Current leg day stuff
Added 2024-02-09 05:43:25 +0000 UTCSo I had stopped leg pressing for many months after getting sick, partially out of respect for my body and partially out of fear for how much strength Id lost, but now that (knock on wood) I’m a little more stable health wise I’m back at it again. As much as I love the leg extension I really don’t think there’s any substitute for super heavy presses like that, and since squatting kills my knees I prefer to leg press instead.
Last year when I was heavier, I was moving four or five plates each side for reps (yes they were full reps, but only most of the time lmao) but now that I’m back with a fresh start I’ve been focusing a lot more on lower weight to make sure I’m getting the most engagement possible before putting on any more. Current working weight is at 270lbs + the sled weight for a 5-6x4 and it feels ok. I’m gonna stay there for another week or so to get back into the swing of it and then try and go up again. I’ve also embarked on the hip thrust and let me tell you that thing is VIOLENT. My ass is commercial gym plastic grass rn I won’t lie.
I’ve been looking into the proper form to get good glute engagement without hurting my back and it seems to have worked, I may post a link to the resources I used on insta at some point too.
I’ve also added the hip abductor and it’s character foil as burnouts at the end, I had always been a little skeptical of them because they seemed less than optimal, but I do think they’ve helped define parts of my lower body I had neglected. I’m also trying to work on my hamstrings because I have also neglected those but that is a work in progress.
Overall, having a fresh start to relearn some old things and start learning new ones has been kind of refreshing.
TLDR: I want HAMS and I’m prepared to lift weights to get there
