To his surprise, it was suddenly a hand on his own ass instead. He had swapped bodies with the young woman he was attempted to touch. The entire club had, in fact, swapped bodies due to what would come to be known at the Great Shift. Maxwell and the woman, Misty, were lucky enough to escape the madness and discuss their situation.
She seemed nervous about something. He told her he’d need to borrow some clothes and such from her, and she could do the same from him. This only made her more hesitant before ultimately agreeing.
He was surprised at the hovel she brought him to where she pulled out a single suitcase.
“Do you really live like this?” Maxwell asked, “You seem so well put together!”
“Just because I’m poor doesn’t mean I don’t know how to look nice,” Misty shot back.
“I’m sorry! It’s just -- ” Maxwell paused for a moment, “ -- Look, I’ve got a big place. Let’s take your stuff. We can both go there. You don’t need to come back here. I owe you. What I did in the club; it wasn’t right.”
Misty sighed, “No, it wasn’t. And after we swapped, I was ready to figure out a way to leave you stuck with my poor life now that you have my body; no one deserves to live like this though. We’re not even though...yet.”
