Ships

Here's the Terran Fleet, out there defending Earth's interests. For a privateering ship like the Pink Galaxy, they're probably mostly a bunch of hard-asses, getting in the way with inspections and whatnot. But they'd sure be a welcome sight if space pirates attack!

Also included is the Pink Galaxy docked in orbit of Earth, right above Egypt and the Red Sea. Tropical and equatorial space ports handle a lot of traffic going up to space stations where passengers transfer to long-distance flights -- the Pink Galaxy is capable of atmospheric landing and takeoff, but when there's a space dock available, it's way more convenient for an interstellar craft to just stay out in space.

Incidentally, the perspective is massively cheated in this image, because the ship is actually way too big for this hangar, so I had to change a few things. I do stuff like this all the time, but I don't know if I want to ruin the magic...

(but I will if you're interested in scrolling down:

For example, all the workers are about 80% normal size. The ship is also scaled down, but still doesn't fit - the wings and gun wouldn't fit at all in this room. The two workers underneath aren't actually touching anything, but they look closer to the camera - they're actually right underneath the glowing rings - the shield generators. The gangplank leading to the airlock is actually outside the spacedock entirely. Also the Earth is only maybe 50m across and is pretty close by.

Part of the problem is this wonderful space hangar, designed by the amazingly talented Stefan Morrell whose sci-fi sets I've been wanting to use for YEARS (most of the Pink Galaxy's room interiors are also his), came with stairs in place that were difficult to remove - so... I couldn't have the ship look tiny, fit into the room, and then have these massive stairs. I also couldn't scale the workers down any further to make the ship look bigger, or else those stairs near them would look ridiculous.

I know I could cut them out... but little infrastructure details really bring a scene like this to life.

Incidentally, Stefan Morrell, a.k.a. Stonemason, designed the huts I used for the orc village in SFK1, the modular ruins pieces I used for the forest setting in my Battle Test "rpg", and one or two other things I've used over the years, but his work is mostly modern or sci-fi. Like the sci-fi hoverbikes I've used for a couple of wallpapers here on Patreon ("Highway Three" and "Roadside Attraction"), the crew quarters from the "Sci-Fi Girls Mini-Scene" here on Patreon - I'm using those pieces again in Pink Galaxy -- oh yeah, this hangar was in a few wallpapers here on Patreon too, "Chroma" and "Infiltration". In fact, just look through the Sci-Fi category here on Patreon, and about 90% of the set pieces/backgrounds were designed by him.

This has turned into a Stefan Morrell appreciation post, and I probably should have done one a long time ago!

As for SFK fantasy backgrounds and sets, probably over half of those are by Luc Favereau, a.k.a. Faveral, an equally amazing 3D artist whose work is mostly in the fantasy genre. If it weren't for him, I probably never would have made SFK at all!

Incidentally, I also sell 3D models I made before I discovered people like these guys who sell way better stuff I get to use and kitbash and collage for my projects nowadays. But I'm not going to show them to you because by comparison mine SUCK! Also, they're all Wild West themed, because that's what I was working on before I started making sexy things.

But maybe someday I'll do a Western...)

Ooohh... Another ship I'll have to make a badly modelled copy of an add to my ship viewer 😁
