Ramble/Update on What I'm Working On
Added 2022-01-04 22:23:03 +0000 UTCThings have been somewhat up-and-down the last week. My mood has been improving, so that's good, but production has slowed on the fairy story somewhat. This mainly happened because of the rewriting and editing process, when I reached a point that I wasn't able to use the rough draft anymore and needed to redo the current scene without a guide. Part five is almost done, though and I want to believe that part six will go very fast since it's just the actual sex scene and not the foreplay.
Besides that, I've been writing a small expansion to my Monster Girl Farmer scene here and there. The original scene did not have an anal option, and there was feedback requesting one, so I volunteered to add one for him. This is barely taking any time out of my day so I don't want you all to worry about that, and it's only going to end up as a little over 3000 words. Still, it's a nice little payday which is why I'm working for him to begin with.
Another reason I feel like I'm slowing down a bit is that now that I've been editing and rewriting things for several months now, it's like I'm a lot more critical about every little word I write that I used to be. More doubts, more annoyances, and I'm trying to just get past that. I wrote nonstop for almost an entire year, so I guess that's catching up with me. I'm also annoyed in my inability to think of things in a small scale. The fairy short story has evolved into a novella, when originally it was just supposed to be a little exercise to get me to open up and stretch my creative muscles. It's no longer just a short story about an adventurer who meets a fairy, now it's an entire spinoff that I have ideas for and more girl that wants to add to the setting.
I need to come up with some way to actually practice writing short stories. I want to be able to write things under 5000 words without them evolving into some bullshit like this lol. I want to be able to publish more content on Kindle Unlimited, which won't be feasible if I can't fucking learn to think small. The next time I do a short story, I will prepare an outline since that was the biggest problem with writing this current novella. Then I will work on a system to make scratch characters more easily. There's a whole lot I need to improve on.
Once the novella done we will see what the next side project is. I'm not immediately going to jump into writing more stories with Coye and Shayla, although obviously there are plans for that as well. I still need to work on the orc story which has been a long time coming, but the problem with that is that it will novella length as well.
One other minor that I have been working on. By now you know that the setting of my series is just one of many realms. I've written lore documents about several of these other realms before, and there are many more that have been name dropped in the main story, as well as still more that I have in my head and have not told anyone about before. I'm not putting much time on it, but I have been jotting down some random ideas I have for a realm based around the Golden age of piracy in the Caribbean. This won't be a formally written lore document, it's a scattered thoughts bullet list about different topics. The realm gods, the major political powers, how magic works in that realm, etc.
I know this has nothing to do with a single thing I'm working on, but I know better than to not write ideas when I'm having them. For whatever reason I'm inspired to make some details about the pirate realm, so I won't resist.
Actually, it's not true that the realm has nothing to do with what I'm working on. I had been thinking of what my overall brand would be called on Amazon, and I've settled on 'The Realms of Love and Lust'. Rise of the Guild Master would be the flagship title of this brand, and as the brand name implies, there would be stories set in and the other realms I have mentioned. Personally I think the time when I am able to write stories in other realms is quite a bit away, since it involves the significant amount of world building, but there you go.
Most importantly it needs to be said; The main story will be my priority once again soon. I said I wanted to update and edit the last three chapters, the first of which I've already done, and the second of which I have already started. Once I am done with my MGF scene later today and don't have to juggle it, I will get back to editing and then to writing new main story chapters.
I hate how long everyone has been waiting, even though the past few months have been very enlightening to me and I think I've grown a lot because of the introspection editing made me do. I just wish I had been wiser about it and that it didn't cost me so much momentum or patrons. Not to whine or anything, but I was close to 700 a month before I started this stuff. This month was down to 500, which hasn't been great on morale.
Regardless, things will go better once I'm finally done with all this junk, and when new chapters are coming out, as well as new short stories on Kindle Unlimited. I truly believe all the hard parts are behind me now and that the next month will go smoothly barring unexpected twists in my life.
