume it would work is that you just go in and adjust your tier and when your next charge time comes around it should automatically charge you the new price and put you at the lower tier. That's what would happen in a competent/intelligent system imo anyways

Cambrian

Given that I can count the amount of times the extra votes actually changed the outcome in hundreds of polls on like one hand, it won't really change much tbh, which is part of the reason I'm doing it. For all the years I've given extra votes to the $5 tier and up, the cost on my end (having to manually adjust the votes in excel each week) has far outweighed the benefit on the patrons end (actually being able to influence the vote in a meaningful way by spending more money).

Cambrian

You're all good man, doesn't hurt me at all and at the end of the day I just appreciate yours and everyone else's patronage. Even if you need to hop down to $3 before the price change goes through in August, I wouldn't mind one bit <3

Cambrian

This might not be the right place to ask, but what happens if one already has paid annually for a higher tier and wants to go to a lower tier?

Frostcore

I am moving this time next year so as you saw I'll be stepping down my pledge a bit in order to have cushion money , hope this doesn't hurt you too much but i understand the money is being divided a bit different now a days

That black guy

I wonder how the numbers will change on the polls if everyone has 1 vote per poll

Nat

Crazy times we’re living.
