Tamina ‘Tammy’ Rheingald
21 years old
A young noblewoman of House Rheingald, one of the weakest noble houses of Cransmere. They only came into being around a hundred years ago after her ancestor, a knight in the service of Baron Brimley, discovered a magic ring while fishing in the river that could sway the hearts of men. Rather than keeping it to himself, the knight offered it to his Lord and asked only for nobility in exchange, which was granted. Word got out about the ring and it was confiscated by the Duke of Arrark not long after, but the Baron respected the agreement begrudgingly. In honor of the ring, their coat of arms is a golden ring centered on a flowing river.
Her father is Lord Vinjohn Rheingald II (58) and her mother is Wilvia Rheingald (44).
Tammy has two siblings, an elder brother, Vinjohn ‘Vinny’ Rheingald III (25) and a younger sister, Ceowyn Rheingald (12)
Lord Rheingald is desperate to move up his family’s standing, and as part of his plan, he’s pushed all of his children to excel in all manners of activities. For many years it was expected of Tammy to study, learn etiquette and all that other nobility junk. On top of just being too much for a child in the first place, this burden was made worse due to Tammy having a developmental disorder that severely limits her attention span and makes her suffer from chronic boredom whenever not engaged in.
Eventually at the age of 14, her father all but gave up on her and has allowed Tammy to simply exist in the background of their family ever since. She did little more than sit around in her room reading books, playing games, solving puzzles and overall just enjoying her newfound freedom for a few years, but began to grow dissatisfied with how boring and pointless life is.
She confided in her older brother, who was already concerned about Tammy, and he started to take her out more often into the town and began convincing her to leave of her own accord, eventually talking her into getting a job somewhere she might be stimulated by interesting things- the local Adventurer’s Guild.
Tammy did think that might be interesting, getting to talk to adventurers and see their loot and all that, but wasn’t convinced their father would even allow it. Luckily, Vinny had a plan. He spun his proposition in a way that would benefit their father, essentially ‘gifting’ his own daughter to the service of the Guild in the hopes that it would give him preferential treatment in registering quests and such.
The Guild Master of three years ago, Beckett Eckerson, agreed and for her first year on the job Tammy was somewhat productive with her time mainly due to Mr. Eckerson being a threatening presence who she didn’t want to get on the bad side of. After he was ousted following his scandal, Dorothy took the position and Tammy has been abusing it ever since.
While it’s true that her condition makes it hard for her to care or do anything, Tammy has to grow out of just accepting that at face value and not trying to do the best that she can, even if it’s a little bit of work at a time. My intention is not to dunk on ADHD sufferers but it’s necessary for her to start off lazy and complacent so that I can portray her reaching a point where she wants to improve and work within the limits of the condition.
Above anything else, Tammy just wants to feel like there’s something more than just little distractions to fight off her boredom. She wants something truly exciting to happen, or to meet someone who can catch her interest for more than a few seconds. She eventually finds this in Coye, despite brushing him off the first two years they knew each other.
The more he starts to change, the more women around him and the more his reputation grows, the more interesting he becomes to Tammy. This is not romantic at first, and won’t be for quite a while. There’s friction between them since they start to become friends but Coye doesn’t like how lazy Tammy is and how much trouble she causes Dorothy.
Since she also has trouble like he did with making connections, he’d help Tammy eventually make friends with others and learn to find interest in the lives of other people.
