Meanwhile in the shadowy forests of the dark elves...

I've been trying to redesign old designs (such as for SFK5) using newer materials and techniques, but I'm not sure if it'll actually pay off or if I've just been wasting a lot of time. >_< Neither of those characters are a redesign of Athropos my famous dark elf, so don't worry about me accidentally ruining her.

I tried recreating Aisling for her SFK5 scene, using a much higher resolution model as a base, and I just couldn't get her looking right... in fact she looked like an alien. Maybe I should just leave SFK characters looking more cartoonish and less realistic, even if I am capable of doing more realistic work now, than I used to be able to do. I guess I can save the more realistic style for other projects.

Anyway, I hope this is not too sexy for Patreon, but considering that it's being shown behind a paid members-only barrier and I've made it very clear what kind of art I do, maybe it'll be okay.

Otherwise, grab it now before anybody makes me take it down. ^_^'''

No, I think that's exactly right. ^_^

Is it wrong if I want to go down between both of them?

That makes sense. I already had to make Athropos a little more realistic for The Girl Prince, because her original more anime-ish design looked too weird next to Prince Meris. ^_^''

I agree, but I shouldn't really mess around with the rules on this site.

You're right. I tried to get rid of that effect - I don't even know how it happened in the first place. >_< They'll definitely have to have smoother skin before I'll use them in a real project.

Hard to say whether to favour the "old" cartoonish or the "new" realistic look. None looks bad IMHO, though in this image my impression is of a certain "spottiness" of their skin which makes me think more of the undead in general or zombies more specifically than dark elves ;-)

Also, whether you go with old or new designs I would recommend not mixing them. Both your old and new-styles are great (although of course your newer stuff is just amazing with all the new things you seem to have learned over the years). However, if you mixed the two I think it would stick out like a sore thumb. Go look up an old PSX game called Twin Goddesses. It used two different art styles for the characters, and, well, it didn't go so well aesthetic wise. Granted that was pixels versus digitization, but still consistency seems like the best route to take when in doubt.

Aww, they are kissing! So much love! How could that be too much for Patreon? Love is all good!
