Qadira Bio
Added 2021-09-23 05:50:48 +0000 UTCQadira is a twenty-two year old Magi from Kissuara now living in Karnalle, specifically Hunnihome in the Echora province.
She was born inside of one of Salmazah's many brothels to a prostitute and an unknown father. Her early days were lonely due to her mother constantly having to work to provide for the two of them, instilling a strong sense of independence in the young girl from an early age. Her life wasn't all bad, though. Qadira was close to many of her mother's co-workers, she had friends of a similar age out on the streets of Salmazah, and some of the customers in the brothel were kind to her, even bringing young Qadira candy and small toys.
One of these kind gentleman was a powerful Magi by the name of Musharraf who worked in the service of the Sultan. This particular man frequented the brothel explicitly to visit Qadira, sensing magical talent in the girl. He would bring scrolls for her to look over, show her all sorts of Djinns, and inspire a love for sorcery in her. When Qadira turned eight years old, Musharraf would offer Qadira to come and live with him in his mansion, which she happily accepted with her mother's blessing.
At first, this was a dream come true. It felt like she finally had a father, one who taught her the ways of the Magi, at that. Musharraf took great care in instructing the girl, allowing her to use a weak Ghul for her training.
She was even allowed to see her mother any time she wanted, with Musharraf eventually promising to hire her as a servant. This happy life of hers only lasted about two months, when Qadira noticed something was off. Musharraf began to touch her more frequently, and day by day he grew more blatant in his motives. He was grooming her to be his child bride.
Qadira was a smart girl, so before anything tragic could happen she resolved to sneak away onto the streets. As Musharraf stole the Ghul that she used during her training and escaped into the night. The only problem was that Musharraf's mansion was in the a completely different section of the sprawling city of wonders than Qadira was used to. She didn't know where to go from here, and it took her weeks to find her way back to the brothel. When she did, Qadira was met only with tragedy. The brothel owner told Qadira that her mother was killed by a violent customer and that the brothel owner arranged for Qadira to be returned to Musharraf if she ever showed up again.
Qadira knew this for what it was. Musharraf had killed her mother so she would have no one to return to but him. Musharraf didn't factor in that Qadira had one other person she could rely on for survival- herself.
She summoned her Ghul to attack the brothel owner, and escaped permanently to the streets which would become her home for the next nine years. During this period, Qadira did absolutely anything it took to survive. Qadira conned others, she stole, she sold illicit substances, and when her body started to blossom she seduced. Anything that would help her get ahead in the world, Qadira would do so without hesitation.
She did all of this to herself for one simple goal. Qadira wanted to become a strong enough Magi to kill Musharraf. With every dinar she earned, Qadira would spend it on ancient scrolls to study the ways of mastering Djinns, and by the time she turned seventeen she had managed to stumble upon two other Djinns which she would claim as hers. Her roster is as follow.
- Khalil, her stolen Ghul. He is very subservient and agreeable for a Ghul, and despite the stigma that a Magi faces when using a Ghul, Qadira has a soft spot for the evil monstrosity due to how long it's been with her.
- Jamar, a bestial Hinn with a form similar to a saluki. Very prissy, vain, and annoying, difficult to control without offering suitable rewards.
- Djamila, a female earth magic Janni. Very deadpan and chill, often tired of Qadira's shit.
While none of these Djinn are super powerful in their own right, Qadira's skill has made them stronger over the years than they otherwise would be.
Qadira had gained a small amount of infamy on the streets of Salmazah. Despite her numerous strings of crimes, she became known as a mysterious streetwise Magi with great promise. Eventually, the Sultan himself reached out to Qadira and offered an apprenticeship to her in the hopes of adding yet another powerful Magi to his forces. Her crimes would be forgiven so long as she behaved herself, and a master Magi would take him under his wing on the Sultan's behalf.
Qadira accepted on the spot. By a shocking twist of fate turn, her new master out to be Musharraf. What's more, he didn't even recognize her.
In secret, the young Magi laughed at this surprising and fortunate opportunity, and for the next three years she studied directly under Musharraf just like when she was a child. He had since gotten married to a young girl and had become a father, which horrified Qadira, but she kept it inside.
Only once qADIRA had been taught every thing that he could teach did she put her vengeance into action. She used every trick in the book to lure him to bed, which was all too easy. Before killing her tutor, Qadira taunted him by saying now they'd be able to finish what they started twelve years ago. He instantly grasped the meaning of her words, but it was too late. The knife was already at his throat, and Qadira struck true.
With precious little time, Qadira stole as much as she and her Djinns could carry from Musharraf's mansion and went back to the streets she knew so well. She was found not even a day later and brought before Sultan Karim al-Ansari for judgment.
Qadira pleaded for her life and explained her circumstances, and to her good fortune, Musharraf's own wife spoke out during the hearing in defense of her wicked husband's murderer. Seeing the complexity of her story, the Sultan passed down his judgment.
His punishment was strict, but merciful. Qadira would be exiled from Kissuara and forced to serve the Association of Adventurers in Karnalle, where a chunk of her quest rewards would go toward paying off her crimes. Kissuara has AoA Guilds of its own, but the Sultan refused to allow her to work off her sentence in this realm saying that her crimes were too great to remain here. The Sultan even allowed Qadira to bring her Djinns with her.
Even though Qadira got off incredibly easy, something snapped in the Magi.
Rather than being thankful, Qadira grew resentful of her Homerealm and even the Sultan who spared her. It shouldn't come as a surprise considering how all she's ever known was a thirst for revenge. Her heart was empty after killing Musharraf, and she filled it back up with the misplaced idea that one day she would return to Kissuara and enact revenge on this land that had only ever given her pain and suffering. She vowed to herself that Kissuara will pay, and she will become the next Sultana.
Qadira used to be cruel, calculating and efficient in her old plans, but now she only thinks in vague terms. Her agenda is just to become more powerful and to gain fortune and magical artifacts to aid her in her quixotic. This speaks to how broken down and depressive she's become, as she's essentially just grasping at straws to find some sort of meaning in her now meaningless life.
When the voidship dropped her off in Echora, Qadira was taken to Hunnihome and registered as an adventurer by Lanille Peacethorn, and she's remained on a relatively tight leash up until recently when she made it to silver rank at the age of 22. Most of the other adventurers at the Guild dislike Qadira because of her unapproachable and stuck up behaviour, only tolerating her long enough to go on quests.
Her life changes for the better as she starts interacting more with Ghorza, the most popular Orc in Hunnihome apparently. Lanille sets he and his party up on an adventure with Qadira hoping it would mellow her out a bit, but Qadira becomes obsessed with the Orc's strength and vows to make him her slave. Ghorza doesn't respond well to her fetishization of his natural strength, but eventually he starts to see a more sensitive side to her.
Here he is, an Orc who values family above all else, opposite a girl who has never had a family in her entire life. What else can a man do but start looking past her flaws and trying to be a positive influence on her? Ghorza feels sorry for Qadira, and the Magi has no idea how to reciprocate these feelings of kindness. As he gets to know her, Ghorza starts asking her the tough questions and forcing her to look at herself in a more critical light. He thinks the Sultan didn't have her executed so that she could have a new start away from the land that only ever hurt her, and that she should be thankful for her life and the opportunity she still has to grow.
He ends up saying some things that come off as leading her on, and she starts to fall for him. This only makes her act like an even more delusional tsundere, though, and Ghorza finds her antics tiresome from time to time.
Qadira even slowly starts to open up to Dart and Auriss, as the three enter into an agreement to eventually seduce and share Ghorza between them. Of course, she still operates under the pretenses of doing it to one day turn him into a weapon she can wield at Kissuara.
Over time, though, Ghorza will continue to influence Qadira and day by day she'll learn to appreciate the chance to have a normal life and a chance at love and a family that she never had before.
