Oliver had trouble finding an apartment in the city that he could afford on his fresh-out-of-college salary. There was only one listing, and he was apprehensive about it from the moment he looked at it. A woman named Cassidy showed him inside to the studio apartment with two beds separated by little more than a screen. Cassidy’s side was an absolute mess, but the other side was tidy. He was a little wary of living in such close quarters with a woman, but Cassidy assured him it was no big deal. And Oliver realized there was little else in his price range, so he ultimately agreed.
In the first few weeks, Cassidy seemed like a strange woman. With the thin walls and even thinner screen, Oliver could tell when she was watching dirty videos on her phone; he heard when she cursed out her tampons, as if she had no idea how to use them; she’d walk around without a shirt on.
After coming back drunk one night, he realized he had woken up on Cassidy’s side of the apartment. His first worry was that he slept with her, and he’s have to navigate breaking up with the trainwreck of a woman. But after a few moments, he realized he had actually woken up as her! They had swapped bodies!
Cassidy poked her head over the screen as Oliver was roaming his hands up and down his new body in disbelief. “I probably should’ve warned you about that!” She piqued, “On the full moon, everyone inside the apartment just sort of swaps bodies with each other, so just sort of be aware of that if you have a girl over...or a guy if you feel into that now.”
“I just want my own body back!” Oliver replied.
“You’re going to have to wait a month then. I can’t really do anything about it. That’s how I got stuck in Moon’s body in the first place. She was over on a visa and insisted going back home to Asia while in my body. She hasn’t been back since, and I was just sort of stuck. It feels good to be a guy again though...”
